All My Sons Moving & Storage of Memphis, Inc. Reviews (2)

This review applies only to the Memphis branch. Let me start by saying NO, NO, NO, do not choose All My Sons Moving. Read as much or as little of this review as needed but let me warn you to look elsewhere for a moving company. To summarize the best I can, we selected AMS to pack all of our goods, store them in a warehouse in Memphis, then deliver about 1.5 months later to our new home in Chicago. We paid quite a bit for this service. They claimed they were different than other moving companies because they give you an exact date to deliver instead of a range of a few days. They were over 1-1/2 days late. When the truck did arrive, I knew it would be bad when my Weber grill was stacked sideways on the very top of the stack. Not even sure how they got it up there. As they unloaded the truck, we realized there was also quite of bit of furniture, boxes and other items which did not belong to us. Not sure how this happened either since this was another selling feature that our stuff would be stored separately and delivered on a dedicated truck. Again, we paid for packing, but the contents of kitchen drawers were dumped into boxes. Multiple pictures were not wrapped and many suffered damage. Our China was stacked on top of each other without any protection between them. Many were broken. Dishes and glasses broken, furniture scratched, TV screen smashed (was not protected) a stainless steel refrigerator was scratched beyond use. Furniture not covered. I could go on and on. We had multiple items damaged and destroyed which we estimated to be well over $4000. Then as the movers were finishing, I started to realize there were many things missing, most notably our antique dining room table, multiple tubs of Christmas decorations, lawn mower, daughters dresser and so much more. I called the first thing the next day, finally talked to Mike who told me he would look into it. Finally after multiple calls from me, he told me he located another storage area which had many of the things we were missing. He said he would send another truck with my goods in a few days. When it did arrive the dining room table was scratched badly and had NO protection on it at all. It appeared they stacked boxes on it in storage. The driver and unloaders also noticed all of these issues and continued to tell me how sorry they were and this was one of the worst they have ever seen. They said to me multiple times, "you paid for packing?" When it came time to settle they initially offered me $421 but after 10 months of back and forth I settled for an amount less than ½ of actual damage amount only because I am tired of dealing with them. My advice, pay for additional insurance whomever you select but DO NOT select All My Sons. You will be sorry like me.

Mover Beware!

In July, 2014, I used All My Sons out of Memphis, TN. They moved my furniture from Memphis, TN to Carrollton, TX. Because this was my first time using a moving service, I talked to the owner in detail about the process. He assured me that the guys were very professional and that his company is used annually by the local Children's Research Hospital to move the winners of their Dream Home giveaway. He stood behind his guys wholeheartedly.

The day of the move the movers and truck were supposed to show up at between 8:00 and 9:00am. At 9:30am when I had not seen nor heard from the company, I called the office and spoke to Eric. Eric told me that one of the movers was experiencing car trouble and the other mover had to go by to pick him up. For me car trouble was a legitamite excuse for tardiness; but, when I asked Eric why no one had called to notify me, his response was that he was the only one in the office and he did not have time to call me and besides it was only 9:30. I explained to Eric that the professional response to the issue would be to call, apologize and set a new time. Eric's response was less than professional and very dismissive. I knew from this point that using the company was not the best ideas. I was right!

So the movers showed up very close to 10am. The three guys were very apologenic about the tardiness. They were nice enough and operated in a very professional manner. They were efficient in loading my items which I had preboxed and mostly stacked in the garage. Once all items were loaded on the truck, I tipped the one mover of the three that would not be taking the trip to Carrollton, TX. Off the movers went.

On the next day, the movers showed up to my Carrollton, TX location on time as promised.

Before the movers can unload your items, you have to finalize the payment. At this time
I talked with the owner about the late arrive and he did agree to reduce my payment by $70.00.

So the guys began to unload my items. Here's where the problem comes in. One mover unloaded the headboard to the bed for my master bedroom. He propped the the headboard up against the wall. Well, some how the headboard tumbled over and hit the items that were on the floor. The wood headboard had a crack that ran across the top. The movers apologized for this incident and assured me that their insurance company would compensate me for this damage or send someone out to repair it.

The next incident occurred with my 55 inch HD, Smart TV that is less than 2 years old. The movers brought the TV in and sat it on the floor. The base of the TV had been removed and the mover was attempting to reassemble the tv. We worked with the tv for 20 minutes before deciding to look at it again after all the items had been brought into the home. Once the other items were moved in, the mover worked with the tv for another 20 minutes. He was finally able to assemble the tv back to the way he had received it. I tipped the movers and they were on their way.

The movers were nice guys, and I was fairly satisfied with the move. I thought, only 2 things: they were late and my headboard was cracked. This was not too bad with a household relocation from one state to another.

Well once I turned on my TV, I was surprised to see that their were colored lines running horizontal and vertical on the screen. It was very obvious that the screen had been hit as the lines begin at the point of impact. The TV was unusable. I was extremely disappointed. I had an independent repairman come out to quote the repair cost to the TV. The amount was $1300.00.

For the damages to the headboard and TV, I filed an insurance claim with the corporate office in Carrollton, TX. This was an experience in itself. It took the insurance company over a month to response to my request and they offered me $200 for the damage to my TV and the headboard. I did not accept this offer. It was insulting to say the least and accepting the offer would prevent me from writing any unfavorable reviews.

Overall, use this company at your own risk. Even though the movers themself were pleasant, I will never use this company again! This whole experience cast a negative shadow over my entire move. The cost to use a moving service is very expensive and the expenses to repair or replaced items damaged by "professional movers" can be enormous. The cost for me with the move and repairs was over $6000.00.
