Review: All HVAC has the contract to service the heat in the apartment I rent. Several months ago, when the winter started, my heat went out and I called All HVAC at my landlord's direction to have it fixed. They sent two technicians out who seemed as though they did not know what they were doing. Several days later, the heat went out again. This has been going on on for months and my heat has not ever been fully repaired. It will work for a week, or a few days, and then go out again. Each time, they send the same incompetent technicians, after extremely rude and aggressive behavior by the customer service rep who answers the phone. Recently, the only way to even get it to come on is to turn off and then on again all the breaker switches, reset the thermostat, and then it comes on for a few hours and dies again. Recently, I called, on one of the coldest days of the year, in which it was 30-something degrees in my apartment, they told me they did not know when they would be able to send repair technicians. The last time I called, when it was 47 degrees in my apartment, they flat out refused to send someone out, and the person who answered the phone hung up on me three times. I've spent in aggregate probably over 20 days without heat this winter and made no less than 5 calls trying to get it repaired over the course of months. In some instances, I have not even bothered to call them, and just slept elsewhere or with a space heater right next to my bad to avoid having to deal with this horrible company and their truly awful service. Right now, I have no heat, though it is 30 degrees outside, and they have indicated that they refuse to send someone to fix it for over 48 hours.Desired Settlement: I would like first and foremost for my heat to be properly fixed. Then I would like to protect other consumers from having to deal with this business and to ensure that they are in fact properly licensed to do what they claim to do and that they are employing trained technicians. It has appeared that their technicians are very unfamiliar with heating units and the people who answer the phone are not only indifferent and entirely impossible to deal with, they are aggressively hostile. I have never despite living in NYC for 15 years, filed a complaint against a business. I am not optimistic that anything meaningful will come of this complaint, but consumers should not have to be without recourse or subject to such terribly treatment and service with something as essential as heat during the winter.

Response:

In response to [redacted]'s complaint, please read the following.

[redacted] is a tenant of the property and does not pay any bills associated with her heating and air conditioning system. We had asked the current landlord that the tenant should not communicate with our office about her heating issues because the current HVAC system is over 30 years old and the land lord has been notified that the equipment needs to be replaced in order for the apartment to be heated properly.

[redacted] told us she is a lawyer and was going to sue us and in fact she is not a lawyer and she has no grounds for a law suit as she is not [redacted] of the space nor does she pay the service bills. [redacted] spoke to [redacted] of the company with such anger and enragement that he had to hang up on her several times so that he could contain his demeanor. She threatened him with many different scenarios.

We tried to respond to her service call a few times and she never got back to us then when she did, we finally went to the property on a Saturday, which is not a normal service day for the company. When our technicians left the heat was working. We cannot guarantee that it will stay working if the equipment is old and is in need of replacement. Finally, we are liable to [redacted] who pays the service bills for the equipment. We have not heard any word from [redacted], as to replace the faulty equipment as of yet. We apologize that [redacted] is unhappy with our service but the landlord has the ultimate decision in keeping his tenant comfortable as we can only provide temporary comfort when the unit is in need of repair. This kind of scenario happens all of the time at our company, we have many tenants in different spaces who are not responsible for paying their heating and air condition service bills, because [redacted] is liable for them. We treat each client in the same mano r and have not had any issues to speak of.
