READ THIS before calling All American Garage Door I called this company because one of my garage doors was not working The person answering the call told me there would be a $charge to come out plus labor and parts if needed [redacted] arrived the next day around 5pm Within about minutes of arriving he walked over to the buttons on the wall and switched the button from the "lock" position to the "unlock" position The garage door worked! We both chuckled at how easy the solution was The rollers ran a little rough and he offered to replacer them at $per set x 10...so $1, I declined He then spent the next minutes spaying the rollers to lubricate them (which I didn't ask for but I thought was good service) He returned to his truck to write up the bill At this point I thought that maybe he'd cut me a little deal since the visit was so short and simple but I said nothing, knowing that I understood the $that his company charges just to have him drive out A minute later he produced a bill for $129...$for the call fee and another $for labor I was shocked! I said the lady on the phone said $plus labor and parts if needed He said by him flipping the switch he fixed the problem and that was considered labor I said I wanted to call the company and talk to the owner He said "I am the owner" My jaw dropped and said "well, you can make an executive decision then" He held his ground and said he fixed my problem and that I owed him the $for laborHe even put on the bill that it was "minor labor"Considering he was a pretty big and intimidating guy, I wrote him two seperate checks, one for $and the second for $ I wasn't about to confront him further and for the $I would rather he just get off my property He cashed both checks that night I think the person taking calls for his company should have explained the costs this way..."it's a $charge to pull in your driveway and another $for our technician to get out of his truck" That way there would have been no surprises This is exactly how it took place...if you think he is right then call him for service, if you think he is wrong then don't

READ THIS before calling All American Garage Door. I called this company because one of my garage doors was not working. The person answering the call told me there would be a $69 charge to come out plus labor and parts if needed. [redacted] arrived the next day around 5pm. Within about 3 minutes of arriving he walked over to the buttons on the wall and switched the button from the "lock" position to the "unlock" position. The garage door worked! We both chuckled at how easy the solution was. The rollers ran a little rough and he offered to replacer them at $100 per set x 10...so $1,000. I declined. He then spent the next 3 minutes spaying the rollers to lubricate them (which I didn't ask for but I thought was good service). He returned to his truck to write up the bill. At this point I thought that maybe he'd cut me a little deal since the visit was so short and simple but I said nothing, knowing that I understood the $69 that his company charges just to have him drive out. A minute later he produced a bill for $129...$69 for the call fee and another $60 for labor. I was shocked! I said the lady on the phone said $69 plus labor and parts if needed. He said by him flipping the switch he fixed the problem and that was considered labor. I said I wanted to call the company and talk to the owner. He said "I am the owner". My jaw dropped and said "well, you can make an executive decision then". He held his ground and said he fixed my problem and that I owed him the $60 for labor. He even put on the bill that it was "minor labor". Considering he was a pretty big and intimidating guy, I wrote him two seperate checks, one for $69 and the second for $60. I wasn't about to confront him further and for the $60 I would rather he just get off my property. He cashed both checks that night.
I think the person taking calls for his company should have explained the costs this way..."it's a $69 charge to pull in your driveway and another $60 for our technician to get out of his truck". That way there would have been no surprises. This is exactly how it took place...if you think he is right then call him for service, if you think he is wrong then don't.
