I was charged with a speeding violation (85 mph in a 70 mph in the very well-known Hopewell area); I know I was not over 80 mph and decided to take it to court. At that point I wanted to clear my situation and dealing with the false reading would be a later fight. Review: I recieved a letter from alleged attorney [redacted], informing me that I had been charged with Reckless Driving in the state of Virginia, and that he would be able to assist me with legal representation. Not only do I have a spotless driving record, I have never been to Virginia before. This type of 'advertisment' is false and misleading. This type of false accusation attempts to use the fear of arrest into gaining new business.Desired Settlement: This type of advertising is false and misleading and should be discontinued.

As part of my marketing program as a traffic attorney, I subscribe to a marketing service - [redacted] that sends me lists of people charged with traffic offenses that are in court records and other data bases. This is a common industry practice that the VA State Bar approves of. Most people that get my letters say that they have received approximately 20 similar letters.Due to computer glitches that the service experiences, I do occasionally get false positives - people with names similar to those that have been charged with traffic offenses who get letters. I advise them when they call me to call [redacted] to see what the source of the problem is so that it can be fixed. I have no way of what is and is not a false positive at the time the letters are sent out. [redacted] probably received several other letters similar to mine. He should call [redacted] to sort the situation out and make sure that he is not the victim of identity theft. I apologize for the I convenience .
