All-Set Lawn Care Service Reviews (1)

Review: Early in June, I was looking for a lawn care service to cut my lawn after my lawn mower had broken down. I searched the phone book and found All Set Lawn Service. I checked with the Revdex.com and found they had an A+ rating so I called them. I have approx. 3 acres of lawn that I needed cut and swept . It had grown to to be between 12 to 18 inches. Before All Set arrived to give me an estimate, 2 of my friends showed up who cut grass for rental properties and cut the front and sides of my property. This left about 1 to 1 1/2 that still needed cutting. The work they (my 2 friends) did cutting took them about 8 hours. They offered to come back the following week and finish it up but I wanted it done sooner so I could just start cutting it myself again. When [redacted] showed up for an estimate he walked out to the area which still needed cutting and told me they could finish it up for " about 200.00 ". Which I agreed to because it sounded fairly reasonable for the amount that was left to cut. I trusted them to come and have it done in maybe one day at the most. They were to cut the area, sweep up and cut again. They started on the 10th of June but never finished. We had to call back 4 different times to try to get them over to finish the job. I stop home twice a day from work to let my 4 dogs out and they were never there when I stopped home. My daughter spoke to them on the rare occasion that they did show up and said they were usually standing out by their truck. When I would arrive home from work the yard looked no different, so I or my daughter would have to call again. [redacted] claims that they were there for 44 hrs. They were not. The grass could have been cut on hands and knees 3 different times for that amount of time. My lawn is still not finished ! On June 30th when I arrived home from work the 2 workers were in my driveway standing out by their truck. They told me I should call [redacted] and insist that he get this job done immediately. Apparently they felt that they were getting stuck with all the larger jobs and had wanted a full crew on their assignments. Mentioning he does this all the time. Sounded like they had a grudge with their employer. Also mentioning a job they had for 7 acres to cut. I told them I wanted it done weeks ago but was being charged a flat rate. I thought maybe the hold up was the rain and that the grass was too wet. They said nothing but I think you better call him and they left. Also on this date of June 30th, which was the most expensive with a charge of $465.00 there was absolutely no visible work done in my yard and thats when I started taking pictures. I didn't have to call him though, he called me that evening almost yelling and asked me what I said to his employees that made them so frustrated. He was extremely rude and nasty on the phone and told me I owed him $ 1200.00 for the work they did. I told him my quote was for $200.00 and I've had to call 4 times to try to get them over to finish the job they were hired to do and they still hadn't finished. He claimed the grass was 3 ft. tall and it was taking them longer. This is not true, this is a lawn not a field and he came out himself to give me an estimate and look at it. He also threatened to take me to court for the money, which is fine because I have taken plenty of pictures and can get statements from my 2 friends that cut most of it to begin with, and others that are familiar with what has been going on with this company. At NO TIME EVER did he mention that he changed the agreement because I would not have agreed to anything but the initial agreement of $200.00. He told me he was frustrated and would call me the next day to try to work something out. But he never did and instead sent me a bill for $1319.01. Or he would settle for $900.00 and would send his crew out to finish the job. The job that should have been completed on June 10th. Neither is acceptable to me. This was a simple grass cutting job of a lawn that was 12 to 18 inches tall that should have been completed in 1 day. And he also added on an extra $119.01 to the bill. For what? I do not want this company back on my property for any reason. They were hired to do a simple job and they failed miserably, I am stuck with a lawn that is still not finished that is a complete disaster and not even worth the $200.00 he originally quoted me. I would not recommend this company to anyone.. And will now be forced to hire someone that will actually get the job done like it should have been done on June 10th.Desired Settlement: Honor his original initial agreement of 200.00.

Ms . [redacted] contacted All SET Lawn Care in June of this year and spoke with [redacted]. She requested an estimate to cut her lawn which was approximately 3 acres and 2-3 foot tall. He gave her two estimates: One was to cut it on a weekly basis at $110 per cut, the other estimate was for cutting her property per hour at a rate of $30 per hour per man. [redacted] also mentioned to Ms [redacted] that he had recently completed a job where the property was 3/4 of an acre for $200, but the cost did not include sweeping up the grass. Ms [redacted] told him to go ahead and do it and she agreed on a first time cut at the rate of $30 per hour per man. On the day the crew started cutting, they cut about 3/4 of the lawn, but were unable to finish because the ground was too wet in 1/4 of the property. The area that was too wet had 3 foot reeds and cattails growing in it. She was told by the crew leader, Robert, that that part of the property would most likely not dry. Ms [redacted] then stated, to Robert, that she wanted the crew to come back the next week to cut the lawn again because the grass clippings were heavy and to try and cut the wet area. The crew returned the following week and were told by Ms. [redacted]s adult daughter that her mom wanted the entire property cut again including the ditches. At that time the crew again tried to cut the wet area and could not because it was too wet. The crew leader spoke again to Ms. [redacted]s daughter. to make her aware of this. The daughter told them [redacted] wanted them to come back the following week to try again and to also bring a sweeper to clean up the already cut grass. At this time, the daughter was also notified that this was being charged by the hour and she acknowledged that this was ok. The following week, All SET sent out a crew of three to get the wet area cut, but again it was too wet. The crew started the sweep up of the grass and to cut the entire property again per the daughter. On June 30th the crew was sent out to make a final push at finishing this job. They were there for the entire day and were not finished by the end of the day. Ms. [redacted] met them at their truck as they were packing up. At that time Ms [redacted] was told that they could come back but they would still be charged by the hour. When the crew got back to the home base of All SET, the crew advised [redacted] that she was using abusive language and that they were not working. That evening Ms [redacted] was contacted by [redacted], he inquired whether there was a problem with the crew and whether she was being verbally abusive. At this time, Ms. [redacted] said "there is no problem with the crew and they were working their as off". She also stated she was not abusive to the crew. Ms [redacted] also inquired about the man hours spent on the job and was told 44 hours and the total was $1320. She then stated she would not pay more than $200. After a lengthy conversation, she offered $500 to complete the job, and was counter offered $900 by [redacted] to complete the job, just covering the wages. After another lengthy conversation Ms. [redacted] was getting loud on the phone and [redacted] decided to end the conversation. Addressing Ms [redacted]s letter to the Revdex.com: Ms [redacted] states that she had two friends cut the front and sides of the property in 8 hours. This alone would be a charge of $480 per the agreement Ms [redacted] verbally agreed to, $30 per hour per man. They cut around the house and sides of house which is .7 acres according to GPS Satellite. This leaves 2.3 acres of 2-3 foot grass and weeds, the ditches, and the wet area. Ms [redacted] states All SET was not there 44 hours. The hours can be proven with the GPS tracking that is installed on all vehicles.Ms [redacted] states that this "was a simple job" This was not a simple job, it was 3 acres of 2-3 foot high grass and a part of it is wetland. Each time the crew was there they recut the entire property per Ms [redacted] or her daughters approval. It is completely unreasonable to expect to pay $200. We've been in business for over 10 years and would never quote this much work at $200. We are looking for the full amount of $1319.01 for work done. At this point the $900 offer has been rescinded. Ms [redacted] has 15 days to pay the invoice or be subject to collection action. [redacted] & [redacted]
