The following is summary timeline concerning my bad experience with APR Towing of [redacted].X-XX-XX: My [redacted] road service called APR Towing (APR stands for All Parts Racing, XXX-XXX-XXXX) to respond to my road service request in [redacted] The tow operator placed his tow hooks on each front control arm and pulled the vehicle onto the flatbed. I asked him if the positioning of his hooks would damage anything (because this had happened to me before in 2014 while vacationing in [redacted] He said no, this was where he always put them. We off-loaded the 4Runner at my mechanic's garage, [redacted], [redacted] owner [redacted] (XXX-XXX-XXXX).X-XX-XX: [redacted] called me with bad news and worse news. The bad news is the left front brake caliper had seized, warping the rotor, and the brake job for the whole front end would total about [redacted] The worse news was that both CV boots had been torn again. He warned there was a good chance the axles had been damaged again, too. The book price for the boots job was in the neighborhood of [redacted] if axles were involved it would be almost [redacted] He took photos and ordered parts.X-XX-XX: I called APR and spoke directly to owner [redacted] (gave no last name) who, surprisingly sounded agreeable to working out a solution with me. [redacted] would call [redacted] to confer and then call me with a resolution. [redacted] said [redacted] did call him, but made no remarks after getting the details. At this point it was only the boots job at issue.X-XX-XX thru X-XX-XX: Left [redacted] messages that I was waiting to hear back from him. No response.X-XX-XX: Informed [redacted]'s secretary that my next call would be to [redacted] and got a callback from [redacted] within 5 minutes. After telling me that his driver would have to pay me out of his paycheck, that the driver was going to probably quit over this, that they do these repairs "every day" and don't charge that much, that my mechanic was overpriced, [redacted] offered to cover the cost of just the boots, no labor. Since the boots cost [redacted] and the labor was going to run me another [redacted] I asked for something more helpful. He eventually agreed to send me a check for [redacted] for the boots job (have received no check). I was hoping that it was no more than the boots damaged because I was not enjoying the stress of these negotiations. X-XX-XX: [redacted] calls that one axle clip was broken, that my repair cost for this portion of the damage was going to be in the vicinity of [redacted] I asked him to download his photos and send them to [redacted] (to [redacted]), which he did. Heard zip from [redacted].X-XX-XX: Picked up [redacted] paying both bills in full. X-XX-XX around noon: [redacted] answers the office phone himself. He insists "there's no way traveling 10 feet" was the cause of the axle damage, that my mechanic broke the axle ends taking them off. (The distance the hooks are on the control arms onto and off of a flatbed probably is closer to 45 feet. The hooks slip down to the axle ends as the vehicle rides, then rip the boots when unloaded.) I asked him for his fax number to send him the final bill. He gave me XXX-XXX-XXXX. This number is not a working line. [redacted] answered the phone again and said he was "walking to his office right now" and would give me another fax number. 30 minutes later he gave me XXX-XXX-XXXX. Heard nothing from him the rest of the day.X-XX-XX at [redacted] Made one final attempt to speak to [redacted]. This was the conversation VERBATIM:(Male voice answers): "All Parts Racing"(Me): "Can I speak to [redacted], please?"(Male voice): "I'm sorry, he's been on the road out of the office these past two days. I can get a message to him if you'd like."(Me) : "OK, this is [redacted] calling. I don't appreciate being lied to. Tell his I expect a call back by the end of business today." (End of call) Big surprise, there was no callback from [redacted]. Although he appeared initially to be a stand-up business owner, [redacted] displayed increasingly dishonest and unprofessional behavior. When [redacted] (the outfit that matches tow operators with road service customers) contacted him, he admitted to the initial agreement to reimburse me something, but by the end of the conversation, he refused to accept any responsibility for the damage. The [redacted] representative said my other recourses were to file an insurance claim and possibly get APRs insurance to reimburse me, or, barring that, to take [redacted] to small claims court. My insurance company called APR Towing, but [redacted] never returned their call. Granted, they didnt try very hard, mostly because my policy has a [redacted] deductible. They seemed to think I could find out who APRs insurance carrier is. It baffles me that they think I could find this out when they couldnt. I have not decided either way if I will file a small claims suit. Thank you for your time,Product_Or_Service: tow damge to my vehicleDesired SettlementIdeally I would like the full refund of the bill to repair my axle and boot. [redacted] was faxed the bill. If he agrees to cover the original amount he offered, I will accept that.Business Response On [redacted] 2015, we were dispatched by [redacted] to tow a 1998 [redacted] Tow driver reported call was a standard tow with no unusual circumstances occurring. Customer did call approximately 2 weeks later to notify us that she felt there was damage done during the tow. We stated that we would be willing to cover damages if in fact we were at fault. The customer's mechanic sent photos, we reviewed the photos and spoke with the driver and determined there was no possible way that the damage shown had resulted from us towing the vehicle. On [redacted] 2015, we received a call from [redacted] stating that the customer had filed a complaint with them. We explained to the representative that we had reviewed photos and we had spoken with the driver and we concluded that we are not responsible for the damages to the customer's vehicle. [redacted] told us that they would review the complaint and get back to us. When [redacted] got back to us, they sent us over a copy of the customers complaint and they said that they had determined the customer's claim to be bogus and they didn't feel we were responsible for the damages. They told us that this customer had filed a complaint against another garage for exactly the same thing less than a year prior and that they had covered the cost for that repair. We spoke with [redacted] about this complaint that the customer has filed with the Revdex.com and they are willing to verify that this claim is bogus and is an attempt from the customer to get paid for repairs that [redacted] has refused to pay for (again) as well. [redacted] has agreed to support us as a witness regarding our decision with this claim. Consumer Response My most recent conversation with the representative with [redacted] regarding my claim was [redacted] 2015. She stated that no such call from APR Towing occurred, and at no time would any [redacted] agent make statements about a claim being bogus and pledging to back anyone up in court. When I file in small claims court [redacted] will respond to a court request for information at that time.Since the owner of APR Towing admitted to having agreed to cover part of the repair cost to [redacted] agent in the initial claims process, it is unfortunate that not only has he refused to follow through, but has begun behaving progressively more unprofessional as the issue has developed. Having an employee outright lie about his whereabouts in order to avoid speaking to me, not returning calls to my insurance company, and, finally, offering a total fabrication as his final response demonstrates dishonest business practices.Final Business Response Our most recent conversation with [redacted] occurred on [redacted] It is possible we have different contact personnel however, we have spoken with the same representative since the complaint was originally filed. It is the customer's opinion that she was lied to but the fact of the matter is, she was not present in the office herself and therefore can not prove she was lied to. There were 2 employees present in our office that day who can attest to the fact that [redacted] was out driving and intermediately in and out of the office during those days. To address this further, we are under no obligation what so ever to explain or disclose the location of the owner or of any of our employees nor are either obligated at any time to receive phone calls. [redacted] gets NUMEROUS phone calls daily from various people, due to time constraint and his lack of availability (APR is a widely known and respected company in several work fields), screening calls is a routine practice. Our previous response was based on a very legitimate phone conversation between myself ([redacted]) and with our contact agent at [redacted] We (and I personally) resent the accusation from the customer that we are "fabricating" this conversation or any of the stated facts in our rebuttal. I would suggest the customer refrain from any assumptions regarding the internal practices of our office. At this point she is teetering on the edge of slander which, I am sure you are aware, is a very serious matter which will not be taken lightly. At this time, we would like to ask if the customer received payment from [redacted] or what their stance on her claim actually is. It is our understanding that they have refused her claim. Perhaps the customer would like to explain why [redacted] refused her coverage for this claim and admit that their refusal of coverage is the reason why she has chosen to pursue her false accusations against [redacted] as this is what was suggested to us by the [redacted] representative that we have been speaking with.

Claimed to charge [redacted] for towing. When at destination, told me it's [redacted]My car broke down near Quabin reservior (on Route ** mile mark ** near [redacted] due to a brake problem on Saturday ([redacted] 2015). The state police called them up to help me tow my car. The towing person, named [redacted] (last name unknown), showed up and told me specifically that they charge [redacted] for loading up the vehicle onto the tow truck AND [redacted] for however many miles the car needed to be towed. So I agreed (didn't have much choice) and [redacted] and I drove to my destination [redacted] which is ~70 miles from where my car broke down (I know 70 miles because that's what [redacted] found on his system and told me). The total, according to [redacted]'s initial claim of [redacted] would be: [redacted] + (70 miles [redacted] = [redacted] is a friendly and chatty person. I thought I could trust him. After driving for about like 15-20 minutes, he started saying I need to pay around [redacted] for towing. I thought he didn't carefully do the math and since he seemed like a nice guy, I didn't say anything about that. Then [redacted] said I should stop at an ATM to withdrawl money. I asked him if it's possible to pay via credit card and he explained since it's Saturday, it can't be paid via credit card (which I thought was weird). In any case, I still thought I could trust this guy, so when he stopped at a Bank of America ATM on the way to [redacted] I withdrew money. Before I did so, I wanted to see if he actually meant [redacted] as the total charge, I asked him how much I should take out from the ATM and he said [redacted] That time, I started to worry that he really meant it. But I had not much of a choice (my car is on his truck and we were in a fairly busy area of a city), so I decided to get [redacted] out of the ATM just in case. When we got to destination in [redacted] and as I was about to pay, [redacted] said it costs [redacted] (exact amount; note that earlier, he was only mentioning it'd be around [redacted] Then I finally decide to call him out, and explained him that I thought it should only be just $285 as I calculated above. There and then, [redacted] changed his mood and behavior suddenly and became visibly upset/defensive and started to justify the charge of [redacted] He started saying that he meant [redacted] but even then, the math doesn't check out to [redacted] (because [redacted] + (70 [redacted] = [redacted] Then I became sure that he was trying to rip me off (because he knew I was in a desperate situation). I kept holding my fort and make sure to stress that I could pay more than [redacted] even if his claim of [redacted] is correct (which it is NOT). In the end, he agreed to just take [redacted] from me and left.It saddens me that people like [redacted] would take advantage of others in distressed situation like this. My faith in humanity took a hit on that day because I originally thought [redacted] was a genuinely nice person. Paying [redacted] extra isn't as big of a deal to me (although I'd prefer to have saved that [redacted] because I do not have much money myself) as someone changing their words on their customer, who is distressed.Desired SettlementOriginally claimed [redacted] 70 miles) + [redacted] = [redacted] but charged [redacted] 70 miles) + [redacted] = [redacted] Difference (overcharge) of [redacted] I don't really care much about getting back [redacted] as much as reporting this incident to Revdex.com so that something can be done to [redacted] (and/or his employer) to prevent them from doing the same to other people.
