Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

[Your Answer Here]  I have reviewed the original contract my mother entered into and find no mention of a CANCELLATION FEE of $25.  Additionally, the reason the equipment was returned and the service cancelled was because my mom passed away.  I fail to see how it would be possible to send Alert USA 30 days notice prior to her death.  I would therefore request that I not be charged $28.50 for failing to do so.  In summary, I request that an additional  $53.50 be refunded to the estate to satisfy this complaint.  [redacted], Executor Estate of [redacted]

Review: I have cancelled service with Alert USA by phone and twice by letter. All the Alert equipment has been lost, Alert USA refuses to cancel the service and keeps charging a yearly service fee. I have paid a $100.00 Deposit fee when I signed for the service and now I get a bill for over $500.00 and they charged me another yearly fee.Desired Settlement: Cancelation of service and refund of three years of charging for service which was cancelled and not used.

Sincerely,

Thank You Revdex.com. The company responded with a reasonable offer after filing the complaint with Revdex.com.

Review: We ordered one of Alert USA machines for my 89 year old mother in law. We paid the fee of some $325 that Alert USA requested. Upon receiving and showing her how the alert button etc. works she said that she does not want to use it. The system was never activated. We never signed any contract. We tried to offer to return the machine and the Alert USA said that they were entitled to the entire $325. We said that the machine was never activated, and that we never agreed to them keeping the entire money. They refused. Instead they kept on sending us monthly bills. We sent them a written letter that we never signed a contract. No response was received.Eventually, we offered to let them keep the entire $325 paid plus return the equipment. We made this offer several times to them. All their phone calls were answered with the same offer. However, they said that they want full payment for the equipment plus all outstanding charges even though no contract was signed and no services were ever used. They claim that the contract (which was never agreed to) says that cancellation must be in writing. All they have been doing for our now 92 year old mother in law is sending us bills.Desired Settlement: Keep our $325 and we will also return their equipment.

Review: My mother [redacted],was a subscriber of this service from June 2013 through March 2015 at which time we found a different alert system that better suited her needs. We sent a certified letter dated March **,2015, advising them that we did not wish to renew her contract with them when it expired in June. the contract requires a 30 day notice of cancellation, and our letter was received on April *, 2015. We indicated in the letter that all equipment would be returned in the original box as per contract stipulation and sent priority confirmation. According to the contract we are entitled to receive our $100.00 security deposit refund as well as a pro-rated amount for the paid-up service that was not used. We were supposed to receive the refund check six to eight weeks following their receipt of all of the equipment. On July *,2015 I called to determine the status of our refund and was told that someone would get back to us. I called again on July **, 2015 and was told that the check would be going out soon. Again on July **, I called and was told that the check would be sent within a week. On July **, I was told that the check had been mailed on July **,2015. We still did not receive the check, and on August *,2015 I called again and told them that they should be ashamed to work for a company that preys on senior citizens and bereaved family members because it is apparent that they have no intention of returning money that is owed to the people who have utilized their services!! I'm sure that by wrongfully keeping money from every subscriber they enjoy a hefty profit and should be held accountable for fraud and theft! I also told them that I was going to contact the [redacted], the Revdex.com, [redacted], and anyone else I can think of to protect other seniors. I was then placed on hold for thirty minutes at which time I hung up!!Desired Settlement: I want the money that is owed to my mother refunded to her and I would like to forewarn unsuspecting seniors of this practice before they enter into a contract with a company like this!!

Review: Entered into a contract agreement with Alert USA on ** January 2007 to provide an emergency Alert monitoring system/service for my mother [redacted]. Cr is [redacted]. The price for the service was $225 a year and a refundable security deposit of $100. I paid for the next year of service in January 2013. My mother entered an assisted living facility in January of 2013 and no longer needed the monitoring system. I faxed a letter on * April 2013 requesting cancellation of the medic alert system. All of the the equipment was boxed up and returned to Alert USA on ** April 2013. I made a phone call in June inquiring as to the status of the refund and again in July. I received a refund check of $167.50 (out of a possible $325) dated ** July 2013. They had subtracted the following amounts from the refund. Lack of Thirty day written notice - $26.50, Service used 4 months x $26.50 = $106.00, Cancellation fee $25.00. My issue is two fold: 1) There is no mention of a cancellation fee in the contract of $25.00. 20 Montly fee in the contract was stated as $18.75 however they charged $26.50. Request refund of the $25.00 cancellation fee and $7.75 x 5 =$38.75 for monthly charges for a total of $63.75 since those charges were not stated in the original contract.Desired Settlement: Request refund of the $25.00 cancellation fee and $7.75 x 5 =$38.75 for monthly charges for a total of $63.75 since those charges were not stated in the original contract.

Review: I subscribed to the USA ALert system for a number of years and cancelled my subscription in January 2015. My contract states that once I return the unit, my security deposit of $100.00 will be refunded. I immediately returned my unit and although the company acknowledges receipt of my unit in perfect condition, I have yet to be issued my refund. Multiple conversations with multiple individuals, including management, have left me with idle promises that a check is being processed. This has been ongoing for months and I have still not received my refund. I have called several times a week for the past month and each time I am told that the supervisor on vacation, at lunch, or left for the day and no one returns my call. This is getting ridiculous and to take advantage of a feeble senior citizen is an outrage!!! Can you help??? [redacted]Desired Settlement: I simple want my security deposit refunded ASAP as promised by the contract.

Review: My mom passed away in September 2014. She had a contract with Alert USA that she paid for on an annual basis (May through April). I returned the monitoring system and all related equipment in November 2014. The contract calls for the refund of a $100 security deposit plus any monthly charges following her death and the return of the equipment. To date I, as Executor of her Estate, have not received the refund. I have called Alert USA on 4 occasions and have gotten no satisfaction. The first call was answered with a "I'll look into it for you" response. When I received no response, I called again and was told that "my refund had been approved and was in the hands of the accounting department." I waited about 3 weeks and called again and was told that I should receive my refund in 7 - 10 days. After no receipt of the refund, I called again and indicated that I would be turning the issue over to the attorney handling my mom's estate. The attorney sent a letter to Alert USA requesting the refund. The letter got no response. Small Claims Court is not a practical solution since I live in Indiana and Alert USA is in New York. The amount owed the estate is $193.75 ($100 security deposit plus unused monthly fees of $18.75 x 5 months).Desired Settlement: Receipt of the contractual refund of $193.75

Review: 54.25Purchased Alert USA in May 2012 for my Mother [redacted] who lived alone in the countryside in Pennsylvania. She passed away on May **, 2013at the age of 92.Letter was written informing Alert USA and was told return all equipment and a refund would be made. I have the signed receipt which was signed June *,2013 by Alert USA. Called on August *,2013 and was told refunds take 6-8 weeks as per agreement and that it was in the refund box.Received a check today September ** which is 15 weeks from the return and deductions were made as follows. 3 months service $85.50 which is $28.50 per month.I was billed a yearly fee of $225.00 which is only $18.75 per month. Also,a deduction of $25.00 cancellation fee which I do not see this charge inthe agreement. So I feel charges should be adjusted to the proper amounts and further refund should be issued. The monthly charges should have only been $56.25not $85.50 and there should not be a service charge of $25.00. Total of difference $54.25.Desired Settlement: A check issued to [redacted] in the amount of $54.25 within 2 weeks from time of notification.

Review: I have had Alert service for at least 5 years never had any trouble with them Until december 2013 the system failed to work. I called the company to tell them they said it did work. They checked the system told me it was all right. Then in Jan. 2014 My 87 year old mother pushed her alarm didnt work she finally dialed the phone her self I did get her to the hospital But it could have been worse. After I got her out of hospital I called the company to complain Talked to some one who was very rude made me very mad. so I told them to put a manager on the phone .I talked to him so he sent me a new system but it wouldn't work so I called the company told them to cancel me They told me they would. But they would only pay for the new one to be sent and I would be responsible for the old. I did what they told me sent the new one by UPs went to Post Office mailed the old one. Now they are saying they never recieved it unless it might be in the basement what ever that means. they want around 600.00 dollars I have never missed a payment to them . I have the post office working on tracking it But it was sent back in march.

To Whom It May Concern:

The customer purchased our service at the rate of $73.50 per quarter in 2006. Excellent service, a

satisfied customer and quarterly billings of $73.50 continued until the customer neglected to send in the check to cover the quarterly billing of

3/**/14 and subsequently 6/**/14.

It is our company policy to continue to bill for monitoring services while the customer keeps our

equipment. As per our contract (signed copy attached), all cancellations require a 30 day written notice. We have never received any such notice fromthe customer.

As of today 6/**/2014, we have not received the equipment. It is clearly stated in the subscription agreement that until the equipment is

returned to AlertUSA, all monitoring fees will apply. The customer insists that they have returned our equipment. If they have returned the equipment, please

provide a Proof-of-Return. As for her remark about it being in the basement, we do not even know what that means. AlertUSA has no basement.

Once again, if the customer returned the equipment as they have stated, please provide

proof-of-return. All delivery services, UPS, FedEx, USPS or Messenger Services provide a customer with a receipt for

any package shipped. Please have the customer provide us with that receipt. If the customer can provided a valid receipt, we will be glad to credit

the account.

As of today the customer has an outstanding balance of $707.00; including the cost of the lost equipment. AlertUSA will accept a payment of $350.00 to

close out the account.
