In October of last year, I contacted Tyler P at this business to rebuild a transmission for me. I get it back after 10 days and it still has issues. I took the entire truck to the business and after nearly a month I finally get it back. The truck won't shift on first test drive and now won't move at all. I contacted Mr. P who said it needs to be adjusted. Correct me if I'm wrong, but after several weeks and two repair attempts, this transmission should be fixed. asked for a refund because obviously the transmission wasn't fixed. Mr. P told me he doesn't give refunds.
Product_Or_Service: Transmission rebuild

Desired Outcome

Refund I would like to be refunded the money I have spent because it's apparent that after six weeks in this shop, I need to find a new mechanic.

Customer came in irate over a 2 weeks span of not being completed over thanksgiving break. I myself (Tyler P) did everything I could for mr. and tried to resolve it the best that I could. the transmission began as a carryout that was in VERY bad shape with many problems. I sold him every extra part he needed at what it costed me to buy another core. I replace direct drum, input drum, reverse drum, whole pump, and entire valve body. only thing mr doug was charged for was the reverse and input drum. after getting the unit back together and back into the drive I drove it multiple times the best that I could and could barely make it back due to run ability of the truck. has multiple skipping issues, leaks, and starting. customer was addressed of these issues and was told I would preform other necessary adjustments and or fixes after he completed the repairs needed. he declined me making the repairs because of my time frame that it would take me to get it back to him. he total paid $850 dollars for me to rebuild the transmission with torque converter and parts as stated he had to pay extra for I did not install the transmission at this time. I brought the truck to me after having issues they smoked every piece in the transmission I warrantied it no problem even as I stated gave him extra parts at no cost. only thing mr *** had paid for was the remove and installation into the truck of the sum $300 dollars I included fluid and all parts and have always tried to be as fair as possible with mr ***. I told him I do not give refunds because I have money into the unit that he paid for but I do stand behind the build and would fix it. haven't heard from him since he said wouldn't shift out of second which I then told him detent would need to be adjusted to get shift points correct after repairs.

First of all, yes this transaction started as a carry out. Second, I was quoted a price for a COMPLETE rebuild. I was charged extra for the new torque converter. Everything else should have been included in the price. And third, I did smoke a thing! The transmission never moved the truck from the original installation. And I do know how to install a transmission. I took the entire truck into the shop for the 'warranty' work so there would be no argument if the transmission was not fixed again. The transmission is not fixed! I did go to the shop upset- 3 weeks after being told it would be done in 3-4 days! The truck did have some vacuum issues that caused a slight skip but not to the extent that it could not be driven. No 'detent' (whatever that is) is going to keep a properly rebuilt transmission from shifting. I understand Mr. P has time invested in this rebuild. However, the money invested is mine. I paid for a service that was not delivered, even after two attempts to do so. Every good businessman knows that there are times you have to take a loss and move on in order to keep the business moving forward. This is one of those times. At this point I do not believe Mr. P could fix this transmission and I have no desire to wait him out, which could very well be another 6 weeks. I just ask for a refund so that I can get the transmission fixed once and for all.

the truck had very much more than a slight skip, needed a lot of work at the time I worked on it. after the truck was brought to me it drove down the road and went into gear just fine every time. and yes there is a detent theres a cable going to the transmission that controls line pressure and hooks to the throttle. the complete rebuild consists of clutches steels seals gaskets bands bushings bearings etc. DOES NOT include hard parts such as what he was charged extra for the direct drum reverse drum and input drum. upon bringing me the truck back I removed the unit tore it apart to find the pump completely destroyed. still have that pump put up. causes of this can be lack of fluid, which when brought to me was over 3 qts low if engine revved it would move. I replace entire pump assembly with no charges to the customer. I did everything I could do for this customer it just one of those that can not be pleased, every business gets them. I still have not even seen the truck to see if and what is wrong with the unit that built that I've also got money invested in to the point I did it for no money or profit at all. only issue that I could not fix was the time frame for mr. doug

I guess my first mistake was bringing my transmission to this shop for work to begin with. My second was not test driving my truck before I brought it from this shop the last time. If wanting a working transmission or a refund for one that was not repaired makes me one 'those' customers that cannot be pleased, then so be it. And I knew once I filed a complaint, Mr. P would allege that I somehow caused the damage. That is why I kept our messages and at no time did he ever say anything about the pump being burnt or the fluid being low. In fact, I asked if the pump had been replaced and was informed pump did not usually get replaced unless needed. If the pump was never replaced and the truck never moved after the initial installation after the rebuild, then tell me how I burnt it up. I know this transmission does not work. I know this shop worked on it twice and it is still a non working transmission. I also know that I will not return my vehicle to this shop for any further attempts to repair it. It also seems evident that this shop will not take responsibility for their inability to deliver on their work.

You had a transmission repaired by me Tyler P even your receipt states that. I went as far as I could to please you. Pumps are not replaced in rebuild unless it's damaged or broken different transmissions have different style pumps yours is a gear first time I rebuilt the transmission is had no pump issue you returned it I pulled it and it was worn baldy. Also even replaced the whole valve body with another because of all the stuck valves did not charge for that either. I have been more than fair with you and never once said I would not fix your vehicle it is your choice to not want me to because you've had problems. When your transmission was a complete mess to begin with so I've done nothing but my best to sort it out for you. I've spent the amount of money from what you originally were charged plus some into the transmission. So therefore yes you are a customer that just can't be pleased. I told you that I did not give cash refunds but instead I would do what it takes to fix what you paid for!

Mr. P has worked on my transmission twice and now he is accusing me of causing the damage to a transmission that was never rebuilt correctly from the beginning. The first I heard that he would not give a refund was when my truck was already in his shop for the second repair. Why would I take it back to a repairman who could not fix it after two attempts and more or less just stated he will not be able to again? If as a business owner you understand there are customers who cannot be pleased, then you should also know that as a business owner there are times you have to take a loss in order for your business to survive.

If me fixing what I built isn't good enough do what's necessary to take me further to court, I've tried to fix issues and there isn't any with you other than trying to get something for free. I have more money invested in that unit than you paid. I even said whatever may be wrong I'd fix. Only issue that truck had when it left me was the shift points which in fact is adjusted by line pressure from cable. There's no reason that transmission should not move at all again and if there is I'd fix it other than that have a great day mr *** Will hear from you again soon
