We own a 1600 sq. ft. bungalow with a finished basement and were repainting the entire inside of our house.When Earl first arrived to scope out the project and saw the colours we'd selected for the walls and trim, he cautioned us that it may take more than 2 coats to effectively cover. His original quote was for two coats. Several days before the start of the project, he arrived to test a large section of a wall and of the trim to see how well the colours covered. It appeared that three coats on the walls and the trim would be required. He assured us that the incremental costs would not be proportional, as a lot of prep work would have already been done, but he was extremely hesitant to give us the increased costs, as he felt he would be high and asked us to trust him. We did. It ended up being 3 coats on the walls and 4 on the trim. First, the quality of the job was excellent. We've built 3 houses in the past and know what to look for. We could find no deficiencies, which frankly, is amazing. Second, the additional cost was very reasonable and have no issue with the extra charges for the extra labour and materials. We are finicky people who appreciate that you get what you pay for and deem this experience as first rate and would not hesitate to use Earl again. We are reluctant to refer companies, as we don't ever want to be responsible for someone's bad experience, but we have no issue recommending Earl to anyone looking for a similar service.

We had a lot of issues with our girl's rooms ( they have left the nest) but the nail holes,the paint choices. Earl made these rooms new again. With age came wisdom to know when to hire someone. What took Earl one day would have taken us 3 or 4 and would not have been done as well. I would recommend him to anyone with brains enough to know when you need to hand off a job to someone who knows what they are doing, it saves allot of time and stress. After getting him in to paint once I will never do it myself, I will just call him to come an do it for us.

For my small remaining job of my exterior doors and small front porch, I am having Earl only to return to paint (being only a very small job) when the weather is more cooperative.
These guys were trustworthy, professional, and prompt and they did a great clean up job afterwards. I would rehire them again without issue.

Earl was in our house on several occasions and reviewed all wall surfaces to be painted prior to providing a quote. Earl was well aware of darker walls in a few rooms yet he did not include a price for additional coat(s) in his quote. We assumed with his experience, that additional coats would not be required. Earl defends the need for extra costs for additional coats with a weasel clause at the bottom of the quote. He should have been up front from the start with providing the additional cost, even as an add-on price per additional coat. In addition, we were very surprised that his quote did not include interior door surfaces. It is true that his quote did not say he included those, however, his quote did not say that the doors were not included either. Past painters have always painted these doors. Who would paint the interior walls and not paint the interior surfaces of the previously painted doors? This was an added cost we did not foresee. Since Earl was nearly finished our house, we had no choice but to have the third coat added to some walls and the doors painted. We consulted with our Interior Decorator who was equally surprised with this extra cost, as her painting contractor would been up front with this. We want to warn other potential customers of his practices and to advise them to ask more questions before agreeing to a Contract.
Generally, the quality of the painting was well done. We were unhappy with extra costs, that the other painting quotes we received likely included.
