[redacted] brought in his 2002 Ford asking if we would replace the front shock absorbers and realign the vehicle, which we did.  The following day he called and said his truck's transmission was acting differently than it was before he brought it in.
As we had only put on front...

shocks and aligned the vehicle, it seemed unlikely that anything we did could have caused an internal transmission problem.  We said to bring it in and we would check it out an no cost.
He brought it back into the shop and my shop foreman took the vehicle for a test drive with [redacted] in the vehicle and was unable to duplicate a shifting problem.  At this point, [redacted] also claimed that his engine was now making a "knocking noise".  This was also not able to be duplicated.  My technician then went on another test drive with [redacted] driving.  They were again unable to duplicate the symptoms.  [redacted] said the symptoms were "intermittent".  We put the truck up on a hoist and verified that everything seemed properly connected, nothing leaks, and everything seems in order.
This vehicle is 12 years old with 160,000 miles on it and everything we could see works fine.
[redacted] was still sure that "it doesn't feel like it used to", so I (the business owner) was contacted and I talked to [redacted].  I told him to meet me the following day at the repair facility and I would assess the situation.  We met and went for two test drives.  One with me driving and one with [redacted] driving.  We were unable to replicate any symptoms of anything out of the ordinary, certainly for a vehicle with that mileage.  He said he had purchased the vehicle with about 150,000 miles on it and had no service or repair records of it before he owned it.
[redacted] was still not happy so I recommended that he take the vehicle to some other shop to have it checked out.
Three or four days later, he took it to West Escondido Transmission in Escondido for an assessment.  [redacted] brought in a copy of that invoice.  They stated that the transmission has an intermittent slightly hard shift from third to fourth gear and the transmission fluid was dirty and badly needed serviced (which they did).  They also stated that any symptoms that it might have were what one would expect with a truck with 160,000 miles on it, and that it was ridiculous to think that this had been caused by us putting on 2 shocks, aligning the vehicle and test driving it around the block.  Their repair order even states: "Internal transmission problems not related to replacing front struts or aligning of vehicle".  They were also unable to replicate a "engine knock noise" but found the engine oil level low which they topped off.
[redacted] finally said to me on the phone that it must have been our "test-drive" around the block that caused the problem.  I hate to think bad of people, but it seems that [redacted] is just wanting someone to buy him a new transmission to replace his old one.
I'm sorry [redacted] is unhappy, but we had nothing to do with his truck's problems.  It's unfortunate that he chose to file a complaint with the Revdex.com before he had even talked to me.  My cell phone number is at the bottom of every invoice.
Sincerely,
[redacted] (owner)

I ([redacted]) went into your shop to get the front struts and alignment done, your tech took my 2002 ford explorer for a test drive twice and said everything was fine. That exact same day that I left I felt my car drop and jump, that same evening I called and spoke to dale and he said for me to come in. The immediate next day I came in and your tech took it for a test drive and said it was fine, I asked him to go for a ride with me and showed him what I was talking about. Your tech said himself that it was acting funny after I went for a test drive with him. I ([redacted]) am not trying to get anyone to just pay for my transmission, I dont need anyone to pay for my transmission, my vehicle before I brought it into Align-tech was fine and wasnt having the issues that it is having now since I received my vehicle back from the shop. All I want is my vehicle fixed and the way it was driving before I received it back from getting the front struts an alignment done.

Review: On February 26th 2014 I ([redacted]) took my 2002 ford explorer into align-tech to get the front struts and alignment done, after 4 an 1/2 hrs later my car was ready. The tech said to me that he took it on a test drive before and after and that everything was good. After I left the shop around 3pm, I went onto the freeway heading home and my car literally dropped and jumped. There was a vibration coming grime the frame of the vehicle and what sounded like a knocking sound from the engine. Before I took my vehicle into the shop these symptoms or problems were not there intel I left align-tech.Desired Settlement: I ([redacted]) would like the repair of whatever the issue or problem that is goin on with my 2002 ford explorer to be repaired and fixed. My vehicle was running fine with no problems except the struts and the alignment, tell I left align-tech.

Regards,

Review: I was referred to this business by a friend in the tire business. I took my Corvette here, expecting a "buddy" discount and a quick alignment. Initially, this business seemed OK, with a helpful staff and a clean shop and waiting area. Rates seemed fair. So I leave the car and get a call about 1/2 an hour later. "You need inner and outer tie rods". "And shims". "And labor". The salesperson was unclear about total costs, saying he'd need to call me back. Stupidly, I OK'd the repairs over the phone, knowing that inner and outer tie rod ends are about $100 a set. And about 1/2 hour to put on, each side. I came back to pick the car up after about 3 hours. THREE hours. So imagine my chagrin to see FIVE hours of labor ($555) charged on this job, plus WAY marked up prices on my tie rods and alignment shim labor, which should have been part of the alignment, They handed me a bill for $920. Yes, a $920 alignment. One that was supposed to be close to free. I resisted a bit, and called my friend, who talked to the manager, who lowered the bill suddenly to $820. On the spot. This showed an incredible lack of intgrity on the spot- I mean, why not stick to your guns. This is where my suspicions began. Here's the best part. Car still pulls to the right. Changed the tires- still pulled after new tires. So, third alignment in 5 days, and guess what? My $920 alignment? WRONG. W-R-O-N-G, improper and incompetent. A Corvette shop looked at the car and determined that the front wheels were toed out excessively, the passenger front was WAY over-shimmed to creat POSTIVE camber (not a good thing) and the rear toe and thrust angle was jacked up. AND... Get ready for it... They didn't properly center my steering wheel. $920. The Corvette Shop mechanic told me that it was the worst Corvette alignment he had ever seen.Desired Settlement: So, I feel completely ripped off. I feel that I'm into this business for 3 hours of labor and parts, a total of $400. Not $820. I feel that this business did not present me with a written estimate, and performed work without my signature. I feel that this business owes me a full and complete refund of my money, for my wasted time and for giving my car a completely unsafe alignment. Bottom line is that this company performed $$$ labor without my authorization in writing, and owes me.
