Revdex.com:I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to meAfter talking with the owner of All Seasons outboard and Crank a MrPaul *N*** I would like to withdraw my complaint dated 12/MrN*** has assured me that he will do whatever it takes to make things rightI believe him and that is why I am willing to take him for his word.Sincerely,
*** * ***

I am writing in response to letters received from you on December 7thand 18th requesting assistance to resolve a complaint from one of ourcustomers, Mr *** ***.Mr *** came to our shop on November 20, 2016, requesting serviceon a vintage Johnson hp outboard motorWe doubt that
a 40year old motor in this area would have been kept out of salt waterInour experience, the abundance of saltwater in the area usually results infamiliar wear on equipment.Because the motor is a vintage, Mr *** stated he worked on themotor and could not solve the operational problemsNew parts are nolonger available from Johnson Motors, Inc.We replaced the starter with a used one, adjusted points, andcondenserWe replaced battery cables with used ones on second visitby Mr ***We tried to satisfy his concerns by replacing the roperecoil on the motor starter, too.We think our charges are just and fairThe work was performed inaccordance with industry standards.Sincerely,

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because: All seasons response is not how things happened. I first took my motor to All Seasons around 1 year ago. I had replaced the coils ,points and condensers and although it ran something was wrong. At that time I thought I was talking to the owner. All Seasons charged me $235.00 for a loose ground. I thought it was timing. Even though I thought the price was high it ran like a top. Soon after while running the motor in a tank the motor stalled. When the pull start was used it locked up. There was a broken tab. It was not the same one that was on the motor went to the shop. The first time I met the real owner was when the pull start as returned. That was replaced no questions asked. Then the starter  would not engage all the time. If the starter was tapped with a hammer it would engage. The starter that was on the motor  was painted black with a grease mark on the case, probably rebuilt. The reason I bought the boat was due to the fact it was never run in saltwater. It belonged to a older couple that only used it in freshwater. There was a bracket for an umbrella and the boat came with two anchors When would you need them in saltwater?. The second time the motor was left there I was hoping the starter would be replaced. Instead the owner would not budge off the battery cables. Told him fine but as soon as there were problems with the starter I was bringing it back. When leaving I was willing to pay with a credit card. He would not accept it. I told him I would be by the next day with cash. He has not been paid and I have not heard a word. I went to start the motor in a garbage can and the first thing I noticed was the water turned milky, that happens when water and oil mix. The first thing that happened when I tried to start the motor was  within seconds the top sparkplug came shooting out of the cylinder head. The top sparkplug threads were stripped It took a week to find a cylinder head. After that was installed when the motor finally started it spent a good 30secs spewing out nothing but blue smoke it was surprising it even ran. Then I purchased a carburetor and rebuild kit. Both the cylinder head as well as the carb kit were purchased from the same company where All Seasons get their parts. A rebuilt starter is not available but the rebuild kit is. These parts can all be found contrary to what All Seasons says. The saddest part of all this is if All Seasons had not used the motor for parts and just got it running you would have never heard from me. There is oil running out of the extension and the foot. This has never happened before. Labor rates to work on these motors is $125.00hr and I have well over 10 hours into it, looking for parts, r&r the cylinder head and rebuilding the carb.  If All Seasons would be willing to pay to have the timing set and pay to have the extension seals replaced I would be willing to eat all the time spent for looking for . parts and my labor. You could not make this up and if I would have read Yelp I would have probably not taken it there in the first place.Sincerely,[redacted]
