In May we contracted Alcove Companies to rebuild a sunroom we had discovered had floor rot around the perimeter. We were referred to Alcove by the original sunroom installer. Because we had to go through the insurance for this, it did take awhile. We had written approval on June 2nd. I contacted [redacted] by text. He contacted the insurance company for further clarification. We also asked Alcove to replace our roof that was 20 years old. This was not under insurance. We were told some parts would need to be ordered for the sunroom. On June 26th we contacted [redacted] (the owner) again to see when we would be able to start. He indicated that they were working on another job and he would get back to us with a start date. July 13th, we were again put off and told soon. Finally, they started on or about July 20th. At that time, [redacted] figured out the porch was made different and had to order the floor. When talking by phone, I was told it would be 10 - 14 days. The walls were left in the yard, as were the windows, screens, a wheel barrow, my ceiling fan and a lot of trash. On August 13th, I contacted [redacted] again and was told they were probably not yet ready as he had not heard from the company. We were then told they would be ready the 15th. On August 20th, we were told [redacted]'s employee did not tell him they needed to order track so there would again be a hold up. The entire time, the wall were laying in our yard with trash and pieces, killing much of our yard. [redacted] did complete the roof during this time and asked for payment, which was promptly given, even though the entire roof was not done, because the portion over the sunroom could not be done yet. At that point, we had to wait again and finally contacted [redacted] on 9/6 to see if the worker was going to show again. We were told that he had to pick up medicine and would be out sometime soon. Again, we had no communication from [redacted] unless we initiated it. We expressed our frustration at this point that a week long project was in its seventh week and we were still waiting. The worker would not show up until late in the morning or even afternoon often. At this time, [redacted] offered the excuse that he ([redacted]) had been in the hospital. On September 8th, we communicated with [redacted] because his worker did not show us again. On 9/13, we were told electrician would come out. However, we still had no roof on the sunroom and it was leaking every time it rained. I expressed concern about hooking up electrical in a room that leaked. We were told the roof was to be done that day also. However, it was delayed due to the rain. We were then told the roofers would show up on 9/21. On September 17th, we contacted [redacted] with a list of 5 things that still needed done and we had not heard from [redacted] or seen [redacted] for many days. On 9/21, nobody again showed up to work and the excuse that time was the roofer fell off a roof and was in the hospital. However, that was only told to us after again, we initiated contact. On 9/23 it was finally roofed and on 9/24 I sent [redacted] a picture because we discovered that when it rained, the room had a major leak. All we were communicated was that they would take care of it. Roofers then showed to check the roof. However, the water was coming in under the walls, so I sent the roofers away. After much insistence, [redacted] did come out that day and was stumped. So we waited several more days and contacted [redacted] again on 9/27. At that time he told us he was getting the manufacturer involved. So we worked further with [redacted] and his worker [redacted]. [redacted] came out on September 27th to work on the leak and could not figure out what the problem was. I had to leave late in the afternoon and we never heard any more. I had to again initiate contact with [redacted] to see if the issue was resolved. [redacted] told us he was under the impression it was the weep flap holes that were leaking. I had to inform him that I was there when the testing was being done and it had nothing to do with the weep holes. The water was coming in under the walls in several locations. On October 4th, [redacted] said he stopped by and saw no leakage with the rain we had received. I sent him a picture of our rain gage and told him that we had received less than .10 inch and then sent another picture of the water on the porch. Finally on Oct. 10th we were told they would be out the next day to take care of the leaking. 10/11 we had a crew out that sealed the room, did a water test and had no problem. However, after they left, I let the dog out and she brought in a liquor bottle. The crew had been drinking as they worked. It was a fresh bottle. I let [redacted] know this since it was a new crew. On 10/13 [redacted] wanted further payment. I gave him a credit card number and for part of the balance. I told him at that time that I would pay him more when the payment cleared my card. I did not feel this was a problem since we still had several things not finished including screen repair

[redacted] had completed multiple projects for me in 2016. He not only is a great person but has excellent crews. He has used a few different crews on my jobs and has never had a callback. The only things I have had to have him repair were some damaged shingles that the gutter guy caused after the roof was complete. I have done around $[redacted] with Alcove and would highly recommend them to anyone. He has done work for myself, my parents, my in-laws, and friends. Keep up the good work [redacted]!
