Initial Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2015/06/27) */
The client is blowing thins way out of proportion, There was not a crack in the ceiling, but a repair he had made. I asked him specifically if there is any more to be done with repair and he said no, just apply orange peel to entire ceiling and...

it should be fine, I agreed that it should be fine also, however it did not look perfect in end (it was a patch) but did look just fine, however he is a perfectionist and trying to get extra out of us.
I walked out on the job when it was approx. 85% complete, and I was only paid half of amount due ($1200). I have never walked out on a job before, the client kept referring to ceiling, I finally had enough and walked off job for fear of not getting paid balance, the client got more than his money worth,
The items that he mentioned that were true (some are not) would have been taken care of by end of completion. I refuse to go back because we have gone back and forth on the issue and never get anywhere. I have never seen a client like this one and hope to never run into another one like it. There was a major lack in communication and nothing written from both sides to back up.
As far as court goes, I did not mention it. He threatened to take me to court and I said that is fine with me.
All Pro takes great pride in our work, this whole scenario is a first by far and I am hoping it is the last.
I feel bad the client is not satisfied but he is taking it too far.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 10, 2015/07/02) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
What All Pro Plaster actually said about the ceiling was that "repairing" it will make it look worse given there was already a roller painted texture to it and that spraying a coating of orange peel would cover it up. The other option All Pro Plaster offered was to paint a few layers with a thick roller but it had already been painted with more than one coat and that didn't fix it either so I told him to use his professional judgement as he is the one who does this for living. I did however make it very clear that the reason for retexturing the whole ceiling was to get rid of the crack/shadowing. The major issue with the ceiling didn't get fixed and that is the main issue in the living room. I am not trying to get extra work done just trying to get the work we contracted for completed properly.
He contracted to do work and then didn't communicate it well to his worker. For example in the basement bedroom there was a joint that needed to be fixed and he agree to fix it but everything else was done in the room but that. They also spilled paint over the floor in the basement bedroom. He was also suppose to texture the living room closet and he didn't do that either. There was paint drips on the walls. He painted over scott tape that had been there from the prior owner. The list could go on and on but I am just trying to get some sort of resolution. It's a shame he thinks I am "blowing this out of proportion".
He was actually paid 1,638.08 in total not the ~1,200 he stated. This was paid in two checks. One before he started (as he asked) and then second payment that he ask for and was paid within one or two days after request. He at one point said pay me the rest of the money and we will finish when asked how much more we owed he turned around and said no I am not coming back. So he says one thing and then changes his mind. He would have nothing to worry about in terms of getting paid if he would just finish the work to a satisfactory level. He has a hard time getting his facts straight which is incredibly frustrating since I have never been taken advantage of like this. Someone who does contract business should have scope of work in writing and I didn't get this until we asked him to do additional work. Which it said "Living Room repair as needed". I know I learned my lesson in that everything needs to be in writing.
When I sent Daryn an email he didn't even respond. So I had to use one of the only pawns I had which was to suggesting taking him to small claims court since he was one not even responding and two after he responded he was not going to do anything more. I asked him to at least come take a look at my issues and he refused. Basically my hands were tied. I have tried Angies list disputes but he refuses to work thru that. So I submitted a Revdex.com claim and now I am in the process of getting bids to fix his work and if the cost is significant my only options is take him to small claims unless he is willing to work something out. I am trying to work this out but he refuses but I am still open to working it out.
Final Business Response /* (4000, 12, 2015/07/02) */
I have pleaded my case with the living room ceiling, paint did get spilled on floor, but it is concrete and will be covered up by carpet or tile etc. As far as basement crack goes , I am not sure what he is talking about. I am not sure why the closet had to be textured, there was nothing to hide and was not discussed. I am pretty sure the paint drips were from water damage, possibly ice dams or condensation due to improper ventilation. Its possible scotch tape got painted over but probably had been painted over several times before us. I find it hard the list can go on and on, read all of our Angie's list reviews and you will see that All Pro is not that kind of contractor. The check for $368.08 was for the paint cost to the penny that he reimbursed me with. I have told him that there is no way I can please him due to his perfectionism.
We have never taken advantage of anybody, and he did get more than his money worth otherwise I would not have walked out. He is correct, this is one of the few jobs that we have done without an actual quote sheet written up with details, I learned my lesson not to have that mistake happen again. I have pleaded my case with Angie's list by the way, same as I have done with Revdex.com. As I have mentioned before, this is a case that has gone bad and I am not proud to be a part of it. I am not proud that we have dissatisfied customer but it is hard to keep every single client completely happy. I will not go back to this property for many reasons as I am sure you can gather why.
This case is closed on my end
