Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: Their response is nothing but falsehoods! My original response was based purely on facts and I believe we went the extra mile by bringing in a 3rd party to corroborate our findings. I stand by my original statement of this vehicle having pre-existing issues. It carries more merit to get the advice of a certified mechanic who specializes in foreign vehicles from his hands on diagnosis, as far as the *** techs in Utah, it is my experience that they do not diagnose a car over the phone, they may have to him only what the "code" means but we have yet to verify that claim. In response to Mr***s claim about my "close business associates" with *** *** Automotive, I have only known *** *** for a short time so the accusation of a conspiracy is grossly inaccurate besides the fact that they would never jeopardize their reputation and trust from the community.I closing I want to reiterate my previous statement, the timing belt was NEVER removed while in my shop therefore the damage he claims we are responsible for cannot be so, I feel that he is just looking for a scapegoat

Dear [redacted],The following is in response to Mr. [redacted] claim. After discussing the situation with my mechanic as well as a 3rd party ASE Certified mechanic this is what we have determined. When Mr. [redacted] had the car towed to us this is what he explained.  They would start the car and it would...

immediately die and they had done this approximately 50 times before getting the code that the Crank Shaft Position Sensor needed replaced.  After pushing the car into the shop to begin the job we observed that the upper cover had already removed and was cracked and glued back together.  We always begin a job by looking up the specs in [redacted] (an online catalog of vehicle repair), which called for removal of both sections of the timing belt cover.  In order to remove the lower portion (upper was already removed) we must loosen the alternator, remove both serpentine belts, lower harmonic balancer pulley, and water pump pulley.  When the timing belt was exposed my mechanic marked the belt and the pulley just to make sure there was no movement while installing the sensor.  He also noticed that one of the serpentine belts was beginning to fray and needed to be replaced.  The Crank Shaft Position Sensor is located behind the timing belt which makes is extremely difficult to replace.  At no time was the timing belt removed nor did it move position during installation of the sensor.   Mr. [redacted] came in to the shop and saw 2 belts on the floor and he automatically assumed one was the timing belt, my mechanic explained to him that they were both serpentine and showed him the frayed belt that needed to be replaced, Mr. [redacted] agreed and said to replace it.  When my mechanic reassembled the cover, belts, and pulleys he then turned the engine over with the key, the engine acted like it was dragging, he then stopped, removed the passenger tire and used a ½” breaker bar with a 5/16” socket and rolled the engine over by hand off the harmonic balancer pulley, he was able to turn it 1-1/2 revolutions, the engine acted like it was hitting valves.  At this time we called Mr. [redacted] and told him what was going on, he said “the car was running, what did you do?”  We then double checked our work and requested a second opinion from [redacted] Automotive who specializes in foreign vehicles.  I called Mr. [redacted] and told him he had more problems than just the sensor and recommended he take the car to [redacted] Automotive.  Mr. [redacted] responded by saying “he wasn’t going to pay to have it taken over and that we would have to take it ourselves.”  [redacted] is the technician at [redacted] Automotive who assessed the situation and diagnosed that 6 of the 8 exhaust valves were broken and the other two were bent, he also said that that kind of damage can only happen while the vehicle is in motion at higher rpm’s not just by turning the ignition. The following is a direct quote from [redacted] the ASE Certified mechanic from [redacted] Automotive: “Upon inspection of Mr. [redacted] 05 [redacted], we found that 6 of the 8 exhaust valves were broke off and the other 2 exhaust valves were bent.  This was due to the timing belt being significantly out of time primarily on the exhaust cam.  The timing belt was new and showed next to no signs of wear.  With that said, in my opinion. The vehicle has not ran since the time the timing belt was last changed probably due to incorrect installation of the belt…”In closing I would simply like to state that we did exactly as Mr. [redacted] requested to the best of our ability as well as including the proven knowledge of another professional.  We strongly believe this vehicle had pre-existing issues that Mr. [redacted] may or may not have been aware of.We pride ourselves in going above and beyond to help each and every customer and feel that we go the extra mile.  We are pedantic in our duties and customer satisfaction is our main goal.  We hope the Revdex.com finds this information to be very helpful in bringing closure to this matter.

I am rejecting this response because: Their response is nothing but falsehoods! Car ran before towed to All About Tires and their mechanic's failure and ineptness to do the job correctly caused damage to my car. ASE certified mechanics does not mean they (mechanic) is an expert
in car repair. If mechanic at All About Tires was uncertain he could do the job, he should have immediately left car alone and contacted me. He or owner did not. Owners brother, [redacted], can verify car was running as he "coded" car to let me know what the car needed. This was also verified by a phone call to [redacted] Techs in Utah. The car needed a Crank Shaft Position Sensor only. The mechanics at [redacted] Automotive in [redacted], to which owner had towed my car WITHOUT MY AUTHORIZATION TO DO SO, are close business associates of [redacted], owner of All About Tires and I feel they and she have conspired to cover each other as Ms. [redacted] refuses to take responsibility that her mechanic caused the damage to my car. Having been in the Automotive business for over 40 years, I know a lot more that Ms. [redacted] will ever know about automotive repairs. If car had been damaged while running at a high RPM, car would stop at location where damage happened-it would NOT be able to be driven home. Regards,
[redacted]

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:Ms. [redacted] is still refusing to own up to the FACT that her mechanic is the one who damaged my car.  And as I previously stated car would NEVER have been able to be started OR driven home if the damage happened as she has stated and this is a FACT. She is leaving me no recourse but to seek remedy from the Court System.
Regards,
[redacted]
