Review: I had a leak in the roof caused by a cracked vent pipe on our roof that was leading from our master bathroom. All American roofing sent [redacted] out to replace it. That was in October 2014.

On December 08,2014 it rained and we had water come into the bathroom where [redacted] had replaced the vent pipe and there was a lot of water where we had had not had any before.I called

[redacted] on his cell phone on 12/09/2014 and he came out and checked our attic and found there was a leak, he said he had a full schedule but he would try to fit us in that week, he never showed up. On 12/13/2014 I called [redacted] and he said he forgot about us but he said he would be out that week. On 12/15/2014 I again called [redacted] and was told he forgot about us again but he said he would put us on his computer, he never showed up or gave us a call. On 12/23/2014 I called All American up and they tried to get him on his cell phone but he was not answering

she told me she would try again but I never heard from them again. On 12/26/2014, 12/29/2014, and 1/05/2015 I called All American and was told each time they were putting us on their computer, but nothing has happened not even a call back. On one call I asked if I needed to call in another company and repair our roof and if they found it to be poor workmanship that I should send them the bill and I was told that they would not honor it because their tec did not check it out first. Today 1/08/2015 I again called their tec,[redacted] and was forwarded to voicemail. Can you help with this problem I know I would give them an F rating. I have called All American or [redacted] a total of 10 times and nothing has happened, I kept a list of the calls.Desired Settlement: At least a call back because my roof still needs to be repaired and if they do not want to come out then a refund for what they charged $ 400.00

On 10-13-14 an estimator met with the customer and after checking his roof gave him an estimate to repair two pipe collars and area under a front window. The costumer signed the proposal and the work was completed on the 19th of October. There was no report of any problem with the repair for 6 weeks and there were several rain events. On 12-9-14 the customer called the technician to report a leak. Our technician went to check the new leak which was approximately 6' from the pipe collar which had been repaired. Unfortunately the customer didn't call the office until 12-23-14 so we were never aware that there was problem. The office contacted the technician and asked him to call the customer to set up a time to investigate the leak. This was the start of the Christmas holiday and our company was closed until after the new year, as it is every year. When the customer called the office it was our 24 hour answering service that was taking the calls, since the office was closed. It is unfortunate that all this has happened to the customer but the work that was performed in October was not poor workmanship those leaks were repaired. We have set an appointment with the customer on 1-14-15 for a senior technician who has been with the company for more than 16 yrs. to check the new roof leak.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Review: Earlier this year, we experienced leaking in our ceiling. The point of entry was the chandelier in our master bedroom, right above the bed. We contacted All American for help repairing the leak. We have several roof lines on our house -- right above the bedroom is a flat rubber roof. Slanted down right above that and meeting at the seam is the main shingled roof. [redacted] from All American came out to look at the roof. He said the problem was coming from the shingled portion of the roof (he said the rubber portion was in excellent condition) and the repair would cost about $650 thereabouts. However, he said that the entire roof would have to be replaced in another year. That being the case, we went ahead and elected to replace the entire shingled roof. The cost was around $10,000. A month or two after that repair, I was in bed when the ceiling was again leaking through the chandelier -- in the EXACT same spot. What followed was months of trying to get someone to come out to fix the problem. After multiple phone calls and more leaks, [redacted] came out with a technician who located two potential points for the leak--one was in the shingled portion of the roof, and one in the RUBBER portion [redacted] had said was in excellent condition. This was frustrating because (1) if the leak was coming from the shingle portion then it was a problem with their work, and (2) if the leak was in the rubber portion it meant we were out $10,000 for replacing a shingled roof that didn't yet need replacing. The problem with the asphalt roof was repaired shortly thereafter, and someone was supposed to come put on another layer or rubber the following week. No one came that week, but it did rain that week (our roof only leaks with significant rains, so while it was raining it was not enough rain to result in a leak), so we were not surprised they didn't come. I emailed [redacted] and asked that he inform us when someone would be out. In the meantime, our electrical was so damaged from the leaking that we had to go ahead and replace the light fixture in the bedroom and do some repair work to that electrical and hope for the best (that the repair they did complete was the correct one) because the old fixture had become dangerous and we had no choice but to address it then and not later. We never heard from [redacted] again, and a month has gone by since they were supposed to come and put another layer of rubber on the roof. The weather has been appropriate for this job most days in the past month (it has to be 42 degrees in the afternoon and no rain for a day). This morning, we awoke to water pouring through the same spot. I contacted All American again but did advise that we feared we would have to take this to the next level to ensure it would be repaired.Desired Settlement: We would like someone to come out ASAP to complete the job, meaning to put a layer of rubber on that portion of the roof. Due to the danger of the electrical situation with the point of entry for the leak, and due to the fact that this was the same leak they were supposed to have fixed months ago, we believe that we should "move to the front of the line" for this repair and it should be completed immediately, rather than us having to wait for an opening in the schedule.

Review: In October of 2013, I contracted with All American Roofing for a new roof. [redacted] came in November to do the job. Tragically on the second day of the job, [redacted] collasped on the roof and died the next day of a brain tumor. Work on the roof came to a halt. All the shingles and the caps had been laid but half of that had not been nailed and completed. I also had new skylights installed but neither [redacted] or I were happy with the way they looked so [redacted] had ordered others. After numerous calls to [redacted] came with a crew to install the correct skylights. I told [redacted] that the roof wasn't completed and showed him areas of concern. He and his crew walked over the roof, trimmed the excess from the outside edges, did a little glueing in one spot and pronounced the job complete. We had as you know, a bad, wet winter and I now have four spots on the ceiling indicating that the roof in the uncompleted area is leaking. I called to report this in mid March. [redacted] came and spent a grand total of three or four minutes here. He dashed in and glanced at the water marks on the ceiling and dashed out saying the office would call the following Monday. He did not go up on the roof. Of course, no one called so I called them. Now we are into April and I am dealing with [redacted]. He was susposed to come on a Saturday but called to say it was his wife's birthday and he would come in the morning on Sunday instead. Well, he showed up around 5:30 PM and said he didn't have all the supplies he needed and he would call on Monday. He, of course, did not call. I called the office and [redacted] said he was out of town until Friday and he would call. He did not. I think you get the pattern by now! Now we are into May. He was susposed to be here this morning May 9th at 10 AM to complete the job. He called at 10:45 to say he was "stuck up north" whatever that means and will be here tomorrow afternoon and I should be happy that he called! I told him that was the proper way to conduct business and he hung up on me. At this point, all I want from these people is the new, leak-proof, completed roof that I paid for. I don't think that is too much to ask. How do they maintain an A rating with you?Desired Settlement: Complete the job to my satisfaction now.

As of May 10, 2015 -- [redacted] went to the homeowners house on Sunday to complete the repair, which he did and homeowner to his acknowledgment was satisfied with the job -- Mr. [redacted] purchased flowers for Ms. [redacted] due to it begin Mothers Day -- when Mr. [redacted] left the homeowners house -- she was very happy customer.

Review: April 1, 2014 this company identified two cracked shingles on the rear of our roof which created a leak in our kitchen ceiling. [redacted] (worker) came and accessed our roof and attic and showed us pictures of the troubled spot along with a picture of a possible sealing problem around a pipe flashing. [redacted] verbally told me and my wife "You can just have me put some black goo over those cracked shingles and hopefully that will last about 10 years or you can do it the correct way". The correct way's quote of $880 consisted of the removal of 11 shingles from the valley above the gusset and install new weatherwatch underlayment and replace with new shingles. This also included the removal of the buried 3" pipe flashing and to install new underlayment there also. We approved this quote and had this worked preformed. The next rainfall we found that the leak/problem was far worse than before! We immediately called All American Roofing to report that their repair didn't fix the leak. We were told that someone was in the hospital (or something like that) but that they would send someone out that following week. In the meantime we reported our interior damage to our homeowners insurance company and an adjuster visited this past Tuesday, 5/6. The adjuster discovered that there was a large slit (possibly 20 inches in length) across the saddle liner and the black roofing material right near where [redacted] performed the repair work. The adjuster used his measuring tape to hold up the flap that was created by "a worker's negligence when the repair was made and it still had water under the flap" (adjuster's words). He has a picture of the finding and we are waiting for a copy to be sent to us. He stated that the entire underlayment was soaked under the slit. I called the roofing company again and voiced my compliant (while the adjuster was still here) and was told that someone else would be by to check our roof. Charlie Granger arrived and I accompanied him to the roof to show him the inspector’s findings. [redacted] had no explanation for how this could have happened but was willing to simply apply more roofing goo to seal it (totally unacceptable as this is the cheap fix that we declined on the original quote as it was explained that it wouldn’t last!). Bottom line is that this resulted in far more interior damage which now includes damaged recessed lighting, larger portion of drywall area, larger area of insulation and vinyl floor seam up-heaving. We are now awaiting the next rainfall to see if our kitchen ceiling will still leak.Desired Settlement: We originally just simply wanted the worker’s error fixed (correctly) but the attitude and the "We don't warranty repairs" statement from the company floored us. I stated to him that due to the negligence of his worker he created a worse leak which is even bigger than the original and now we are filing for an even larger insurance claim for the interior damage. I questioned how he could possibly not guarantee his worker's repairs or his worker’s accidental damage. In the end I am now stuck with an invoice for $880 owed to All American Roofing and am awaiting the damage report via our insurance company. Seems like I could have just gotten some black roofer’s goo and slapped it up there myself and saved time, money, aggravation, mess, etc.

Response:

We believe the facts of this case have been distorted in the [redacted]’ complaint. Our records show that on April 1, 2014 our project manager/estimator, [redacted], had an appointment to meet with [redacted] to determine the cause of a leak at the [redacted]’ house and to recommend a possible fix for the leak. [redacted] met with [redacted] and determined that there was an issue with the way the valley was constructed on the old multi-layered shingled roof, which was a potential cause of the leak. [redacted] also found several other problems that he recommended be fixed as part of this repair. [redacted] signed the proposal on April 7 so [redacted] scheduled the work.

The repair as described in the proposal was completed on April 26. On the evening of April 29 [redacted] called our office (left a message with our answering service) to report that the roof had leaked during the heavy rain he had. In the morning on April 30 [redacted] from our office called [redacted] to get more details about the leak. [redacted] explained that he had gone into the attic to try to find the leak point. His explanation to Ms. Cook was that the leak was in a different spot from the area [redacted] repaired and that [redacted] had alerted [redacted] that the roof really needed a more extensive repair to insure no future leaks, but [redacted] said he did not have the finds available for a larger repair. [redacted] asked All American Roofing to send someone out to take another look at the roof to see what could be done to fix this leak.

When [redacted], another AAR Project Manager/Estimator, arrived on May 7 he went into the house and [redacted] showed him where the leak was. [redacted] then went into the attic to try to find the leak point in the roof. [redacted] determined that the leak was not coming from the valley that [redacted] had repaired but was instead coming from a lower area on the roof where the higher sloped shingled roof changed to a low slope modified bitumen roof. [redacted] and [redacted] then went up on the roof together to look at the roof exterior. [redacted] complained that we were not honoring a warranty on our repair. [redacted] attempted to explain that AAR performs the work described in repair proposals in a professional manner, but we never warranty that this will fix all leaks on a roof. [redacted] inspected [redacted]’s work and found that all of the work in the original repair proposal had been completed per the contract.

At this time [redacted] pointed out a clean cut in the flashing cement on the flat roof near the base of the valley where [redacted] had worked. He claimed that this was an obvious mistake made by [redacted] and was careless workmanship. [redacted] is an experienced roofer with more than 30 years in the trade. The cut was an obvious one that even a rank amateur would have seen. The possibility that [redacted] would have made this cut in the first place is negligible and the thought that had would have left the cut un-repaired when he left the house is unthinkable. We have no way of knowing how the cut happened on the roof, but we deny that it was the work of All American Roofing.

[redacted] discussed the two possible options for additional repairs on the roof to fix the problem caused by improper installation of the second layer of shingled roof (by some company other than All American Roofing) sometime in the past. [redacted] was going to calculate costs for the two options and [redacted] asked that the written proposal be mailed to him.

There were storm clouds moving in with rain forecasted that afternoon. [redacted] had some roof flashing cement with him and decided to patch the cut in the roof at no additional charge to [redacted] to try to provide some protection for the house during the upcoming rain storm.

Before [redacted] could send his estimate we received this Revdex.com complaint. Subsequently, we also received payment from the [redacted] for the repair [redacted] did. All American Roofing has no plans to pursue more work with the [redacted] at this time.

Sincerely,

All American Roofing

Review: We called All American Roofing in 2012 because we had a leak in our roof, that was leaking into our downstairs bedroom. They sent a technician named [redacted], who came to fix the area of the roof that was causing the leak into the bedroom. We paid him $595.00 on August 22, 2012. About a week or so after he supposedly repaired the roof, we had a strong rain storm and found that the roof was leaking in the same place in our downstairs bedroom! My husband, [redacted] called several times until he got ahold of someone (I believe it was the owner) who he could talk to about this problem. Supposedly, another representative was sent out to correct the leak. We never got any update from them to tell us what they did! They left a tool behind, so we thought someone had come to fix the leak problem! In the past few months, my husband has been leaving messages about our continuing problem with the leak, but NOONE ever responds to his calls!! The business card he has here at the house belongs to a [redacted], Project Manager, All American Roofing. I believe that this is the person that my husband has been trying to reach on the phone, but NEVER gets a response or a return call!

Our bedroom ceiling and two walls, in the far left hand corner of the room, have been ruined by the continuous leak!!! It will be costly to get this repaired, after we get another roofer to come and fix it, as All American Roofing should have done!!! We paid $595 to All American Roofing and got absolutely NO BENEFIT from the costly payment!Desired Settlement: We should get a refund of the $595, since they NEVER corrected the problem!!!! Come look at the mess that is left in our bedroom, as proof!! We do not trust this company to fix the problem. We have already given them ample time to resolve our issues, but they have a terrible customer service/satisfaction approach!

Response:

In 8-2012 on the initial interview for the appointment the client stated there was roof damage from an over grown tree on the right side of the house. Our installer went out to inspect the damage. He gave an estimate to repair missing shingles on the right side of the house and to repair 4 pipe collars. The client accepted the estimate and the work was completed. The invoice was mailed on 8-16-12 and payment was received 8-28-12.

I cannot figure out the phone call problem. At the bottom of our invoice it states “call with in 72 hrs if you are not completely satisfied.” We did not get any calls at the office until 12-30-13, at which time we set and appointment on 1-2-14. This was during a time when the company is shut down from 12-24-13 to 1-2-14.

On 1-2-14 a representative from our company met with the client, checked the inside damage. Then went on the roof to check the work. Our work replacing missing shingles was on the right side of the roof, opposite side of the interior damage. Our representative took pictures of the roof area that was causing the problem and showed the client. The pictures are attached to this complaint.

Our company can not be held responsible for damage that was located on a section of the roof we did not repair.

Review: I purchased a new roof from All American Roofing. They recommended I buy the top of the line GAF Timberline roofing shingles which I did. I have received docs that these shingles may be defective and that there are law suits on these shingles. I have called All American Roofing and asked them to please inspect my shingles and they have not returned my calls. Their customer service was very challenging to speak with and augmentative. They also installed new gutters and guards. One gutter in particular has leaked since the day it was installed. numerous calls to Brian over the last couple years to have this repaired have never been returned. They call you when they want your business but afterwards, nothing.Desired Settlement: Inspect my roof for defective tiles and repair this gutter. I want to be there.

Customer was contacted on April 9, 2015 to set up an appointment to come out and look at his roof and gutter --- customer stated he did not want us to come out and look at his roof -- he is going to wait to see if his shingles become part of the GAF Lawsuit -- he currently does not have an issue with his gutter -- customer will contact us if he has an issue
