All Renovations have been used by a couple of people in our neighborhood and everyone had good things to say about them. Apparently there are a couple contractors that work for All Renovations. We had Edwin (F[redacted]) and F[redacted] and they were awesome! They were both really nice, trustworthy, polite, professional, punctual, skilled and tidy. The team did a great job on the work and the level of the finishing.
Bathroom:
In the bathroom we had a complete remodel: new tub, new vanity, lights, toilet and tiles. The team did a really high quality job and made sure that they talked to me about anything that I may have not considered or any design decisions. I am not great with design so I appreciated asking Edwin and F[redacted] for their opinions. The end result is fantastic and I was really happy with it. Their tile work is very good -- all the tiles were precisely cut and laid.
Kitchen/Dining room:
We didn't want to put in new cabinets in our kitchen to help keep costs down, but we wanted new flooring. They were able to remove the old flooring and cut it right up to the old cabinets, which meant that the new tiles were at the level of the old flooring so it looked seamless. They did an excellent job with the tiling. They also installed a new oven and microwave with an external vent, which we didn't previously have. All of it worked perfectly and looks really good.
On our kitchen ceiling there was a corner that needed patching. They cut out a couple of old tiles and then used drywall to patch the area. They cut groves in to the drywall/mud to make the new patch match the rest of the ceiling pattern and I can't even see the difference between the old and the new areas. They also did a great job at patching a piece of my hall hardwood and put in new wood and matched it with the old wood so you can't see the difference.
In the dining room we had our old ceiling replaced and some new spot lights put in. I have an old house so as they started removing the ceiling it exposed some old house problems like uneven joists that needed to be straightened for the new ceiling to be level and some old joists that needed reinforcing with new joists. It was stressful to discover these things as they were unexpected, but I was always shown the issue and we talked through different options (what happens if we leave it, various levels of fixing it etc.).
General:
The guys cleaned up at the end of each day. The first thing they did in the dining room was lay down cardboard to protect the existing floor. They laid down fresh cardboard for us to walk across in the evenings as well. When they were doing the bathroom, which was upstairs, they laid down plastic covering on the stairs and hallways to the bathroom. During demolition periods they put up plastic sheets to help contain the dust. We were away for a week over the work and the guys looked after my house respectfully and I had no problems when I came back. I will definitely use these guys in the future.

Dear Revdex.com,We sent the client the following response last May 15, 2015:Dave,I am in talks with Jim (lead foreman) on the next steps and it doesn't help that you involved the Revdex.com on this considering we didn't damage your door and it seems like accidental damage on somebody's part NOT including us. I inspected the door on the last day of the job and the garage inspection passed based on the door being functional which the county inspector inspected as well. We have records of this that can be provided by the County if it gets to that. Now the warranty claims department for the manufacturer is also claiming accidental damage which once again is NOT due to faulty labor on our part. Our warranty also excludes materials failure which is clearly stated under our terms and conditions and I notified you of this several months back and I have email records of this as well. The door could have been hit or tried to be opened when the lock was on by you or any other vendors that may have come to your house after our job completion. We feel no liability on our end and no third party has attributed the door malfunction to our labor install. I asked Jim to explicitly state this and he has emailed me his statement that he didn't install the door incorrectly. This all seemed to drag on and it didn't help with the maid theft incident which I know Jim and Tony are still upset about. I have restrained from stating all of the above facts to the Revdex.com as it stays on the website and it won't help either party resolve the matter which is getting your door issue resolved. I think a fair resolution, although we feel no liability, would be for us to refund you the garage door cost of $400 and you can proceed with resolving the issue through repairs or whatever you deem appropriate thru another vendor. Jim and myself don't feel comfortable doing anymore work on your property and this may be the only solution here. But before we can do this we would need you to retract the Revdex.com complaint 100% and we can draft a legal document for both parties to comply by. I would of course need you to agree to this and Jim as well. Jim has not agreed to it yet and I understand his position is the same as mine but we really need to resolve this amicably. I need to discuss with Jim some more but I think I can convince him so we can all move on. If we cannot resolve this we will just state our side of the story to the Revdex.com and most likely like in the past nothing will come of it and the complaint will just go unresolved. This won't help you much at all. On a side note, you stated that we haven't done anything to resolve the matter but it was Jim who saw you at Home Depot a few weeks back, and said lets go get the warranty phone number from the garage door aisle but you didn't proceed with it. It was me who sent you the garage door link with all the specs and manufacturers contact number back in late January in hopes of you filing a warranty. Why should we do warranty claim legwork such as taking pictures when the door malfunction is not related to any faulty labor on our part therefore excluding it from warranty coverage? I have spent hours trying to resolve an issue, including filing the claim on your behalf, that we feel no liability whatsoever for but you state that you had to do all the warranty claim work. We had a hunch from the beginning that this was related to accidental damage which wasn't caused by us but I still tried to assist you nonetheless. END

Renovated 1950’s main bathroom, Removed everything down to studs and joists, Replaced damaged wood, reinforced and leveled floor, Installed new cast iron tub/shower and toilet, Installed 12*24 tiling in tub/shower, floor and half wall, Installed two shower niches and mosaic tile feature around entire room, Installed cabinets; and wall accessories, and Installed new electric circuit, exhaust vent, heater, and lights,
All Renovations was recommended by our neighbor who was in the process of having his 2nd bathroom remodeled by Omar. We were impressed by the quality of the work. After receiving three bids, we chose All Renovations (Omar) based on the quality of his detailed proposal, prompt responses, clarity of explanations, and attention to detail.
Edwin (Foreman) and Ferdys were our renovation team. They were conscientious, hardworking professionals who cared about the quality of their work and the care of our house. The pathway in and out of the house was carefully protected and the work site was thoroughly cleaned every night. We found them both really nice, trustworthy, and polite. They listened respectfully to our questions providing explanations and suggestions. For example, Edwin suggested that they could make their own custom shower niches better (and bigger) than ones we could buy. He was right. Our two niches add a very nice design element and worthwhile feature. Their suggestions are helpful and the quality of their work is excellent. Overall, we are very pleased with the outcome and would hire the again. Be sure to ask for Edwin and Ferdys.

Dear Revdex.com, We spoke to the client after this complaint was submitted and indicated to him that we felt this complaint was wrongly submitted. We had emailed him back in January of this year with the manufacturer's information to help submit his warranty claim and the client failed to do...

so. We told the clientthat his complaint was unjust and it wasn't our fault that he didn't submit his warranty claim back in January of this year.  The client acknowledge everything and said he was going to retract this complaint since we had already started the assistance process for his garage door back in January of this year and we are still trying to do our best to resolve the matter.  Please forward to client and take appropriate measures regarding our complaint history as this complaint should never have been submitted.   Syed R[redacted]PresidentAll Renovations, Inc

Dear Revdex.com and [redacted],
            Thank you
for forwarding this inquiry about our company and bringing it to our attention.
We have read the client’s complaint and statements and we would like to respond
accordingly and not divert from the signed contract we had with the client. The signed contract is attached along with the terms and conditions sent to the client. We
have outlined some of the key statements numbered below and our responses are
included.
         1. Client
stated that they had taken baths in the tub and no leaking occurred before
and that the jets                 were in working condition.
Company Response:
Initially we met with the client in Feb
2012 to discuss their bathroom remodel. The client clearly indicated to us that
they rarely used the tub and only wanted their shower area remodeled. We
promptly provided them with a shower area only proposal. Then later in the year
in Nov 2012 the client called us back and decided that they no longer had a use
for the tub since it was rarely used and that they would like to convert the
tub area into a large expanded shower area. We provided them with an estimate
to do this. Once again the client changed their mind in Sep 2013 and we
provided them with a third estimate to keep the tub as-is and make no changes
to it as they didn’t want to purchase a new tub due to the hefty cost of a new
tub. We clearly told the client that we cannot warranty or guarantee any issues
with the tub and we didn’t mention anything about damages being limited to the
demolition process only. We only indicated that due to the nature of the
demolition process we cannot prevent damages to fixtures not being discarded. This
was just one reason given for possible damages that may occur since most of the
damages occur during the demo process. Regardless, our work doesn’t cover
fixtures not being replaced and it’s clearly stated on our contracts. The tub replacement is an item that was excluded from the contract and therefore any coverage for it. This is found on the attached signed contract under "scope of work excluded".
Client
stated that the damage to the pump motor and hose occurred during the
cabinet installation only.
Company Response:
      This
damage could have easily occurred during the demolition stage as well because
the old vanity had to be removed as well. This is inconclusive and our main
concern is that the client waited nearly 6 months to contact us about the
issue. The client also withheld our payment upon job completion in Dec 2013 to test
everything out in the bathroom and no leaks of any kind were found. We were
paid nearly a week after job completion in early Dec 2013 which gave the client
plenty of time to discover any fault in our scope of work.  Since the client claims to have used the tub regularly,
we are certain the tub was tested in Dec 2013 and no issues were found.
Client
stated that the leak could have occurred due to a pipe burst in the tub
area when we initially started the job.
       Company
Response:
            This is
inaccurate because the pipe burst was on an elbow connection for the tub water
supply line. We quickly fixed this the same day. If in fact this is where the
leak is coming from, it would have leaked continuously and would have been
noticed well before the job was even completed. This type of leak doesn’t take
months to appear and is noticeable instantly.
We will further explain our findings below on where the leak is coming
from after meeting with the client in June 2014.

Client
generally has stated that we haven’t determined the leak source as of yet
but also states that the damage caused by us is at the tub pump/motor and
hose area.
Company Response:
This is
contradictory on their part as the leak is coming at the tub motor and hose
connection. The motor doesn’t function or turn on although the power outlet is
working fine. This was tested with the client on our site visit in June 2014.
Any failure in the power source would be excluded anyhow as we didn’t do
any work on the motor or tub electrical outlet. The client seems intent to find
us at fault and provide them with new tub parts to stop the leak some 6 months after the job was completed. Why can’t a material
failure have occurred? It happens all the time in the plumbing field.
The client is
well aware of all our findings above upon a meeting with [redacted] and our foreman in
June 2014. We sent the following email below stating our findings and comments
on the tub part failures. This is all still deemed accurate as of today. Part
failure is very common on old fixtures as connections and valves fail after a
certain time frame. We are surprised that their third party plumber would not
know this especially since plumbers do repair work all the time. We have also
not been provided with any true findings by the third party plumber about us
having caused the leak. We recommend for the client to contact the tub
manufacturer to determine a local service provider who can replace the tub
motor and fix the leaking hose. The motor didn’t fail due to our work and the
hose connected to the motor didn’t fail due to our work as we never removed or handled the motor or the hoses connected to it. Since the client claims to use the tub, this is something
that would have been discovered much sooner at our job completion or shortly
thereafter and not 6 months after the job was completed.
In summary, the motor most likely failed due to age and the hose connected to it leaks.  The tub and its parts are over 10 years old.
Email below sent to **. and [redacted] on June 17, 2014. In your email below dated May 11,
2014 you clearly stated that the jets were not working and the pump was leaking
water. The jets and pump are material failures which aren't covered under our
warranty especially since we didn't install or do any work on the tub.
Regardless, material or part failure is excluded. You have a copy of our
warranty. I can resend if you don't have a copy.  Anyhow we sent Edwin out
to make sure the leak wasn't coming from any of our work that we contracted for
and he confirmed it was not due to our work on June 9, 2014 after he met your
husband [redacted]. Edwin stated to [redacted] that the jets malfunction and the leak at the
motor was likely due to the motor failure and the hoses connected to it. They
have worn out.  We didn't do any work on the jets, motor, or your tub's
pump. This is clearly a material and parts failure due to an aged tub. Our
warranty doesn't cover material or parts failure and any contractor or
attorney, including ours, can confirm this for you. How can we be held
responsible for an old tub's motor, hose, gasket, or pump failure? This is an
old tub with old parts and it’s not something we can warranty as stated in our
terms and conditions. Our insurance carrier would confirm this as well in case
this escalates any further and they will address the matter with you and all
attorneys involved.
You also stated in your email below that you had somebody
look at the tub leak. I am assuming they said the leak is coming from our work
and that the tub parts and motor work fine, and that the pump is also not leaking.
This is why you are trying to address this matter with us and find us at fault.
If this is all accurate, please provide their report and/or contact information
so we can further investigate the issue. If the leak is related to newly
installed work by us, then we would be happy to address it and go from there.
Edwin has confirmed via an onsite visit on June 9, 2014 all of our findings
above.

PS- We have also cc'd our attorney in this matter to keep
track of any unfair defamation we may suffer from this claim if it’s found that
this issue was not due to our fault. We will then address the matter with the
appropriate legal course.

Review: Our selection of All Renovations (AR) to redo our bathroom was based on what we considered a professional response to our project. Both the owner, [redacted], and his principal worker seemed to know what we wanted. Further the Revdex.com gave the company an "A," which solidified our selection. AR was neither the lowest nor highest bidder. Here ends the positive part of the story.

At the end of the project, we invited [redacted] to review the work. He refused and was satisfied, he said, with the periodic updates from his principal worker. Not once during the six weeks of work did [redacted] visit the work site, which we found unprofessional. On 29 October 2013, We wrote him a final note explaining that had consistently ignored our requests to review the work and also cited the deficiencies in the work. [redacted] has not responded to any of our last three messages. Described below were the deficiencies (I sent photos along with my comments):

A) the tile placed on the left shower wall is 3/8s of an inch off plumb with the top wider than the bottom. There was no apparent reason for this.

B) the shower drain is deeper than it should be and this was mentioned to [redacted], but he had already installed the drain cap. The photo shows that the drain is 1 1/2 inches below the level of the shower floor and also shows the irregularity of the shower floor.

C) caulking at the bottom of the door jamb was not done.

D) use of chipped tile and faulty grouting and non-professional installation.

E) improper removal of grout from the tiles, resulting in a glaze that seems impervious to various solvents. Despite comments to the contrary, the principal worker had not previously worked with glass tiles nor used an epoxy based grout, which if not properly cleaned, will leave a haze.

F) grout is lacking or limited in various seams.

Would I recommend him? Absolutely not. [redacted]Desired Settlement: That the owner visits the site; acknowledges the deficiencies and comes to a monetary agreement on tile costs and labor and possible removal of and replacement of drain to correct height. . Moreover, that grouting and caulking deficiencies be corrected.

There are at least 15 glass tiles that will have to be removed because of the glaze. The tile that is chipped must be removed and replaced.

Business

Response:

Dear Revdex.com,

We are in receipt of **. [redacted]'s complaint and are disputing several of the items. We feel this complaint is mainly related to the client's failed effort in not being able to remove the grout residue left behind by the grout manufacturers faulty product. This complaint should really be filed with the retailer that sold the faulty grout product to the client. Upon job completion the client told our foreman the grout haze left behind was not our fault and that he would take things up with the retailer/manufacturer, as we read and followed all the directions in the presence of the client. We feel that the client has now changed stance and is augmenting the complaint by adding issues he was already aware of from the very beginning of the job. In responding we would like to stick to the clients' complaints labeled A-F and not sidetrack into a moot argument. We also never received any pictures from the client about any deficiencies in our work but we have attached our pictures that we took upon our job completion which will show our evidence pertaining to the complaints mainly in the haze left behind from the faulty grout. We also request the client forward to the Revdex.com pictures the client has claimed that he sent to us. Also our foreman and company have already told the client verbally and via email about some of his complaints mentioned below and we have told him these things aren't our fault. We can only spend so much time and resources stating our side to the client.

Complaints:

A)

the tile placed on the left shower wall is 3/8s of an inch off plumb

with the top wider than the bottom. There was no apparent reason for

this.

Company Response:

The client was made aware on a routine basis that his bathroom was over 50 years old and none of the walls were perfectly square or level and that there was nothing we could do about this but try to minimize it as best as possible with new framing. The client was made aware that his tiles were also not the same size with differences varying in size from 1/16 to 1/8 of an inch. This variation coupled with walls that aren't square shows a finished product that will be slightly "off plumb" in appearance. This is something our foreman showed the client during the entire job and made sure the client was aware of everything and specifically discussed it with not only **. [redacted] but his wife [redacted].

B)

the shower drain is deeper than it should be and this was mentioned to

[redacted], but he had already installed the drain cap. The photo shows

that the drain is 1 1/2 inches below the level of the shower floor and

also shows the irregularity of the shower floor.

Company Response:

We were never made aware of this matter and this is something we could have remedied if it was an issue. We have attached a picture of the shower drain which is designed to accommodate a dual shower head system the client had installed. The shower must be sloped a bit more than normal due to the volume of water being disbursed from 2 shower heads. The drain is also deeper than the rest of the shower floor, which is normal practice, as it helps prevent blockage if the client was to step on the drain while using the shower. This is also normal. The fact that the water is draining properly is evidence enough that the floor was done correctly. If the floor was "irregular" the shower would have draining issues.

C) caulking at the bottom of the door jamb was not done.

Company Response:

If this pertains to the Bathroom entry door then our foreman will come and caulk it for the client. We will also check our company record for pictures. If it pertains to the Shower door we cannot caulk this portion as we didn't contract for any work related to the Shower door.

D) use of chipped tile and faulty grouting and non-professional installation.

Company Response:

The client was shown all the tile work on a routine basis and allowed to look at everything before the grouting began. At no point did the client point out any chipped tile. Any tile chipped or cracked after job completion is not covered under our warranty work. We would like to see the pictures the client has claimed were sent to us. We can easily compare with our pictures and determine the outcome. The grout issue will be addressed in the next item labeled "E".

E) improper removal of grout from the tiles, resulting in a glaze that seems impervious to various solvents.

Company Response:

As mentioned earlier in our response to item "A" the tile size varied by 1/16 to 1/8 of an inch which created spacing issues in between the tiles. The client was told about his tile size issue and we told him to contact his tile retailer. We aren't sure if he ever contacted the retailer. This tile size issue created uneven spacing in between all the tiles and a sanded grout was recommended to the client. The reason a sanded grout was recommended is because we didn't want a non sanded grout to crack because non sanded grout is not recommended for large gaps in between tiles. Several of the areas could accommodate a non sanded grout but several of the areas couldn't accommodate a non sanded grout. The solution recommended was for the client to find a sanded grout from the retailer he purchased the tiles from. The client instead purchased an epoxy grout, which we warned the client not to use and wasn't in our contract agreement due to the issues we have had in the past, but he insisted because he didn't want a sanded grout on his shower walls. Regardless, the grout purchased was mixed in the client's presence and applied following all the directions while the client was onsite in the bathroom with our foreman. This would also explain why the client wanted to file a complaint against the retailer that sold him the grout knowing we had done nothing wrong because he was onsite with us while the grout was being mixed and applied. At job completion the client said he would take the matter up with the retailer and we are assuming his efforts for tile damage were futile. Somehow the blame has fallen back on us after the client was made aware of everything during the entire job from start to finish. There is nothing we can do about the grout haze the client is now blaming us for after stating the retailer was to blame at job completion.

F) grout is lacking or limited in various seams

Company Response:

Due to the faulty grout we cannot apply anymore grout onto the tiles. We applied as much as we could but the drying time was too fast which can limit some areas in application.

End of Complaints

In summary, the majority of the complaint pertains to the faulty grout product and tile size, provided by the client and this is not something covered by our warranty. The client has tried several methods in trying to remove this grout and not had any luck. This is evidence enough that the product was faulty because all grout should be removable with ease and should not have a permanent haze to it. The fact that the haze cannot be removed using all kinds of solvents should prove the manufacturer/retailer is selling a faulty product that risks permanent damage. We request the client take the matter up with the grout and tile retailer, and our foreman can provide an affidavit regarding all of our responses mentioned above and can attest to this entire response as well.

All Renovations was great to work with during the renovation of my kitchen and bathrooms - they were very responsive to any contact and professional in every way. Adrian was punctual, thorough and handled every piece of the project in a timely and efficient manner.

Review: Our contractor, All Renovations, has refused to determine the cause and fix a leak in our bathtub pump or pluming in our new cabinetry. We have tried on three occasions to work with them and confirm their theories, but they have not been true and each time they come up with a new reason that they cannot fix their mistake.

Before the work was started we ran the pump with the contractor. At that time there were no issues with either the pump or any of the other parts around the unit. We had taken baths with the jets and no leaking prior to installation/bathroom remodel. We discovered the issues when we tried to turn the jet on after the bathroom remodel so something happened during the process of the remodel.

While after the initial attempt to work with All Renovations, they called this a material failure due to old age. They did not assess the age of the pump nor why age would cause they leak. They did not have a response. So after the first attempt to work with the contractor to resolve we had a second plumber come to the house. The third party plumber brought in by us to assess the situation confirmed that material failure would not results in such a lead, but from a crack from pressure. They said that the contractor should have confirmed that it worked before finishing the tiling on the bathtub.

We believe this crack to be a direct result of the installation of the cabinets. The pump, motor, and hose (which is PVC Pipe not a hose) are housed under the cabinet that was installed by All Renovations. There were issues installing the cabinet as seen by some of the cuts made around the area where the pump is located. The installation process was an attempt to place the cabinet unit over top of the pump without moving the pump however the team landed it on the pump damaging the components and piping. This would have occurred while they moving of the cabinet in which they had challenges and could have easily hit it during the cabinet installation. Multiple "fixes" had to be made to correct the initial errors of the installation of the cabinet. During any of these "fixes" the pump was cracked. This mistake made by All Renovations was ignored and not tested to ensure that installation did not impact the pump before they completed their work.

In addition to all the cabinetry work that could have led to the crack, there was a cut pipe in the tub during the remodel. This is a second reason that there could be a leak, but we do not have access to the pipes behind the new tiling. When the pipe was cut, Missy was home and saw the damage so she called Omar of All Renovations immediately. He promptly said at that time that if there was leaking they would make sure to come back an correct. While we cannot see behind the new tile work to confirm where this leak is coming from this is another potential cause of the leak and this is the responsibility of All Renovations to determine and correct.

During the second attempt to work with All Renovations they claimed that work on the tub was not covered by the contract as the bathtub was not part of the renovation. While work on the direct tub was not all the tiling, replacement of the fixtures, and installation of the cabinet which houses the pump were part of the contract. We corrected this with them. Then the response came back from them that anything damaged during demolition was not part of the contract.

We pointed out in our third and final attempt to work with All Renovations that we are not asking for a bathtub replacement but a leak correction and feel that it is their responsibility to determine where the leak is starting from and repair in accordance with their contract. While All Renovations tries to make a new excuse each time we contact them each response holds little credibility. Our original contract excludes damages to materials during the demolition process, yet this did not occur during the demolition process but the installation process. The contract does not have a statement related to damage that is caused during the installation process. Due to this contract language All Renovations has a responsibility to determine the cause of the leak and to fix accordingly.

In summary, despite multiple attempts to work with the contractor to resolve they had failed to comply with their contractual obligations.Desired Settlement: For All Renovations to find the leak and correct so we can take a bath in our bathtub without ruining our new cabinets or causing additional damage due to a water leak in a condo.
