A simple nail trim is not cause for alarm or reimbursement for a surgical ovariohysterectomy and vaccinations that the client requested and was performedNails grow back within 2-weeks and a nail trim will not impede an outdoor cat from climbing, hunting, or protecting itself during a fightThe client's complaint is frivolous and there will be no reimbursement for services performed with surgical consent on a legal anesthesia /surgical release form
Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: I was advised by this veterinary office to keep the cat confined in my bathroom for two days after surgeryIn the offices own words "Nails grow back within 2-weeks "I feel the statement "a nail trim will not impede an outdoor cat from climbing, hunting, or protecting itself during a fight" is simply made with the expectation that it will be accepted as fact because it was made by a professional Anyone familiar with cats, including other veterinary offices, is very likely to agree that cats have claws by nature for a reason and that the dulling or trimming of them would absolutely diminish the cats abilities with their claws in living within their natureThis cat routinely climbs a home made wooden ladder in my shop to get to the upper level which she has not been able to do since the trimming and could not do again till a couple of days agoI had the cat confined from the point of pi(3/17/16) till yesterday (3/5/16)I'll call that daysTheir office quoted me $if I'd left the cat overnight and I was quoted by phone a charge of $16/ day to board a catThey charge for keeping an animal confined and safe; why can't I expect the same compensation for the inconvenience of having to make special arrangements to keep the cat confined indoors? I'm essentially only charging a little more than $8/ day for the same type of service they'd provideIf the veterinary office can answer that question for me I would withdraw the financial compensation portion of my complaintHowever, nothing can cause me to voluntarily withdraw my desire to have the office either hang a sign stating "All cats will receive a complimentary nail trim due to safety reasons" or add an accept/ decline nail trim verbiage to the intake paper work
