I was looking for a company to only perform sanding, as this was the main part of the process where floors can be damaged severely (gouging, etc.). After offering a reasonable price quote and guidance for self-completion (I wanted to perform the actual finish myself) I made the decision to hire them to perform the work I wanted specifically. I make this review as unbiased as possible, based on observations.
They had arrived 1/2 hour late from the time that was agreed upon, however the workplace was prepared (they even covered my pet turtle's aquarium to protect her). They took their time sanding, going over it many times to ensure total coverage, repeating the process over "trouble spots". After removal of the carpet, there was a trapdoor that was hidden beneath that was made of plywood. They re-finished it along with the hardwood (which looks, meh, but neither they nor we knew that this was there anyway; I do not blame them). I'll have to cover it with a rug, but that's fine for the time being. Following the sanding, they did the initial coat of polyurethane (I had initially planned to re-finish all myself), teaching me how to complete the work on my own. Despite the quickness and deft skill of applying the finish, he let me do a portion of the floor myself, teaching me and guiding me along the way while continuing to work himself. What other company out there will actually HELP you do it yourself? Hard to find, people like this.
I am ready to complete the work, armed with the knowledge they taught me, along with an EXCELLENT job with the first coat. It looks 100% better than what it did initially. The only thing I am waiting for now on their end is the transition that he said he would give to me to re-install, where the hallway carpet had been removed. In closing, I cannot recommend them enough based on the overall friendliness, eagerness to work, the meticulous care that was taken while doing the job, and the information that was shared with me to complete the job correctly. Definitely worth giving them a chance to make your floors look great, and last for years. I can tell they take great pride in their trade.
