I've been on the Do Not Call Registry since it was invented. I get calls from this business anywhere from monthly to weekly. There are SEVEN pages of complaints on 800 Notes about this company, the vast majority of people posting complaints are on the Do Not Call Registry.1) This company needs to "rescrub" it's system.2) I have a two other phone numbers which I didn't include in the original complaint. ###-###-#### and ###-###-####. REMOVE both those numbers as well.I will post the company's reply on 800 Notes and direct people to file complaints with the Revdex.com. If they indeed "scrub" their system then Revdex.com shouldn't receive more complaints. We'll see.

Review: We received a call for a routine chimney cleaning from All American Chimney on Monday June [redacted] in the early evening hours. On Wednesday June [redacted] the company came in the morning to perform this service. During the cleaning, my husband was told that the chimney collapsed and that its repair was urgent. My husband is not a strong English speaker and in a panic agreed to the repairs after fearing they were extremely necessary but trusting that the estimate was accurate and also fearing that the repairs could not wait. Later on my son was able to call the house and speak to the owner of the company, who was doing the work along with other workers. The owner promised that he gave us the best possible price and that no other company would work with us the way he would. He was assured that the repairs were necessary as well. During the weekend after having more time to truly research and ask about the company, the damages and the repair costs we found that the repairs were were overpriced and that this company has had issues like this in the past. I even found a report done by abc about this company taking advantage of costumers by convincing them to get urgent repairs on the spot that were much more expensive than they should have been. [redacted]

We are still waiting for them to come and finish the work they started which we were told would be completed within a day. Today is Monday June [redacted], 2013Desired Settlement: We are not trying to scheme money out of anyone. All we want is to pay a fair and compatible price (based on other company estimates), receive an equitable refund, and to receive a guarantee that the work will be completed and done the right way. We do not want to be dealing with similar repairs for quite some time. This is the same chimney that worked perfectly well after super storm Sandy and winter storm Nemo and yet could not survive a simple cleaning.

Dear [redacted]:

An appointment was scheduled by the [redacted] family for a routine cleaning and inspection of the flue and chimney for the home heating system at [redacted].

Upon our arrival a thorough inspection was per formed by our technicians and it was determined that the original unit was a prefabricated chimney with a stone enclosure which was in a serious state of disrepair. The interior of the unit had collapsed and the exterior stone was detached from the roof creating a structural and functional hazard.

In order to affect repairs, it was necessary to cut through the roof and remove the affected por tion of the chimney to prevent any further damage. In addition, the flue lining needed to be replaced from the roofline to the burner to insure safe venting of the burner exhaust. The section of chimney that needed replacement required a custom manufactured 47.5 inch high stainless steel enclosure with finished exterior to be installed from the roofline up.

The homeowner was provided with a free, no obligation written estimate. The homeowner appeared to our technician to have a language issue, so the entire process was outlined and explained to the homeowner's daughter as well to insure that there was a clear understanding of all costs and schedules associated with the estimate. It was clearly stated that all materials were special order and was agreed upon before any work commenced. In addition, later that day, the homeowner's son called our office and once again the entire estimate and associated costs were explained in detail to ensure that the entire situation was clearly understood. Our estimates carry a three-day right of cancellation from the date of signing. This right was not exercised.

As a safety measure, the flue liner was installed same day to ensure that the chimney was venting safely in order to maintain any heat or hot water needs the homeowners might have until all work could be completed.

The remainder of the work was completed approximately one week later when the custom enclosure was delivered to the site.

At no time was any concern expressed by the homeowner or the homeowner's family.

The pricing of all materials and labor were included in the final agreed upon price of the repair before any work commenced including the removal of all damaged components, installation of a 25 foot double-walled, UL listed flue liner, replacement of all smoke pipe (four sections of 6 inch pipe), two 6 inch tee connectors, four 6 inch elbows and the custom built stainless steel prefabricated enclosure box. All work per formed is guaranteed as is our company policy and all stainless steel materials are guaranteed for the life of the home.

It would appear that because the homeowner saw a televised report about an isolated incident involving another customer (which was resolved to the customer's satisfaction) contributed to this user's feeling that they were overcharged for this work.

At no time was the customer mistreated or mislead. All repairs were done according to local building codes and done to ensure the safety of the home.

Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance in this matter.

Regards,

All American Chimney

Review: On Tuesday, July **, 2014, three men arrived by appointment representing All American Chimney & Duct Cleaning, Inc. for a $30 chimney cleaning. The older man in charge showed me paperwork representing the company. Paperwork was bogus as this company isn't registered/approved with Revdex.com in MA. The older man [redacted] stayed with me in the kitchen while one man went on the roof and the other in my basement. The one in the basement told me to come down IMMEDIATELY as he said "he found a problem." The connection from the boiler to the wall was loose. (It wasn't before they arrived.) After he continued to wiggle it, he asked if he could look into the opening "to see the problem." He said he could detect moisture and some debris from inside chimney. I HAD A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION HE SAID THAT NEEDED MY IMMEDIATE ATTENTION! When I asked what that would cost me, he said $3,600 for new boiler connections and upgrade, plus a 25 ft. stainless steel liner! When I balked at the price, he began to play "let's make a deal" offering me a senior discount, etc. When I said that I wanted two other opinions, he pressured me more to get the "work done immediately" as there was a danger factor involved, and system would be more efficient in the winter. This bantering continued. As a female senior citizen living alone, I felt threatened by this older man who was under pressure from his boss to "make a sale" at all costs. I had no way of getting these men to leave. The man on the roof said that I had a leak in my chimney. I paid this company $2,800 for the above materials and an hour's worth of work. Only two of the men worked. The older man was in charge of pressuring me to get work done. After men left, they went to my son-in-law's down the street and put the same pressure on him. He paid with a credit card and promptly cancelled payment within the hour. Shortly afterword, my contractor arrived and told me all the work done WAS UNNECESSARY and that I already had a clay liner in perfect condition.Desired Settlement: I would like a settlement for the amount of $3,000. I have suffered needlessly over this scam and someone has to put a stop to it! They never sought a builder's permit with the Town of [redacted] and will be fined if caught in town. I have had trouble sleeping and eating and my blood pressure has risen. I will contact the Attorney General's office in both MA as well as NY if this situation isn't mitigated. I acted in good faith with this company. CALL [redacted] ###-###-#### AT COMPANY.
