Review: I took my car there to be service I get a phone call one day the car is ready when I called back to notify them that I was unavailable to pick up the car due to an emergency. The lady was very polite and told me no problem get there when I come back I know I have a certain amount to pay due to my insurance deductible. But when I called to find out how much everything would be to get the car out she quoted me a price that was totally outrageous. She notified me that there would be A storage fee charge for 11 days which is totally false. I have a message received from someone else at the body shop three days ago stating that the car was ready for four days so that only means the car has been ready for seven days. Now they're charging me for extra days storage when the car was not in there that longDesired Settlement: I would like for them to take off The charge for the storage fees altogether or at least half the exact storage fee

Review: On December **2013 I was involved in a collision where I met the owner of all star body and fender. He introduced himself as [redacted] and gave me his business card. As I waited for the police, [redacted]and his brother started telling me about going to their shop and why I would benefit. Also he put fear in me by saying that the tow truck was taking my car to a place where it would be vandalized. During [redacted]’s speech, he told me that if I went to him he would paint the entire car because of all the scratches on it. I was still not convinced and he said that the insurance company will send me a check for $500 for my deductible and that if he fixed my car he will only take $250 and I can have the rest for my troubles. On December **, 2013 Geico sent the vehicle adjuster, [redacted] to the shop to assess the damage. During the time the adjuster was there, [redacted] had called my phone to tell me that the adjuster was there and to give him the verbal ok to sign off the check to him. I could not do that even if I wanted I got stuck on the subway and had no signal. Later that day [redacted] called me and explained all the damage to the car and how long it would take to fix and the cost, $3,701.99. He said that the damage was only cosmetic and nothing serious, so it would be 13 days. This meant to me that the job would be done on the December [redacted]. Since the adjuster went to see the car I called the shop once or twice a week to find out the status of the repairs. The secretary at the shop [redacted] seem nice at the time and would tell me it be ready next week or in a couple of days; she would not give me anymore details. I did not realize how much time had gone by with work and physical therapy. On January **, 2014, Enterprise called me to let me know that Geico stopped payments for the rental car as of December **, 2013. I called the shop and explain the situation and [redacted] told me that she would talk to her boss about working on the car because nothing had been done yet. I called again later that day and [redacted] said that she could have it ready for me by Tuesday, January **, 2014. I called the shop again on Tuesday January **, 2014 and [redacted] told me it would ready the next day which was Wednesday January **, 2014. I called on Wednesday, January **and got the same response (the care would be ready on the **). This went on until Friday January [redacted], 2014. On Monday January **, 2014 at approximately 10:00am, when I showed up to the shop to find out what was really happening with my car. I saw my car sitting on a jack missing the wheel. The [redacted] (who is also the mechanic) came to me and was now concerned and began telling me he needed to finish working on the car. The car was still missing the hubcap, which the [redacted] claimed is difficult to get. The [redacted] showed me pictures of hubcaps on his phone that he claimed to order, but it looks like they were from eBay. I was also told by the [redacted] if I waited a while the car would be ready. I went to see [redacted] to pay for the car and she told me that it was $500 for the deductible. I explained to her the conversation I had with [redacted]; I said that it was supposed to be $250.

I asked [redacted] to call [redacted], because I wanted to speak with him. She pretended to text him and refused to call him. [redacted] claimed she only texts him and if he called she would pass it on to me. She continued to insist that I pay for the car and I said once the money issue is clear with [redacted] I would pay. It was about 1:00pm when I heard the alarm of my car go off, I went down stairs to see it and noticed that the hood was not aligned properly; it was shifted to the right leaving a gap on the left side. The right side of the front bumper was hanging out a bit while the left side was pushed in; also the head lights had spaces around them. I told the [redacted] that I cannot pay for a car in this condition. Once they had fixed the problem they should call me to get the car. I went upstairs to let [redacted] know about this and I said to her that when I pay for my car I wanted my invoice, which is listed on the DMV site as a consumer’s right and is defined as:

Invoice

When repairs are completed, the shop must give you a detailed invoice listing each repair done, each part replaced, the cost for each, and the cost of labor. The invoice must show which replacement parts, if any, are used, or not of original quality. It must show the odometer reading at the time you left the vehicle for repair and when the invoice was prepared. If the shop promised a delivery date, that must be listed on the repair order. If you received a written estimate, compare it with the invoice and try to resolve any questions before you pay for the repairs.

[redacted] said that they never gave one of those out before which means they are breaking the law, because they are suppose to give it to every customer. [redacted] still had not called the shop and I told [redacted] to have him call me to speak about the $250 for the car. I left home about 2:30pm from the shop. On Tuesday January **, 2014 they called me about 3 times and left no message, I return the call by 5:02pm when they told me the car was ready to pick up. I said that I was going to get it tomorrow since they were closed already. They next day Wednesday, January **, I showed up and the [redacted] sent me straight to the office to pay. I told [redacted] that I wanted to see the car before I pay for it. I came back down stairs and waited outside for them to open the gate so I could see my car. The [redacted]s stood by the door staring at me for a while then call me over to tell me that they didn’t get the proper hubcap for the car. He claimed that he was sent the wrong hubcap and showed me one they received. It was a pack of 4 but only had 3, which means he put the fourth on my car and it is not the right part. He said if I waited that they will get the right one later that day, I said that I will not wait to call me when it’s done. I went upstairs to [redacted] to tell her this and to inquire about the invoice I had requested. She said that they were working on it and I should pay her for the car. I said no, I will not pay because the job is not complete and I will get stuck with a loss. I told her to call me when they have both the car and the invoice ready. On January **, 2014 they called me at 5:09pm to tell me that the car was ready. I had text and email [redacted] what the invoice should contain so that I get something credible. On January **, 2014 [redacted] called me at 8:39am to tell me to pick up my car because it’s ready. When I asked her about the invoice she said she has to talk to her boss about it. At 9:24am the [redacted] called me and said that if I don’t pick up the car that they will begin charging me for storage since they need the space for other cars. I told him that I needed the invoice and all proper paper work to pick up the car. He told me to hold and never came back. At 9:29am I got a call from ###-###-####, a man claiming to be the owner of all star body and fender started talking to me with a nasty attitude. He said to stop harassing his secretary and that I better go pick up the car because as of yesterday I’m being charged $75 day for storage. I said that I needed my invoice and that I didn’t want the car without it because I’m supposed to get it - It is my right. The guy started yelling trying to put fear into me and said “you are not getting an invoice” he then hung up. At 11:50am I was walking by the shop when the supervisor started menacing me saying things, pointing at me and picking up his phone like he was calling for back up. I called 911 at 11:57am for assistance in retrieving my vehicle and appropriate paper work - invoice receipt, warranty, etc. I saw they were not coming and called again at 12:36pm since now the [redacted] was pointing my way and saying things. I had to walk to the next street because I felt unsafe. When the police came I explained everything that had led to that point. They said that they could not do anything because the shop has not committed a crime but they do get a lot of 911 calls because of their business practices. The [redacted] said that I have to pay first then I get the car and the invoice although he could not present it to the cop since they didn’t prepare one. He said to the cop that I would have to pay storage fee if I don’t take my car today. I walked upstairs after the cops left to speak to [redacted] I said to her all I want is proof of what was done to my car and the invoice would show that. I said that I never wanted this to be complicated and once the invoice was ready to call me so that I come get my car. The [redacted] came up stair to tell me that I was loitering. I had asked, how that is? He said, you are actually trespassing, you are not supposed to be here. I said ok, have a nice day and call me when the invoice is ready so I can pick up my car.Desired Settlement: I would like to pay the $250 originally discussed and for the shop to pay for everyday after the 13th day of repair for the rental, which is 12 days at $401.90. I would also like the shop to pay for my monthly car payment of $468.84 for the time they are holding my car since it was suppose to be done in 13 days and they are delaying on their own behalf. Also, I would also like them to be summoned for their poor business practices. I understand I am not the only person scammed by this shop.
