Albritton Title tried to tell me that I had to close on a certain day at a certain time and had to come to their offices (which are about an hour drive for me)When I told them I would not do so and that Albritton Title needed to make arrangements convenient to my schedule and location (e.g., by sending documents via FedEx), the response was that customers generally come in to their offices, which I know is falseWhen I pointed out that the other party to the current closing was doing so by mail from Michigan, the response was deafening silenceOnly after I threatened to pull the closing from Albritton Title (and give it to a more customer service oriented company that I had worked with for a closing in Tampa) did Albritton Title agree to come to my new house for the closingOn that day, the owner/manager was angry and hostile throughout the minute process, clearly resentful that she had to actually come to a customer!
I closed on a Friday and the buyer did so via mail on the following MondayLate Monday I received an email notice from Albritton Title that signed documents were availableAlbritton Title was the only company in all closings not to call and tell me the closing had occurred!
Moreover, the documents did not have a confirmation of the money transferI emailed Albritton Title: "I do not see any confirmation of the wire transfer in this document." The response was: "That is not something we scan into important documentsYou can contact your closer for that." I could not have made a statement that better illustrates the absence of customer service! My response was not aggressive at all: "Isn't Albritton the closer? If it is a particular person, why don't you forward this to her? Wouldn't this be good customer service!" Albritton Title replied with the excuse: "Your closer is (name withheld for privacy)She would have sent out the wireI have copied her hereinI apologize I was not trying to give your less than great customer service but I did not want to give you incorrect informationShe saves the outgoing wire confirmations I believe I do not have that information."
There can be no doubt as to why I would never use Albritton Title again
