The siding in the estimate was for the screen porch and existing porch. It clearly states this in the 1st paragraph of the estimate Mr. [redacted] sent you.I gave him the permit (I spent travel time; meeting with officials to obtain the permit).   He can use this permit to build his addition. The copy work (as noted with my handwriting on the estimate he sent you) was for the county (to get the permit) and my trade personnel. This individual is not out of pocket.  What is his issue here?As a side note, I ran into the contractor who spent several months working on Mr. [redacted]'s house correcting water damage. Ask Mr. [redacted] to give you their contact information so you can speak with them. Once again, I am truly thankful to God that I was too busy to work for Mr. [redacted] at the time of the water damage

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 1[redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
[redacted] is once again changing his story. Please look at the attached where it clearly says as the first line item under "-SIDING, SOFFIT AND FASCIA", "We will install Hardie siding, soffit and fascia". In addition, he stated that the permit cost $200 which it clearly did not. The cost of the permit was $155 and it is useless to me since it has Alesi Construction being the contractor. He claims to have made copies of the plans yet I never received them. Lastly, [redacted] would have you believe that a screened in porch is worth $187.50/square foot?!?!?! Not sure where [redacted] thinks I am asking for "free siding" and he is definitely misrepresenting the facts. There are many home in Rehoboth and Bethany that do not cost $187.50/square foot and I am merely wanting a screened in porch.  [redacted] clearly knew what he was doing and attempted to scam me.
Regards,

Review: I contracted with [redacted] Alessi and Alessi Construction to do screened in porch addition on my home as well as remove and replace the siding. The contract was for $66,000 and was to be started July 6, 2015. I met with [redacted] to discuss the contractor, signed the contract and gave him a $5,000 deposit. About a week before he was to start the work, he decided that the siding wasn't included and wanted another $30,000 to do the complete job. I was shocked to say the least and when he never showed up to start on July 6th or responded to me, I knew he wasn't a man of his word and told him to either get the work done or refund the deposit. Yesterday in the mail I get back my plans and a check for just under $4,800. I called [redacted] to find out why the check isn't equal to the deposit I gave him and all I got was attitude. He sent me a permit that I can not use and told me "be glad I didn't charge you for my time". REALLY?!?!?! I would NEVER recommend [redacted] Alessi or his company to ANYONE! I will also let everyone who recommended him to me know the type of person he is. STAY AWAY!Desired Settlement: I am asking for a FULL refund of the $5,000 I gave him.

Response:

Thank you for allowing me to respond. This same person complained to Angie's List. I have a copy of the same complaint and my response.Thank you for allowing me to respond. Below is the_complainants' version, and I am interjecting my version directly into his statement by using numbers and responding in red.[redacted] was supposed to build a screened in porch addition#1. This is true. I was to build a high-end screen porch with #1 cedar post and screen frames, solid 30" high masonry foundation with a concrete slab, covered over with tile and inlaid brick, detailed coiffured ceiling, a double sided propane fireplace (one side would face the screen porch and one side would face inside the living room) all topped off with a standing seam metal roof.and replace the siding on my home as well as a few other smaller items. He reneged on his own contract#3. I do not think I reneged on my contract. I was not willing_to give away a free siding job:.by not starting and unilaterally removing items from the contract despite taking a $5,000 deposit.#4. I did receive a $5,000.00 deposit weeks in advance of the July sth start date. I gave him the deposit back less the county permit cost (paid directly to Sussex County in the State of Delaware). Idid not pocket one cent. Side Note: He wanted to give me a deposit of 50°/o ($33,000.00), as he said he did not trust himself with the money and would spend it. I would only take $5,000.00 and the balance upon starting.AWFUL! I met with [redacted] to discuss the contractor, signed the contract and gave him a $5,000 deposit. About a week before he was to start the work,#5. [redacted] texted me and said to give him an estimate on new gutters and downspouts, so they would match the new siding. Icalled him and said that siding was not included for the original part of the house (only the addition).he decided that the siding wasn't included and wanted another $30,000 to do the complete job. I was shocked to say the least and when he never showed up to start on July 61h#6. I did not show up on July 6th because [redacted] was to get back to me after I told him that I was not going to side his house for free. At that point, I was not sure if he was going to get other estimates or check his finances .or responded to me, I knew he wasn't a man of his word and told him to either get the work done or refund the deposit.#7. Not true. In my phone conversation in Item #5, I asked him if he wanted me to mail his deposit back. He said he would get back to me (same conversation inItem #5, #6, #7).Yesterday in the mail I get back my plans and a check for just under $4,800. I called [redacted] to find out why the check isn't equal to the deposit I gave him and all I got was attitude. He sent me a permit that I cannot use and told me "be glad I didn't charge you for my time".#8. He can use the permit and has one year to do the work. The permit is in his name (actually his business name). Idid say that he should be glad I did not charge for my time to obtain the permit (The $200.00 was for cost of the permit and copy work).REALLY?!?!?! I would NEVER recommend [redacted] Alessi or his company to ANYONE! I will also let everyone who recommended him to me know the type of person he is. STAY AWAY!In closing, I am truly thankful to God that [redacted] sent me a text asking for an estimate for new gutters and downspouts. (Otherwise, Iwould have started the job on July 6th and really would have been in a bad way). I am so thankful I did not get involved with this individual. I am surely blessed.Very truly yours,

Consumer
