The job is complete

Review: I have a binding contract with All City to complete a home renovation / addition project. the Contractor has not staffed the project properly and sometimes not all ( many days in a row have gone by with no work completed ).

The owner continues to provide misdirection and misinformation regarding the anticipated completion of the project.

The project began on August 19 and was to take 10 working days. As of today, 17 business days have expired and the project is something less than 50% complete.Desired Settlement: This project needs to be completed in the next 7 working days ( or sooner ).

Review: I signed a contract for roof replacement on my residence July 30, 2013 and tendered a $650 deposit. All City contracting cashed my check, which cleared my account on August 7, 2013. Contract terms included a provision that all work would be performed within 60 days of signing the contract. "Steve" a representative of All City Contracting stated it looked like the work would start about mid August. The work did not start about "mid August", but at that point I had no reason for concern. All City has not contacted me at any time after August 7th. I called All City Contracting on August 28th 2013 and left a message with the answering service requesting information on status of my contracted work. I received no response. All City Contracting was contacted me on September3rd 2013 and message left with answering service. I received no response. All City Contacting was contacted by me twice on September 26th 2013. I received no response. At the very least, All City Contracting has really no concern about customer relations. That is, the customer comes last. The worst case is that All City Contracting is conducting a fraudulent interprise.Desired Settlement: I want my roof replaced as agreed in the contract, in compliance with all Milwaukee County, City of Milwaukee and State constuction codes.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. The new roof was completed on Ocotober 15th, but reinstallation of a railing that was included in the project was not satisfactory. The company returned on October 23, 2013 to correct the faulty installation of the railing. As of October 23, 2013 the project appears to have been satsifactorily completed.

Review: Complete tearoff of roof was completed but there was leaking near the fireplace. I have called many times to have them repair the damage with no results. There is water damage and now there are ceiling tiles coming down.Desired Settlement: I would like the damage to be repaired. Replace ceiling tiles damaged by leaking.

Response:

We have been out of toms house repaired the leak I've told him that once the weather breaks we will come and repair the inside to make sure there aren't no more leaks. Also we have to return phone calls and the number we have not right. If he needs to contact us he can call my cell phone ###-###-#### otherwise we will contact him when the weather breaks. And I wish [redacted] would just be honest you do not have a ceiling tile hanging down all you need is a little paint on your ceiling tile

In December of 2012, All City Contracting removed the old shingles off the main house and replaced them, added a Cobra Snow Country exhaust vent on the roof ridge and also removed and replaced the rubber roof on the utility room that is attached to the main house.
All City Contracting had replaced the rubber roof on our flat roof garage in October of 2010 and they did a good job on it. No problems.
We contacted [redacted] the owner of All City Contracting on 9/24/2012 because the roof on the house was leaking where one of the dormers meets the roof. [redacted] came out the same day and looked at the roof and said that the previous contractor had installed some of the shingles incorrectly and he would recommend a whole new roof.
He gave us a price and it was reasonable and we figured since the rubber roof on the flat roof utility room, which is attached to the house, was installed in 1990, that we would have them replace it also. IT HAD NEVER LEAKED in the 22 years that it was installed but it was showing signs of age. [redacted] gave us a price for that also and it was reasonable. [redacted] said it would be about 2½ weeks before they would get to us but that they would have to do the rubber roof before the temperature got below 44 degrees F because the adhesive used on the rubber roof could not be used below 44 degrees.
They did not show up in 3 weeks and I called [redacted] multiple times over the next couple of months to see when they would be here. They finally showed up on 12/6/2012. When I asked about the temperature being below 44 degrees, I was told that they had a new adhesive that could be used below 44 degrees.
They replaced the shingles on the house and then worked on the rubber roof on the utility room. They supposedly finished the job on 12/12/12. When they were finishing it up it was late in the day, and very cold and dark. They had replaced the flashing on the chimney for the wood stove so I checked to verify that the chimney was aligned properly with the stovepipe. It was not! One of the workers said he thought it felt pretty loose when he put it back in. If I had not checked it, what would have happened?
The next day, 2/13/12, I checked their work and found that they had broken the cement siding in one corner, the terminal bar installation did not look very professional, some of the rubber roof was not held down by the terminal bar, the gutter supports were more than 24 inches apart, the screws holding the terminal bar had more that 8 inches between screws and there were areas of the rubber roof that was not laying flat but had bulges in it.
I called [redacted] and told him my concerns. [redacted] the foreman, came out the next day. He said that the bulges in the rubber roof were caused by gas from the adhesive and he would come out in July of 2013 to roll them out. I told him he could repair the cement siding in the summer also and that I had some siding they could use. He said he would have two men out on 12/17/12 to fix the other problems. They showed up on 12/19/12. Neither [redacted] nor [redacted] called to say they could not make it when they said they would be here.
On 5/14/13 I noticed that the adhesive was not holding in multiple spots at the seams on the rubber roof. I called [redacted] and left a message regarding the seams and also that the cement board I had to replace the one they broke was not long enough to replace the one that was there without splicing it. The original one was not spliced.
On 5/17/13 I called [redacted] again and he answered and said he had planned on calling me today. He said he would have [redacted] the foreman call me. [redacted] called and said he would be out on 5/21/13. [redacted] didn’t come out on 5/21/13 and never called.
I called [redacted] on 6/4/13 and 6/5/13 and left messages wondering what had happened to him and why he didn’t call. [redacted] called me back on 6/5/13 and said he would be out that afternoon. He never showed up and didn’t call either.
On 6/6/13 [redacted] came out at 6:30 PM. I showed him all my concerns. He said he would be out on Wednesday of next week, 6/12/13 to fix everything including the broken siding. He never showed up and no phone calls from [redacted] or anyone else.
We called [redacted] and left voice mails on 6/13/13, 6/14/13 and 6/17/13.
On 6/19/13 [redacted] finally came out. He said that [redacted] the foreman no longer worked for him but he would have someone out on 7/2/13 to fix everything.
On 6/21/13 during a rainstorm we noticed water leaking in the utility room ceiling in three places where the flat roof abuts up to the house. I called Tim and he said he would have someone here on 6/26/13.
On 6/26/13, [redacted] the new foreman and another worker came out and when the new foreman saw the roof he commented that it was installed when it was too cold. They then glued down some of the rubber roofing that had come loose and supposedly fixed some of the other problems. When I checked there were still gaps of 18 and 24 inches between screws holding down the terminal bar rather than the 8 inches maximum and gaps of 48 and 30 inches between hangers on the gutters rather than 24 inches maximum.
On 8/22/13 we had another heavy rain and the roof leaked again in the same spots. I called [redacted] again and let him know that they had not fixed the leak. [redacted] called and said he would be out the next day, 8/23/13. He did not show up until 8/26/13. He said they could put a drip cap on but we decided to try caulking it again rather than start cutting into the stone siding on the house. He added more caulk. I told him we had not had a leak in 22 years until they put a NEW roof on.
On 8/30/13, 9/19/13, 10/10/13,10/15/13 and 11/18/13 there were rainstorms and the roof is still leaking.
They have come out a few times and worked on trying to fix the leak but have not been successful in fixing all of them.
November 2013 and we still have a leak. [redacted] does not return my phone calls. We called [redacted] and left voice mail messages on 10/11/13, 10/15/13, 10/23/13 (3 times), 11/4/13, 11/5/13, 11/8/13, 11/9/13 and 11/20/13 (twice) and he has still not called us back. [redacted], the foreman will sometimes call and say they will be out and they do not show up. He does not always return my phone calls.
The day that [redacted] gave us the quote for the new roof he commented that they would always answer our phone calls and if there was ever a problem. They would fix it because that is the professional thing to do!!
On 11/20/13 I called [redacted], the foreman and asked him what they were planning on doing next. He said they would have to put a drip cap in but that [redacted] said WE WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR IT and they would charge time and material. I asked if this was how their warranty worked? He said it was not covered under warranty because of something to the effect of the unusual water conditions. I said to him that it was just a rainstorm! I told him that it is not right and that he should have [redacted] call me to discuss it. He said he would let [redacted] know.
On 11/27/13 we wrote and mailed a letter to [redacted] at All City Contracting regarding our dissatisfaction with his company.
On 12/6/13 [redacted], the foreman called and said they had received our letter and were wondering if we would be agreeable to having a third party come and look at the utility room roof. I agreed but told him we were not going to give All City Contracting anymore money. I told him that next Monday or Wednesday 12/9/12 or 12/11/12 would be a good time for someone to come out but they should call us before coming.
No one ever called us on 12/9/13 or 12/11/13.
It is now 5/12/2014 and we have never heard from All City Contracting or a third party contractor and we just had a rainstorm and the roof is still leaking.
On 5/13/14 we called [redacted] at All City Contracting and left a message with his answering service and it is 6/18/14 and we never heard back from him. It is raining hard again today, 6/18/14, and the roof is still leaking.
The roof supposedly has a 20 year warranty but what good it that if they do not come and fix it?

Review: I hired this company to replace a porch and a sidewalk and signed a contract March 13, 2015 which included a down payment of $1100. No one showed up until mid April to begin the work and at this time they took out the old sidewalk and started breaking out the old porch and then not to be heard from again until July. I left several messages with a woman that answers the phone. Finally in July they came a laid framework to pour the sidewalk (which already has a crack in it) The next time I heard from them was when they wanted to collect the balance which I paid of $1500. About 4 weeks later I recieved a call from the company they had contracted with for the cement stating that this company had not paid for the cement and that they were going to put a lien on my property. I have not been able to reach anyone at this company and have left numerous messages. The job remains unfinished with the framework still installed in the ground and leaving me with a front porch that is broken up and unuseable.Desired Settlement: I would like this job completed, including the porch, replacement of the cracked cement in the sidewalk, removal of their framework or a total refund. I also want the cement contractor that they owe money to paid so there is no lien placed on my property

Review: All City Contracting installed a new roof on our house in October , 2014. On August 19, 2104, we paid the required 50% deposit ($5,612.50) for materials to All City Contracting. All City Contracting has failed to pay the subcontractor for those materials. Subcontractor, Milwaukee Insulation, has now sent us a certified letter dated February 13, 2015, (received by me on February 27, 2015) stating that if payment for $4,654.97 is not paid to them within 30 days, the subcontractor intends to file a claim for lien on my property, in accordance with Wisc. Stats. I have contacted [redacted], owner, who stated he made the payment and would take care of this issue. To date, he has not contacted the subcontractor regarding this issue. And he does not return my phone call.Desired Settlement: To make the payment to Milwaukee Insulation for products. To not have a lien put on my house.
