On August 8th 2019, I called an air conditioning service (A/C) company because my A/C unit was not cooling. The technician arrived and immediately check my outside A/C unit. He informed that I needed a new performance system renovation at the cost of $894.00. He stated maintenance for fall and spring would be additional $150.00. Total cost was $1004.00 which I paid.
On September 30, 2019, my A/C unit was not cooling again, with same symptoms as in August. I called the same A/C service and they sent out a technician that A.M. He went to outside unit and in less that 3 minutes came in to tell me I had no Freon that he would go to attic to see where leak was. When he returned, he informed me that a large grate in my unit was leaking and would need to be replaced at a cost of appox. $3500.00. I told him that I could not afford that. I started questioning him and he went back in attic and came back with pictures on his phone. I questioned him again about the Freon. His story started to change. The cost went down to $1500.00. I told him that I wanted a second opinion . He left.
My neighbor recommended another A/C company. He came out the same day at 3 p.m. He said my blower motor was out and no sign of Freon leak. He said that I should ask for my money back from previous company.
What adjustment do I consider mutually fair? All of the $150.00 for maintenance not received and half of the $894.00 for repair that I believe was not correct done and I believe was not necessary.

I have looked into this situation as the general manager for the company. From what I can see there was a lack of communication between customer and service professional that was on site for the second time. The second time we were out there had nothing to do with the issue that was present on the first visit. If the repairs the first time were not completed the system would not have ran. I am confident that there is no need to refund the first repair amount as the system was not working when we got there and was working fine for a month after we had been there. The second issue had nothing to do with the first repair. We will however refund the 150.00 maintenance fee back to the customer. By all means do we strive for 100% satisfaction and will do all we can to be fair.

My a/c unit was still running on original visit. It is sad that there is a company here in Longview that is taking advantage of seniors. I have tried to meet this company half way but it is obvious they are not interested in doing so. A warning needs to be sent out to the public.
I initially contacted Alco Air for my 92 year old mother-in-law for their advertised hot water heater check. Adrian *** the service technician, inspected the existing hot water heater and noted that it was leaking and that the hot water heater needed to be replaced. Later the same day, I inspected the water heater and agreed that it needed to be replaced. I discussed this with Mother at which time she handed me a estimate for replacement of the water heater that had been provided by Mr. Estimate to replace the old water heater with a 40 gallon water heater ranged from a "platinum for $3595 to a "silver for $2615. For a 50 gallon water heater is was "platinum" for $4070 to "silver" for $2960.
I contacted *** and have a 50 gallon water heater being replaced for less than $1000.
It my opinion it appears that the company was attempting to take advantage of my Mother. Fortunately, she has family members that handle the home repairs. I can only imagine, if this is standard practice by Alco Air, how many other seniors may have been taken advantage of by this business.
No further contact by the busi I would like assurances that Mother's address has been removed from the business' advertisement maillist. I would like an apology by Mr. Maxwell to Mother.

Went in to do a routine water heater flush. Discovered leak on side of water heater and the top. Talked with customer about replacing water heater. Customer stated that she is 91 and does not handle her finances and that her children will be getting in contact with us. Left a quick written quote with our information by request because customer does not have email. Also left our card and let her know we do not advise to flush the water heater at this time and to call us when family is available to speak about replacing current water heater. She stated that they would be in town this weekend to handle this affair.*We did not charge the customer for a water heater flush nor did we charge her for a service charge. We take dealing with the elderly very serious here at Alco Air and the technicians did ever protocol right in this situation. We were never contacted by anyone to discuss replacement options. We do offer more than one replacement option for the simple fact that there is more we can do for safety precautions than just install the water heater its self. We did email the family with a full list of water heater replacement options but did not a email until this notice.
