Alfresco Grills Reviews (%countItem)

Purchased new grill from Alfresco Grill and in less then a year the grill has completely deteriorated. Alfresco has refused to stand by warranty.
I purchased a brand new home in late June 2018. An outdoor cooking grill from Alfresco Grill was purchased on June 18 2018 and installed. The grill is located 75 feet in the air on a semi-in-closed deck. Even though I purchased the home in June of 2018 I was not able to move into the home until May 2019. To my surprise the Alfresco Grill which was never used had rusted and corroded and in-addition caused permanent damage to the custom cabinet which it sat on. The purchase price of the grill was $*** and based on the price I was very surprised it did not last a year. I contacted Alfresco Grill to report the issue and provided pictures of the damage and to discuss my warranty. The warranty states very clearly that I have 2 years from purchase date and that Alfresco covers all parts and labor to repair and replace under normal residential use. This was the response from *** their customer service rep:

"Typically this issues are related to 1) acid washing the flooring and stones without covering the equipment and 2) Chemicals and the cutting of stones and tiles during installation with the equipment being exposed and not covered. Dust and minerals from the stones and tiles will react with moisture and may cause pitting, and surface rust and spots."

I was confused by this response because my grill was never exposed to these conditions nor did *** know what conditions or placement of the grill occurred at my home. It seemed to be a general statement with no offer to have a rep come look at my grill and assess in person. After not being satisfied I decided to contact the president *** Bernstein for help. I spoke with *** and explained the situation. *** promised to look into it and respond back by phone. I have since left 3 messages and *** has not returned any of them. This has led me to file this today. Please contact me for further information. Thank You

Desired Outcome

Complete refund or exchange.

Alfresco Grills Response • Aug 05, 2019

Dear Revdex.com,
As *** has stated, he purchased one of our grills in May 2018, but did not move into the house or use the grill until almost a year later. During this time, there was construction at ***'s residence and the product was exposed to minerals. dust and cleaning products (along with moisture in the air) that are present during any construction project. We were able to determine this based on photos submitted by *** (see attached). Our company has been manufacturing and selling stainless steel indoor/outdoor products for 40+ years, and stainless (if properly cared for) is very resistant to corrosion and deterioration against external elements. What *** describes as "rust and corrosion" is in reality surface buildup and discoloration due to factors explained above and in our emailed response to him. We have offered proper stainless steel polishing and cleaning products to ***, as well as some replacement parts to help with this unfortunate situation caused by factors unrelated to our product. In reviewing the photos submitted by ***, there are several 'runs' and "streaks' which indicate presence of chemicals and surface buildup and discoloration, and the extensive nature of this resulted in additional staining of the cabinets he purchased separately from a different manufacturer. In addition, there is a broken gas line inside the front panel of the grill which was also caused during moving and construction as every grill shipped from our factory is fired up, and tested for possible gas leaks prior to shipping.

We always stand by our warranty and are willing to work with customers to resolve all issues and concerns. This grill can be refurbished, cleaned and polished to its original state if it is brought to our factory (or even possibly at the customer's residence). But *** has refused any solution offered and insists on a replacement grill.

Customer Response • Aug 07, 2019

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
No surprise that representatives from Alfresco would lie about what took place at my home. Not sure how they can make conclusions based on photos about what took place when they are on the other side of the country and never had anyone physically come and look at my grill. But just google Alfresco Reviews and you will find this statement below from All Valley BBQ Company:
"ALFRESCO: We have a history with Alfresco, and it's not good. FIRST, we took them to court (twice) for hiring us to fix their grills and then they refused to pay! A 'class act' kind of company, let us assure you... (Oh, we won...) SECOND, we know that, in the past, they've re-boxed foreign items as "USA" made, so again, not the most ethical company in the world. Their 9v ignition systems constantly fail, and while they DO get hot, they also get so hot that they fry their electronics most every time. The ONLY reason they're still out here in the desert is because our competitor knows the owners and push this grill on their pool contractors... STAY AWAY FROM THIS BRAND. You can thank us later... :)"
So not only were they sued according to this company for not paying their service company but they allegedly repackaged foreign items as made in USA. Tells you all you need to know about this company.
Back to my issue I actually purchased the grill in mid June of 2018 (have invoice to prove) with all of the other appliances for the home. The home was new construction and was already fully complete when the appliances were installed. The reason I did not move in right away was because this is not my primary residence. It is a seasonal home and I was living in another seasonal home just a few miles away until I could sell. I can provide any documentation to prove. I did not start using the house and grill until this summer began in May of 2019. Alfresco sent an email (see below) making assumptions just like their response to the Revdex.com about what took place. Nothing but lies to dodge honoring the full warranty that I have. They have never offered to come to my home to look at the grill, the gas line is not broke and I have never claimed that is was just another lie from Alfresco. They have never offered parts, they simply offered sending a cleaning product and I have the email to prove it. (See below this was there only response) Please have them send the correspondence that they offered me these things they claim. They can't because it does not exist! They take no reasonability for there product that has not held up to the normal outdoor elements after less then a year and a grill that we properly took care of. They simply are not honoring the warranty. Sounds similar to the claims from All Valley BBQ. The grill has destroyed a custom cabinet that Alfresco must reimburse me for. I have not refused any solution because one was never made. They even lied to the Revdex.com about that. In their response to you (last paragraph) they stated the following:
We always stand by our warranty and are willing to work with customers to resolve all issues and concerns. This grill can be refurbished, cleaned and polished to its original state if it is brought to our factory (or even possibly at the customer's residence). But *** has refused any solution offered and insists on a replacement grill.
Now read the email *** from Alfresco sent me below. He states - Our warranty does not cover cleaning and surface rust removal.
NOT THE MOST ETHICAL COMPANY isn't that what All Valley BBQ stated. Sure sounds like it to me.
If Alfresco is offering to come to the home and look at grill and the damage it caused and try and remedy the situation I welcome it. Please have them tell the Revdex.com and myself when they plan to come.
If you need to see purchase invoice please let me know.
Email on 6/5/19 from Alfresco I can forward this in need be.
***,

Typically this issues are related to 1) acid washing the flooring and stones without covering the equipment and 2) Chemicals and the cutting of stones and tiles during installation with the equipment being exposed and not covered. Dust and minerals from the stones and tiles will react with moisture and may cause pitting, and surface rust and spots."

Enox or Bar Keeper's Friend is recommended for rust removal cleaning.
We received
We do have Enox rust removal solution, If you wish I can send you some.
Our warranty does not cover cleaning and surface rust removal.
