Review: I purchased a 2007 GMC Sierra from [redacted] in October of 2014. I was informed that the vehicle had a serious transmission issue, but the car was brought to Aldrich Automotive on September **, 2014 to be fixed. The seller gave me the invoice from Aldrich Automotive, which shows that the transmission was completely overhauled. Parts and labor came to a total of $3,081.56. The seller pointed out that the invoice states that the transmission comes with a 12 month/12,000 mile warranty as long as the vehicle is not used for plowing or towing. Nowhere on the invoice does it say that transfer of the vehicle to another party would void such warranty. I had been driving the truck for less than two months when on December **, 2014 as I was driving on a main highway the transmission suddenly failed without warning. The truck was not leaking any fluid and the transmission fluid was completely filled and didn't smell burnt. I called Aldrich Automotive from the side of the highway and talked to the owner. After describing my issue to him he agreed that something in the transmission was clearly wrong. I was 90 miles away from his shop, but said I would have it towed to his shop at my expense so that he could fix the transmission under warranty. I was then told that he would not honor the warranty even though it was within the guidelines stated on the invoice. He then said that the invoice I had he had fabricated and that only a fraction of the work that was described in it was actually performed on the truck. How can you falsify an invoice to a customer saying that services were done to their truck when they were not actually done and on top of that not honor the warranty as well? After this conversation I did not feel comfortable towing my vehicle 90 miles at my expense to a business owner and mechanic like that. The transmission didn't even last 3,000 miles so why would I want him working on my vehicle again? Plus, he would have my truck apart and could charge me whatever he wanted because I would be at his mercy at that point. I did not want to put myself in that situation. I had the vehicle towed to [redacted], a nationally-recognized transmission shop, and had them perform the work to fix my truck. It cost me $2,140 .00 to fix the transmission in my truck, but at least it is with a business that will actually fix my truck if there is a warranty issue. I would think a mechanic would take some sort of pride in their work and would want to make things right, but this was not the case. I feel that I should be reimbursed the $2,140.00 I had to pay for a job that should have been under warranty. I gave him a chance to make right, but he didn't want to. The bottom line is that Aldrich Automotive ([redacted]) did not honor, actually refused to honor, the agreements of the warranty on the transmission that he "fixed". A warranty is a contractual agreement and [redacted] broke this agreement when he refused to honor the warranty.Desired Settlement: I believe that Aldrich Automotive owes me the $2,140.00 I had to put out to get my vehicle fixed. I purchased the vehicle with the confidence that the transmission would last, but if it didn't, I was covered under the 12-month/12,000 mile warranty. I had not even put 3,000 miles on the truck when I was stranded on the side of the road. I can provide paperwork from both Aldrich Automotive and [redacted] Transmission.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because: The reason I never called [redacted] back was because he made it clear he was not going to warranty the transmission he "fixed" that failed. I was stuck on the side of the road and was not going to pay to get in towed 90 miles to [redacted]'s shop that could charge me whatever he wanted to once the truck was in his shop and taken apart to figure out what broke. [redacted] claims he no longer has to warranty his work because he did the work for a friend. It is not my problem that he did the job as a favor. I have attached the bill that [redacted] gave me showing the work that was completed on the truck and how much it cost. [redacted] stated that all the work listed on the bill had been completed by [redacted] and that he did pay the amount listed on the bill. I was informed that the transmission would be under warranty as long as the truck was not towed or plowed with as stated on the bill. [redacted] should not be providing his friends with false documentation to help sell vehicles. He should not help his friends at the expense of others. [redacted] should reimburse me for the work I had to do to the truck as a direct result of his actions.
