Around Dec 16, 2019; I was in the process of searching for an apartment in the Denver area as I was having to relocate from Montgomery AL. I had just received a job offer and I needed to find a place stay quickly. I searched the internet and reviewed a number of apartment homes and the comments about the homes. I finally decided on two complex's close to my work building. I called both locations to speak with the apartment managers and asked for photos. I explained that I was not currently in the area, but that I was relocating and I was in a rush to find a nice apartment. I finally received the photos and I decided to apply for an apartment with *** 20th street, because the apartment offered a balcony. I paid the required $200.00 fee and submitted my application. The apartment manager contacted me later to state that every thing was fine, however, my application would only be approved if I had a co-signer. I kindly declined and my application was not approved. The manager (***) confirmed that I would receive the $200.00 fee back. *** and I agreed that it would be best to hold the funds until I arrived in Denver, to avoid it getting lost in the mail. I arrived in Denver around Dec 31, 2019. I made a visit to *** and was told by *** that the check had not arrived. I followed up with *** a week later and again I was told that the check had not arrived. I waited a week and stopped by *** to inquire about my refund. *** asked me to wait and that she would go look for it. *** went to a back office and spoke with a second individual who confirmed that the check had been "cut" for me, but that it had not yet arrived at ***. *** stated that she would contact me once the check arrived. a few weeks went by (approx. Jan 17, 2020, so I called *** to inquire about my $200.00 refund. *** stated that the check had not arrived and that she would call me back to let me know the status. *** never returned my call after that day. I made several attempts to call w/no respoe
