We performed the work exactly according to what the customer asked for He selected and purchased all the parts himself and he was not happy when they were not able to be mounted in the way that he wanted them to be mounted When customers bring us parts to install, unless there is a safety issue we do not question their decision, we make it work The customer has admitted that he purchased a part that was incorrect for the application, and I have phone text records to prove it I also have text records that prove that I went out of my way to help him select the right part the second time around, which fit perfectly No mention was made of any scratches or blemishes when the gun was picked up, and the customer paid and left It was only hours after the fact that any mention was made of an issue The customer has also complained that the scope is not level, but it is level to the bore of the rifle The rail on top of the rifle itself is not level, which is a factory defect As a matter of fact, the rails on the receiver and the rails on the handguard are not even level with each other, let alone level to the bore, which leads me to believe that the blemish in question is just one more factory defect We even offered to fix and re-finish the blemish mark The customer initially declined, saying that he wanted that whole section of the gun replaced Later he asked for us to fix the blemish after all as we had initially offered, but at that point we had already refunded his money This customer was verbally abusive to my entire staff on multiple occasions

safety issue we do not question their decision, we make it work.  The customer has admitted that he purchased a part that was incorrect for the application, and I have phone text records to prove it.  I also have text records that prove that I went out of my way to help him select the right part the second time around, which fit perfectly.  No mention was made of any scratches or blemishes when the gun was picked up, and the customer paid and left.  It was only hours after the fact that any mention was made of an issue.  The customer has also complained that the scope is not level, but it is level to the bore of the rifle.  The rail on top of the rifle itself is not level, which is a factory defect.  As a matter of fact, the rails on the receiver and the rails on the handguard are not even level with each other, let alone level to the bore, which leads me to believe that the blemish in question is just one more factory defect.  We even offered to fix and re-finish the blemish mark.  The customer initially declined, saying that he wanted that whole section of the gun replaced.  Later he asked for us to fix the blemish after all as we had initially offered, but at that point we had already refunded his money.  This customer was verbally abusive to my entire staff on multiple occasions.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. The business owner's response is not at all accurate concerning the events that took place. I asked him to mount a rifle-scope - a simple request that did not include working on the rifle regardless of whether or not the correct mount was used. A competent gunsmith would have contacted and informed the customer (me) that the mount did not fit, then suggest getting a new one. Instead, he cobbled it together damaging the rifle in the process. I did not notice this damage when I initially saw the poor work he did as it was covered up from the wrong mount (his wife said they thought about calling me, but didn't); I immediately refused to accept the rifle until the mistake on his part was corrected - the rifle was then left at his business, I did not take it home.I was the one who found, ordered, and had the new mount shipped directly to him - his only involvement in the process was confirmation that it "should work" when I sent him the specifications of the mount I selected - claiming he found the new mount, on my behalf, in any way, is a falsehood. Claiming I was abusive to him or his staff is an outright lie, spun in response to this complaint, and in hopes of justifying his lack of integrity. I remained calm and respectful at all times; we are both Army Officers, he is senior to me (I am required to be respectful). I too have records of the text messages sent back and forth that are attached to this message - you will see no disrespect or abuse in any way, in fact, I called him "sir" the entire time and was always polite. Now, he is claiming that the rifle is defective - that is simply not true. This is Kimber Firearms' flagship $4,500MSRP rifle - they are thoroughly inspected before shipping, there is no defect. For whatever misguided reason, he tried to utilize one-half of the rail meant for scope mounting (instead of the single rail alone as he should have), and a separate accessory rail located on another component of the rifle for the other mounting point. Not only is this illogical to do for a gunsmith, any layman could look at the rifle and see that something was not right when cobbled together in this manner. Mounted the way it was will not keep the scope in line with the barrel - this alignment is essential for correct operation and accuracy. Claiming the scope is mounted level to the bore is a Red Herring - the scope itself is not mounted with the crosshairs vertical in relation to the rifle, and looks crooked when looked through - this is basic gunsmithing that even he could not seem to accomplish. As far as accepting and paying for the rifle, and not reporting the damage until later: this guy's reception area has no tables, no chairs, no furniture at all but a TV for his kids to watch movies on while he runs his makeshift business - there was no easy way to inspect his "work" while holding a 15-20 pound rifle by hand in poor florescent overhead lighting just before they were about to close. I am confident that he was aware of the damage before I reported it, but was hoping I wouldn't notice it. He even sent a picture after the first failed attempt that conveniently has the damage just out of the frame when he claims there was none. Also, when you view the damage (picture attached), it was clearly not a random impact or manufacturing blemish, but exactly in line with the mounting rail and consistent with his initial and incorrect first attempt - the first mount made contact with the stock because it was placed in the wrong location by HIM.As the part AAFT damaged is on back order for months, I did ask him if he would attempt a repair in the meantime, but he just ignored, and continues to ignore, any communication with me despite the fact that his website claims, "We believe that customer satisfaction is our most important end product." His response to my further concerns were/are, "Let us not speak of this any further." A man and business owner with integrity would accept responsibility for his/her mistakes, and take action to correct them - instead, he further dishonors himself by lying and refusing to acknowledge his responsibility to make things right. Please review conversation attached; my words are green, his are grey. It reads in groups pulled directly from my phone left to right, there is no disrespect or abuse at all on my part.A closeup of the damage is also included, it may look relatively minor, but the baked on finish is damaged down to the aluminum below - a "touch-up" will not only not match color and finish, it will flake off over time as it is not heat-hardened for hours like the rest of the finish at high temperature. I gave him a brand-new, unfired rifle - it is not unreasonable to want it returned in the same condition.
