All State Home Remodeling & General Construction

Review: Hired "All State Home Remodeling" ([redacted]) for the renovation of my apartment. Signed a contract for the work. I was told the scope of the work will be completed in 2 months. Four months later, they decided to stop work without any notice. They are dishonest. I had given an initial deposit for $10,000 to initiate work. I was quoted $5,800 for the electrical expenses. When I tried to give them a check I was told that I would have to "pay in cash or they will charge me tax". After less than 20% of the work was completed, they demanded that I give them the second payment of $12,000 or they threatened to stop working in the apartment and "place a lien on my apartment". What work was completed was not satisfactory. They did not even follow the amendment of the building for the renovation which was part of the contract. Without notice, they decided to stop working in the apartment. After texting/emailing I finally was notified that they are breaking the contract and not completing the work. They left the apartment as is and did not discard of any waste/garbage.

I have met with multiple contractors to evaluate the remaining work for the renovation. They all have told me that less than 50% of the work has been completed and some of the work that was completed needs to be redone. These people led me to believe that they were experienced contractors however they are just dishonest people who bullied me into giving them money without completing any work satisfactorily.

The contractor that I have now has taken photos of everything as well:

- The bamboo floor was not laid down properly and is lifted at all of the corners

- the bathroom floor when laid down the toilet flange wasn't taken into consideration and now has to be redone

- the check valves were not replaced, no door was put (as per the building guidelines). [redacted] was spoken to about this multiple times by the [redacted]. Once even in front of me. The [redacted] himself has told me that they have been the most difficult people to work with.

- the circuit breaker was not done properly as well

- all of the walls needs to be repainted

- bathroom needs to be completed

- kitchen needs to be completed

And the list goes on. I have photos/documentation of their work.Desired Settlement: Refund of the money paid
