All Star Painting, Inc. Reviews (2)

Review: I contacted All Star Painting through the website. It offered free estimates and I filled out the contact form. I was contacted and he came over to our home and later emailed a bid estimate. I showed him our insurance print out of hail damages and what the insurance would pay for.

The estimate contained several errors, one which was to paint our window frames. We have vinyl window which would not require painting. He called multiple times and and on the third call, my husband told him that we were considering painting our home ourselves as the the cost was prohibitive to us. (insurance was to pay for the painting of the back half of house only). He then said that he would send us a bill for $50 for doing the estimate. He said that I agreed to that on the initial phone call since he was estimating for a hail damage claim for insurance. I do not recollect agreeing to that whatsoever. His web site clearly stated free estimates, the bid estimate made no mention that if we did not accept the bid we would be required to pay $50. Only after learning that we would not use his services did he state the $50 charge to us. I contacted my insurance company regarding this and they suggested I contact you.Desired Settlement: I would like ALL STAR Painting to remove the $50 charge to us. As well as making changes to his website that puts a disclaimer on his "free" estimates. Maybe, even have customers sign that they acknowledge the charges if you do not accept his bid estimates.

His estimates are not "free estimates" if he later charges you for them.

Response:

The customer called me regarding that they had hail damage on their home do to a hail. I told them that we charge 50.00 for hail damage estimates if they just wanted it for insurance, we only go over the insurance claim and paint the home for the price the insurance has left them. The agreed to work with me and the insurance company and I try and get the hole house done because we could not match it. Since the owner decided not to use our service I billed them for what they agreed when I spoke to them on the phone. The are not honest people and they are making untrue statements regarding this transaction. I don't want to do any business with people like this they can disregard the bill. Thanks for your time

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!! [redacted] and his two hired hands were extremely unprofessional, with exposed vulgar tatoos (we have young children) and foul language. [redacted] was supposed to paint our whole exterior home, sand and stain rails. [redacted] did not tape off and chose to hand paint. We ended up with paint everywhere, on windows, decks, doors, flower pots, even our dog! Many areas he painted exposed our previous color - we went with a darker color however [redacted] and his help haphazardly painted which led to very poor coverage. [redacted] also failed to sand before staining rail. Although we continued to speak to [redacted] during the 2 day rushed job he just became more and more frustrated. The final straw was that [redacted] stated he would pick the paint from Sherwin Williams that would cover in one coat. [redacted] picked RESILENCE which requires 2 coats as opposed to DURATION which only requires 1!!!!! Duration is only approx. $7 more per gallon. When we became aware of this we actually called Sherwin Williams on speaker in front of [redacted] who confirmed that DURATION was the paint that only requires 1 coat. We now have RESILENCE on our home with no warranty and have to hire another painter to do the second coat. Although [redacted] said he will do a second coat for more $$$ we don't want him anywhere near our house. After confronting him of all this he became frustrated and threatened to just walk off before the final walk around. We managed to get him settled down enough to do the walk around (which we were extremely unhappy with) to where he then proceeded to stand on an egress window cover (which are not meant to hold a grown mans weight) and he broke it. Didn't offer to pay for the cost, didn't offer to properly clean up paint that was left on cement, deck etc. Needless to say the job didn't end on good terms, we actually received an invoice from [redacted] in which he was asking for MORE money than the original contract!!!???? We had our insurance inspector come out who stated the job was "incomplete" and even our insurance company wouldn't pay the full amount of original contract. [redacted] has since said he will take us to court. WE HAD A TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE, IT WAS DEVASTATING TO US!! In all our years of home improvement we have never experienced a contractor like this.
