Re: Case #[redacted]
Dear Sir or Madam:
This letter...

is in response to a complaint received concerning my business from a Ms. [redacted].
On Saturday, [redacted]th, [redacted], Ms, [redacted] called me in to look at her wiring. Upon request, I went to her home in [redacted] and checked out her electrical service. I found that the main wires coming in from the pole were broken at the weather hood. Upon further inspection I found that the meter socket had four screws cut off from the back. I then proceeded to check the wiring in the basement panel and found more problems. At this tirne I explained to Ms. [redacted] that she needed to upgrade the service, meter, panel and internal wiring throughout the house in order to bring it up to code. She told me to "go ahead and do whatever needed to be done" to upgrade the electrical service in her house.
On Tuesday, [redacted]th, [redacted], I went to the Government Services Building in [redacted] and picked up a permit. My employees and I worked for the reminder of that week on Ms. [redacted]'s house until Friday. [redacted], At this time it was ready for inspection. The house was inspected the following week and all work was approved. The power was restored to the house on Friday, [redacted]th, [redacted]. At this time my employees and I went in during the afternoon for 1.5 hours, which was not included in the 28 hours, but was charged after; bringing the total hours worked to 29_5 hours @ $65.00/hr. The total then came to $1917.50.
After my company finished up the work on Friday, [redacted] was so pleased that she went to the store and brought us back a six pack of beer. A few days later I brought Ms. [redacted] the invoice dated [redacted] and she sat down and wrote me a cheque for the full amount without any question. At this time she asked me for a list of the materials which I supplied. Upon request, a couple days later I supplied Ms. [redacted] with a list of materials for the work completed in her house. This was apparently not good enough for her; she wanted me to give her Superior Refrigeration Ltd. invoices from my suppliers (le: [redacted]). My company's private invoices from our suppliers, or any credits returns etc. are of no concern to this customer and I feel she has no right to ask for them.
Included is the list of supplies that I provided to Ms. [redacted] and how it was carried out. Should Ms. [redacted] have any further issues concerning my company's work on her home, I would suggest that she follow through with her statement of claim, which is also included here for you to view.
Kindest Regards,

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2015/07/20) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Mr. [redacted] has no right to withhold from the customer the receipts for materials he claims to have purchased for the job. As I look around the house I see very few purchases that might have been made on my behalf, to account for the nearly $2,000 material costs. A few smoke detectors, new plugs (one that threatens to come out of the wall now whenever I pull out the kettle), some wire and a small panel box. [redacted]. How do I know I have not paid HST twice without seeing those receipts since Mr. [redacted] charged the tax after totalling labour and materials? Am I to take his word? I am afraid we are well past that. He has since called me to say that he had discovered a credit for some material from [redacted] that I should have received, and I have heard nothing of this since. [redacted] I trusted Mr. [redacted]. And while I wanted to withhold full payment when I discovered a light socket malfunctioning in the basement, and the newly installed backdoor porch light that I bought not working, I felt pressured to pay in full [redacted]. The reason for the labourers returning was to fix the problems I mentioned above, which should not have been left undone in the first place. [redacted]
