1. Body & Brain pressures its customers to advertise on its behalf. I am a Federal employee, and this practice is prohibited. Despite being notified on several occasions, Instructor Hongik C continued to pressure me in person, by text, and by email for several weeks until I ceased all interaction with her.
2. I was offended by C's insistence that I only invite Veterans who are "clean and act normal." I am married to a 100% service connected Veteran who served in the Special Forces for 24 years. I am also a VA nurse assigned to the Homeless Veterans Program. This was VERY callous and insulting.
3. I was charged $1,950.65 on 05/20/18 for a one-year membership. C had to make three attempts to charge my credit card because a number was transcribed when she keyed in my information. As a result, $4,000.00 was put on hold for several months. Per my Credit Union, I requested that C cancel the pending transactions, but she refused. This poor business practice made money tight and made me very stressed during my vacation.
3. Attempts to request a refund from Body & Brain's corporate office have been unsuccessful. I submitted a complaint in July 2018 using the instructions listed on the business's New Customer Agreement, but my request was ignored. I tried to follow-up by calling, but no telephone number was provided. The company's website indicates that the corporate office is in Tempe, not Mesa, AZ, which is contrary to what's listed in the agreement. I called the number to the Tempe location but never received a return call from that office.
We have reviewed this complaint with the Albuquerque Center Manager and we have advised not to make any comments that may be construed unfavorably. The Center Manager regrets sincerely that her attempt at a joke caused discomfort to our member.
We have conducted a reversal to Ms. credit card, ending in ***. Please see attached receipt.
Sirs/Madams, this was an unfortunate situation and no intentional dishonoring was meant. We take the care of our members very seriously and work with a wide diverse groups. We all have personal connections with family members serving our country. I hope Ms. can forgive this oversight.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID. I find that this resolution is satisfactory to me as I received my refund on 08/27/18.I disagree with Nicole's explanation that the manager was making a joke. She most certainly was quite serious when she asked that I not invite "crazy and dirty Veterans" because city officials would be attending her event, and she said thode types of Veterans would be bad for business.
