Alex's Handy Man Service

They were hired to frame in a door. They did not do it correctly and did not use treated wood as instructed. On August 27th 2015 Alex's Handyman arrived at my building location of [redacted] to frame in a bathroom door. We had purchased the door and just needed it framed into the wall. Alex's Handyman was left at the building to do the work. Approximately 4 hours later they called to inform us the work was completed. When we arrived back at the building, we noticed right away that the work was not done correctly. We told them that they needed to use treated wood on any concrete, and they did not. They did not add the header nor did they put in the jack stud. So basically in four hours, they literally put down one untreated 2X4 and placed the door in it and called it a frame. The nails aren't even all the way through and are sticking out and the frame can be pushed over. It is completely unstable. We paid $200 for the framing plus $7 for materials in cash because we didn't want to get into a confrontation. I e-mailed them immediately asking them for a resolution (either come back to the building and do the work the right way, or refund our payment). They have not returned our e-mails. Desired SettlementWe are seeking to get back $135 of the amount paid as we already went over their work and added the king stud and header ourselves. We also had to rip out what they did already because they did not use the proper treated wood as instructed. We paid a total of $207 and we would like $135 refunded back to us as we will pay them $65 for one hour of work.Please cancel the complaint.
