In order to submit a payment online using ShelterPoint Life Insurance Company's ("SPL") ACH Bill Payment Service, a customer must first agree to the Terms of Use for the Bill Payment Service. SPL's Bill Payment Service Terms of Use state that SPL "will incur no liability if we are unable to...

complete any payments initiated because...You did not provide us with complete and correct payment or transfer information." The charges assessed to [redacted] resulted from a penalty charged to SPL by its merchant provider for having been provided incorrect banking information, which prevented the merchant provider from drawing funds from [redacted]'s account. SPL does not retain  or save its customers' banking information and is therefore unable to verify whether the information entered is correct at the time of submission via SPL's online Bill Payment Service portal. However, as a one-time courtesy, SPL is refunding [redacted] the $20 fee that he paid in connection with this transaction.
