Review: The stamped concrete work that I ordered was poorly done. The main issue is the color of the surface which was supposed to simulate slate. I selected a color and pattern based on pictures that were provided by the company. The problem is that the color was so poorly applied that sections of the concrete have no color at all and the overall appearance is a blotchy mess. Because the concrete has been sealed there is no way to correct what has been done. All Masonry claims that because I selected the color they have no liability and refuse to make an adjustment in the price.Desired Settlement: Acknowledgement by All Masonry that the job was not properly done and adjust the price by $500.00. The price I am being billed is $2,625.70 which includes removal of the old porch, pouring new concrete, stamping the concrete and sealing the porch and walkway.

Response:

I hope you are doing well and have had a productive week. We were contracted to complete Mr. [redacted] stamped concrete project and were able to remove the existing slate covered concrete pad and install a new stamped concrete landing back to the original dimensions. Standard Operating procedure for all stamped concrete projects involving any coloring of the installed concrete is to provide the customer with a color chart of all available colors that can be added into the concrete ready mix for their project and allow them to make the color selection so we do not have any issues regarding the selected color. Mr. [redacted] upon completion of the project sent me the following e-mail: [redacted],Your concrete crew finished up this morning and the product they left me with is very satisfactory. There were some issues however. [redacted] has probably informed you of the damage to my lawn. I checked with [redacted] and estimate that there is about $100 in damage. Unfortunately, the damage cannot be repaired until fall and I am left with a damaged lawn until then. I prefer to do the work myself so the $100 is for materials only. Let me know how you want to handle this.[redacted]At that time an invoice was generated and forward to the customer. As the weekend progressed I was forwarded a second e-mail regarding the project and he indicated the following: [redacted],Now that we have had time to better evaluate the porch we are quite unhappy with it. As you can see from the attached photo, it is a blotchy mess. When the porch was stamped the grey powder was evenly spread over the porch. But somehow between then and the sealing most of the color was lost. The result is something very unattractive. It has no resemblance to the slate look we asked for. Nor does it look like the pictures we saw of projects that were supposed to be similar.I look forward to hearing from you to determine where we go from here.[redacted]I personally contacted Mr. [redacted] on Monday, August 3rd to discuss the project. It was confirmed by Mr. [redacted] that his issue with the project had nothing to do with the quality of workmanship, but the coloring of the new stamped concrete landing. I explained very professionally that since he made the color selection that there was nothing we could do to change the color of the stamped concrete without removing the landing completely and re-pouring a new landing. This is not something we feel liable for considering Mr. [redacted] made the color selection.I took the time to send him a photo of a past project we completed where the customer selected a much darker color during the estimate process before a signed contract was signed. At the time of the color selection it is up to the customer to make sure the proper coloring is selected. I have been in communication with Mr. [redacted] and was surprised to see him file a complaint with Revdex.com and indicate a dollar figure he is wanting for a discount. This has not been discussed at all during our conversations.I am hopeful Mr. [redacted] will understand our stance as we progress towards a resolution.

Response:

Mr. [redacted],I hope you are doing well and had a wonderful weekend. I appreciate your invitation to look at the project in person. Unfortunately this is the busiest time of year for us and it is minimum of a half day dedication to drive to your residence and back. I feel I have a very good understanding of the project via photos you have provided and photos [redacted] took on-site. I did however think long and hard about your project over the weekend and have come to a hopeful resolution. In lieu of this dragging out and going through the potential Lien process I have credited your account $275.00 that is valid only today and will expire at close of business today. This is a credit that I am offering to have this issue resolved today. If you can give me a reply via e-mail that you accept this $275.00 discount I will consider this matter closed. Please advise as to how you would like to proceed. Thank you in advance for your prompt attention to this matter. [redacted]VICE PRESIDENT/MANAGING MEMBER

Review: I am a senior woman given an estimate for putting stucco on foundation. The stucco on front steps (only one done) fell off. Phoned, they came repaired. By putting stucco on warm days, very cold nights, and winter, by March the picture you see is my front steps, and also alot of discoloration of stucco occured. I went to office on [redacted] and made complaint, by which time I had filled what you see with flex seal and painted. I had never met [redacted], owner, just by mail. He came out took pictures and was to check on why discoloration and a hollow spot he found but didn't know why I would mess up my paint job even though the stucco is as you see.

Weeks went by and I called again, May 12th, [redacted] himself came, said he had several cases of discoloration and made a verbal promise to be in touch to put a stain block over stucco and repair my step. Haven't heard a word back yet. This company has no customer service, and are not reliable at all. All I have gotten, empty promises, no return call, and a warranty, they have their money, I have nothing. I also have All Masonry (How to Properly Install Stucco) Really! There are alot of questionable bad spots but he had his own opinion on those spots, I don't agree.Desired Settlement: I expressed to [redacted] that I would accept a stain block to be applied and my front step to be completely repaired. But to be quite frank, that's settling for less. He was to also take hollow stucco off of basement wall and repair. Fair is not to prey on seniors.

Response:

Hello. My name is [redacted] and I have personally been dealing with Mrs. [redacted] since her issues came to light. I would like to start off by saying that in no way do we as a company prey on the elderly or any other customer. We have been in business since 2008 and have always treated each customer as I would expect to be treated by any contractor doing repair work on my own personal residence.

When we initially arrived on-site we found the entire foundation of Mrs. [redacted] home painted with many layers of paint. We removed the deteriorated, loose sections and then applied a paint on Bonding Agent to the entire foundation of the residence. We proceeded to install two coats of stucco over the entire foundation of the residence. Mrs. [redacted] called to inform us of a section of stucco that was missed and we sent our crew back out the following day to apply stucco to the area that was omitted. We received prompt payment and zero complaints from Mrs. [redacted] at that time.

I have attached photos of how we found the project during our initial visit. You can see on the front left corner of the step in question a problem already existed.

Nearly a year passed and she contacted us regarding an area on her front step were the stucco was separating. It was obvious upon arriving on-site that her roof system stops right before this step and water consistently drops on the area in question. Before we arrived on-site Mrs. [redacted] had already painted and apply "Flex Seal" to the area in question. I personally informed her that I would arrange to have that area repaired and a small area in the rear of her residence that had started to crack due to underground moisture, which is completely out of our control. We carry a One Year Warranty and I wanted to make sure we upheld our end of the Guarantee. I also have offered to apply a concrete stain to the entire foundation of Mrs. [redacted]'s residence at no cost to help eliminate any color difference that is visible in some spots.

When you apply multiple coats of paint over the years to concrete there really is no guarantee that a color differential will not pop up in some areas when new layers of stucco are applied. We were able to remove quite a bit of the existing stucco on the foundation, but some areas were still quite strong and attempting to remove those areas would have caused more damage than anything else. There are also areas that are underground in the rear of her residence that have caused discoloration due to moisture.

I will freely admit that we have yet to be back to Mrs. [redacted]'s residence to make the repairs because this is the busiest time of year for our firm. We are still working on completing projects that we had under contract before I was able to visit with Mrs. [redacted] and come to a plan of resolution. I'm very hopeful to have a small crew available as early as the end of this week to start the repair process for Mrs. [redacted]. We will need to return in one to two weeks time to apply the concrete stain.

I would like to close out this response by saying this is our first Revdex.com Complaint and I personally feel it is unwarranted. Much like any Small Business in the country today we are fighting to stay alive, and while our response time may be slow at times due to promises already made to customers, this issue will be resolved.

I plan on making a full report once the project is completed with attached photos to confirm the completed work. Thank you.

Response:

I have reviewed Mrs. [redacted]'s further comments on her project and I am shocked to see this issue still open. I was sent a confirmation by Revdex.com closing this matter weeks ago. I originally told Mrs. [redacted] that we would return to her residence to repair any defective stucco and if she would like I would apply a concrete stain to her foundation. The application of the concrete stain was to be completed only by her instruction. While I assumed that we would be completing the staining I never received confirmation or color selection. Once I received word that the Revdex.com Complaint was closed I assumed she decided not to apply the concrete stain. A gentleman representing Mrs. [redacted] stopped by our office and explained that the issue had not been resolved, even though I have documentation proving different, and the issue was still open via Revdex.com. I explained to her representative that I would still be more than happy to uphold my offer and he subsequently provided me a concrete stain color selection. He then proceeded to hard press me for an exact date of completion. I explained as nicely as I could that we were currently 2-3 weeks from completing this due to prior commitments, but I would do everything I could to have it completed by 06/26/2014. At that time I did inform him that if there was any chance of potential rain that we would not be on-site and would be there once we had two days back-to-back where there was no chance of rain. It would be pointless to apply this stain and then have the color compromised by a strong thunderstorm rain that we have commonly experienced over the past few weeks. We are also supposed to have Heavy Rain over the weekend.

With that being said, we DO plan on staining the stucco foundation as promised, but must wait until Mother Nature gives us the green light. I will be sure to make a follow-up post on this site once the staining of the stucco foundation is complete.

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,

Consumer
