Review: In November, 2012 I purchase a Genie garage overhead garage door opener from [redacted] in Danbury, CT. Suddenly this week the sensor light began blinking and the garage door would not open. We tried pushing all the buttons according to the manual, but nothing worked. I contacted Home Depot and agreed that I would pay $50.00 (charged to my American Express card) and Home Depot would pay $50.00 to have All Door come out to fix the problem. An All Door technician, named [redacted] arrived this a.m. and informed me that the circuit board in the sensor had gotten wet because it was not waterproof. I don't know how that could happen. He did not have another sensor on the truck to replace it with, so he left. I once again called Home Depot and they informed me that if it had gotten wet, it wasn't under warranty, but they had the part that I could purchase for $32.48 (it comes in pairs.) All Door called back to say that they have the part for $194.00 and I would have to pay another $100.00 for them to come back to install it. All Door informed me that their work order from Home Depot was just to inspect the problem, not to fix it. I had informed Home Depot that we tried everything in the manual and it had to be a faulty part. This is a big rip off, as I beleive the part was not wet as [redacted] indicated. He should have had lots of Genie parts on his truck when he arrived. He left the door on manual when he left, so it has to be opened by lifting it up and down by hand.Desired Settlement: After you review this situation, I want to be able to get my $50.00 refunded back to my Amex from Home Depot in Danbury. It was my understanding that they sent All Door to come to fix the problem, not to inspect it. The fact that no appropriate parts were on the All Door truck is gross negligence and a real rip off. The fact that All Door wanted to charge so much more for this little sensor and charge another $100.00 to come again to install it is the real rip off. I will purchase the sensor part from home depot for $32.48 and have it installed by my handyman. I will charge it to my Amex and hope that that amount will also be refunded to my Amex account for a total of $82.48. (50.00+32.48) Thank you for your kind assistance to this matter.
