In Nov of Alcraft was to put in windows and siding at my home Which they didIt actually went well, except....between two windows on the outside, there is pvc that is damagedThey were supposed to replace it, I have been calling them since December of and they either give me a reason why they haven't been to my home to do it or either don't answer or return my calls It may not be important to them, but I am paying a lot of money to have had that work done and I don't believe that having damaged products was part of the dealI have been waiting months to have it replaced and they continue to ignore my phone calls When they wanted my signature on the completion paperwork so they could be paid, I mentioned that everything really wasn't complete yet, the project manager said, "What, don't you trust me?" I guess I shouldn't have, because I signed, the bank paid them and they have yet to follow throughI WONDER IF I WAS A MAN WOULD THEY HAVE TREATED ME THE SAME ????? There integrity is in questionVery disappointing

My offer is as follows: Alcraft is more than willing to remove front shingles of homeThen install ice and water shield upon entire decking area and re-shingle areaThis is a cost to us of $6100.00 The front leaked because the ice damming went above the ice and water shield because snow and ice was left on front of the roofAlcraft stands behind its work and this offer is in good faith but Alcraft can't be responsible for Mother Nature

I have a number of updates that I want to have done to my 1961 built home, I needed to hire a contractor that I could trust and that would do quality work (which seems to be a tall order these days). I decided to start with my picture window which desperately needed replacing, but I wanted to keep the existing frame. After researching and interviewing a number of contractors I was told I had to replace the entire picture window, that what I wanted couldn't be done, I was quoted outrageous prices. I then remembered that I had hired Alcraft many years ago to side my home and they did an excellent job so I decided to give them a call. Mike came right over and said replacing the windows in the existing frame would be no problem, he gave me an excellent price, then Jim came over and measured, and the windows were ordered. When the windows came in Angelo replaced them, watching him work I could see how meticulous and skilled he was, he did an outstanding job! My picture window looks just beautiful, I love looking at it and have received many compliments. I might add that I am very hard to please, I have worked many years for the Dept. of Consumer Protection, and have seen many home improvement disasters, so I am very particular who I hire. I highly recommend contracting with Alcraft, the communication, quality of work and follow through was outstanding. I am now having Alcraft remodel my three season porch and will leave another review when it is done.

This roof was completed April 30, 2009. Since the roof was completed, it never leaked due to rain or snow. There were no issues until the major snow storms we had in 2011. This was caused by ice dams. Several people in the state experienced ice dams due to the severity of the weather. Based upon...

what the owners told me is that they waited until summer to make sure it wasn't leaking in the summer. On August 21, 2011 we were contracted to remove the bottom 3' of the roof and install ice and water shield along with metal flashing 18' over the face of the fascia board because ice damming will leak water between the fascia board and base(plywood) upon melting. At this time we also included gutters and leaders with leaf guard. Since then the roof has not leaked until the winter of 2013/2014 again due to severe weather which caused ice dams across the state. The roof has only "leaked" during the two times the state has experienced severe winter weather which caused ice dams. Thousands of homes were affected by the severe winter weather. Warranties do not cover "ACTS of God".  It is a homeowners responsibility to either take precautions such as removing the snow build up on the roof themselves or hiring someone to do so.
We were ready to help them with the interior damage that was caused by the ice damming which is not our fault. I have no problem working with the [redacted] in an effort to rectify the situation but the "leak" caused by the ice damming happened because the ice dam built up over the height of the 3' ice and water shield. Code for ice and water shield is 2'. I don't see where Alcraft has been negligent in this case.

The sales man came in and without telling us the final estimate he was pushing us to sign the contract with him. He told us the roughly estimate between 22 and 28 thousand. It was a big difference between these 2 prices. He was trying to impress us with his personal stories about his family. We end up not doing the business with them.
We found a much cheaper and the best company of CT.

overnight. These are details that need to be completed prior to the start of any work. The work itself could have been completed within 10 weeks if issues didn’t arise, causing delays. All exterior frame work must be completed prior to interior work. This was done, however we were delayed by the HVAC system. The homeowner wanted to change what was originally agreed to for the system. He wanted something other than what our HVAC technician suggested to handle the allotted space. This issue delayed the project over a month because [redacted] would not accept the install of the unit originally agreed upon. Our HVAC technician refused to install what he wanted, so we were forced to find another HVAC technician. In the end, our company allowed for a $4000.00 upgrade at no additional expense to the [redacted] so they could have the system they wanted and we could move forward with the project. No other interior work could be completed until the HVAC system was installed. Since the HVAC system is complete, we have an agreed timeframe with the [redacted] as to the completion of the interior part of the project. The reason we collected some of the money when we did (not $80,000), was because the deadline had arrived to use the funds at a 0% interest rate for the loans. This had been explained to the [redacted] and they were in full agreement because of the 0% interest rate. There were no cheap products installed. The windows were not the wrong color. The [redacted] decided they didn’t want the trim to be white; they wanted it to match the original window trim. Everything is scheduled to be completed by the end of August, including changing the trim on the windows, providing no further delays arise. There is still an open balance of $12,100.00 for this project.

Review: I contracted with Alcraft Inc to install a new roof on my house, and it has been a nightmare since. During a snowstorm, water seeped into the interior of the house as if it was raining inside. Extensive damage was done to the interior of the house, but this was later repaired by my Insurance Agency. After the interior damages were repaired by the Insurance Agency, and since the roof was previously installed by Alcraft Inc., I was again visited by the President of Alcraft who sold me a package and assured me it would prevent any future water problems,.however, the work was done resulting in two different color shingles and the problem occured again. This time it is not as extensive as the first, but the paint has bubbled in some areas ,water stains are on the ceiling, and the ceiling has bulged in one room. I contacted Alcraft and was told by the President "what do you want me to do, you purchased gutter guards." I was later visited by the Project Manager who brought a pamphlet about ice dams. On inspection of the house the Project Manager kept saying he understood what he saw and suggested three options, remove the ice from the roof, purchase a cable from [redacted] to melt the ice, and call my Insurance Agency.

Several call were again made to Alcraft Inc., a second representative visited the house in June 2014 and advised me his visit was to evaluate the house for painting, I made it very clear to him that there is a problem with the roofing situation of the house and I did not want the painting to be done until the exterior was fixed. He took several pictures of the interior of the house, but I have not been been contacted since I was told the Project Manager is being hospitalized. With the winter approaching I am extremely frustrated with not having the problem resolved. I cannot keep submitting claims to the Insurance Agengy when the problem started after the roof was replaced, this has to be poor workmanship.Desired Settlement: After spending so much money, I am so disappointed and did not expect to have such an ongoing problem. I would like a thorough intervention into the matter and have the situation resolved ASAP.

Sincerely,

First, I'd like to begin with the salesman who did a great job "selling" us a new roof. He talked up the job making it seem as such a huge undertaking requiring an entire week to complete, hence, the high cost for the project. When we stated we needed to think about it; we were pushed for an answer that day in order to receive the special promotion. We were told we were getting the highest quality product on the market. The day the shingles arrived we noticed they didn't appear to be high quality so we began doing some research online and found enormous amounts of negative reviews. We called to switch to a higher quality brand which was done without any problems. The team working on the roof worked fast and completed the job within days; which is a positive thing however we felt taken advantage of by the salesman who worked the job up to be very time consuming. There also was NOT 2 layers of roof to be taken off and only half of 1 dumpster (rather than 2) was required. The dumpster was placed over boards of wood on our driveway yet still sank into the asphalt damaging our driveway. We were told that the gutters would be removed and cleaned out, which they weren't and we still are finding nails and pieces of roof throughout the yard (when it rains) and in the gutter. Throughout the entire project, not once did we see a project manager on site. After the project was completed, an employee arrived to have us sign a completion statement at which point we told him all of our above noted concerns...including others that we haven't mentioned that required the workers to return to the home and fix 3 different areas (roof, flashing, windows.) He appeared unprofessional and was unable to offer any resolution other than to say he would return to the office and relay our concerns. The next morning one of the men completing the roof arrived at our home asking us to sign his form to verify completion... he knew nothing about the complaints we made the night before but did as we asked and repaired the areas we requested repair on. It has been about 3 weeks and we have not heard anything back from the employee who we spoke to about our concerns, our project manager or the owner, who was one of the people who came out to the house before the project began... but we have received our first bill. Another large company quoted us on the job with the same materials and warranty for thousands less however, going back to the salesman, he really talked up the product he was initially offering and we fell for it. Needless to say, we have many regrets and a much more expensive roof using Alcraft. There are many more things I could say about what was told to us and what actually happened.
