The patron made a gift certificate in the amount of $in December 2013. The patron lost the gift certificate and demanded that we (Alexia's Nail & Spa) issue the patron another gift certificate. The gift certificate was a paper gift card not the plastic one
We told the patron that if she found the gift certificate, we will gladly honor the gift certificate. She does not have to worry about the expiration date. We wrote one year from date of issue on the gift card, but we had never turned down an expired gift certificate since the date we have been in business
The salon policy is that we are not responsible for lost or stolen gift certificates once we hand the gift certificates to the patrons. It is an unfortunate event that the patron lost the gift certificate, but we cannot be responsible for someone's mistake regardless of the amount on the gift certificate. It's not fair to anyone or businesses for something they cannot controlAlso, what happens if someone found the gift certificate and want to use the gift certificate. We cannot say no to that person because we don't know that person bought or found the gift certificate. If the patron bought a gift card at ***'s and lost the gift card and asked ***'s to issue another gift card because she lost it. ***'s would treat her the same way I would treat her. Sometimes in life we have to own up to ours mistakes and not blame on someone for ours unfortunate events.
In closing, we feel sorry for the patron that she lost the gift certificate. However, we cannot be held accountable for something
that we did not do. It's the patron job and responsible to treat the gift certificate like cash
