Won't do work promised but demands full payment
Do not do business with this company! Mr. S* will promise anything but then do a hack job. When you object, he will lose his temper and be personally abusive.
On 11-17-22, Mr. S* of All States Tree Care to my door saying he needed to keep his crew busy. He contracted to remove a dead oak approx. 100ft high, with other minor work thrown in for “free”.
Due to proximity to the house and septic system (which I pointed out in detail), he agreed that the oak would be taken down in sections until 20ft or so remained, and dropped in a clearing. This would be a lot of extra work, so I agreed to an extra $2500 (based on what I had paid to have a similar tree dropped intact last year).
He did not meet his contract. There was no attempt to section and lower the trunk. The entire 100ft trunk was dropped directly across the septic system! At that time, he apologized saying, “My fault, I didn’t supervise my crew, and they aren’t very good”, and even signed a statement admitting what happened.
While pushing the sale, Mr. S* repeatedly said he would not need any money until the job was completely done. Yet that first evening, with tons of wood still to cut up and haul away, he wrote on the contract a partial payment and tried to get me to sign it. He was pushy, saying they’d leave their truck overnight, I guess like security. I refused, he angrily crossed it out and didn’t leave the truck after all.
The second day, I noticed his crew taking more short cuts and spoke with Mr. S* about them. The worse was driving his truck across my neighbor’s yard without permission, when he had contracted to move the wood by cart to my driveway. He began swearing and insulting me so much other members of his crew came over to intercede.
Finally, Mr. S* presented his bill in full, and I protested that he had not done the work promised. He said, “Quite being picky - the tree’s gone so you got what you wanted,” then again became personally insulting. Finally, my wife wrote a check to get him to leave.

All States Tree Care trimmed our front yard trees, and removed nine (9) 70-ft pine trees along our one property line. The trimmed work was on one day, then on the next day the crew removed the pines, including the stumps. Excellent work completed with special care to protect our house and shrubs. I highly recommend working with Thomas to get a quick and economical quote.

Met Thomas as he came to our door to talk to us about our birch trees. We had been looking for a tree specialist to help trim our Junipers and to take down a medium pine tree that was leaning on our fence. We also did need our River Birch trees trimmed. We found Thomas to be very knowledgeable and easy to deal with. He always answered our questions whether by text or phone call. We were so satisfied with the work they did on the trees that we also had them take down an area of weed overgrowth and spray them behind our property. We felt their prices were more than fair as I had done some research previously. They even did a few things for free as long as they were there. We had a few of our neighbors use them and I think they were satisfied with their work too. I would use them again with no problem and would recommended Thomas and his company to anyone who asked for a tree service referral.

All States came to our door to discuss some of the trees in our yard. We had a good conversation, not forced or pressured at all. We decided on some work and negotiated a price. They did most of the work that day and came back over the next couple of days to finish cleaning up and to grind out a stump. Thomas was the crew leader and he was very pleasant to work with. I was a little worried about the lack of communication but I just had to trust that they would complete the work and they did. We were very satisfied with their work and will have them back again.

All State did a great job for us! They cleared 4 dead ash trees and a tremendous amount of overgrown honeysuckle in our back yard tree line. The job was finished quickly and they also left us some firewood which was an additional request. They cleaned up all debris and checked with us several times to be sure we were pleased with their work. I have already recommended them to friends.

All States Tree Care offered to trim some of our trees. It was dark when they stopped and asked for payment. Work was incomplete.
The day after All States "finished" their trimming and cleanup, it was obvious that they had NOT finished cleaning up. It was also obvious that more trimming was needed.

I contacted All States by phone advising them that cleanup was not complete. Initially I was told that they would be back "tomorrow."

Following that call, I sent a text including a picture of the major debris at the front of our home. I also pointed out that there were still some low hanging limbs on one of the trees. Both were quite apparent in broad daylight. Not so apparent when *** asked to payment.

Attached are screen shots of my text communications with All States and a copy of the letter I sent to them. I think my last short message - which I intend to send in the morning covers it.

Desired Outcome

Send me a check for $150. That should cover the cost of having someone else finish the work you were paid to do plus the inconvenience you have caused.

Paid for tree removal service. Company did not finish job.
I contacted All State's Tree Care concerning the removal of a fallen tree, tree limb piles and stump from my property. About a week later, they came out and gave me a verbal estimate of $1300.00 to remove the tree, the piles and the stump. I agreed to this and hired them.

On 5 May, 2019 they arrived and said that the stump removal would be approximately $250.00 extra. I declined the stump removal but noted this dishonesty in the estimate vs. actual work.

They worked for 2 days (5-6 May, 2019) and removed approx. 3/4 of the tree and debris. They said they would return the next day (7 May, 2019) to finish. They did not return.

I paid them $800.00 on 5 May and $500.00 on 6 May. This was a mistake, but they did work hard and seemed trustworthy at the time.

I have called and left several messages since 7 May, 2019 and they have not returned my calls.

Desired Outcome

Return to finish the job or refund me 25% of the 1300.00 I paid. ($325.00)

In Nov. we had an ice storm that cause a great deal of tree limbs to fall all over our yard. DP&L never picked them up, so I called this tree co. (they had been in the area a wk or 2 early going door to door to see if anyone wanted their limbs cut & removed). *** at Allstate returned my call and was going to remove limbs for $75. He got to my house before I did & had just come from back yard when I pulled up. He offered to cut down tree for $700 & he contacted *** & gave me his #, because *** was going to come and take the wood. *** does NOT work for All State!) I believe he is just a friend. So, technically All State did what they & I agreed to do. While the tree was being cut down a large limb fell on the house & tore some of the wires from the house (no powerlines). *** was able to put all of that back just like it was.

*** (AKA-Mom) went to talk to them about grinding up the stump and told them they would do that at no extra charge and she took them to another old tree stump and told them to grind it up as well, for no extra charge. After mom went back into the house *** said they can't do that for free. Of course, I knew that! So *** & I had an agreement that he would not tell mom I paid $1,000 for the tree cut down & the 2 stumps ground up.

*** also said he did not want me to mention to his dad (owner) about what we verbally agreed they would do & what I would pay. If *** had just came and got the wood like he said he would, none of these Revdex.com forms would have been necessary. I have called *** many times and now must assume he is not going to take this wood. The attached hand written invose was given to me after all the work was complete, because I wanted *** phone number.

Desired Outcome

Replace bushes they smashed by placing the large pieces of the tree trunk on.

All States Tree Care Response • Feb 04, 2019

The customer *** contacted me by phone over 30 times and her issue was that the wood was not picked up and she wanted me to come and take care of the wood and I explained to her that we put a word out on Facebook and gave her address and that there is a cord of wood for free just have to pick up and I explained again to her that if we came to pick al the wood up that it would cost her for our labor and there is a dump fee at the dump that charges up anything over 20 inch. In diameter is $38 a ton so I told *** we couldn't do it for free as she kept demanding and telling me she gonna call me Revdex.com and I said to her that is a form of Bullying and I responded back and said I'm sorry but I cannot do that much free work that I told her have a nice day mama and again she continued to call and threaten me to call the Revdex.com so I'm making a stand for now on and gonna do more up dates on my response in the future because there always two sides to every story thanks

DID NOT SHOW UP TO FINISH! I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone! They had stopped at my house a couple times before asking about my trees (they did work at my neighbors). They stopped by my house at 7:30pm, I agreed to the service, they did about 2 hours worth of work which was half of it, they asked for half the amount, which I thought was reasonable. They left their trailer here claiming they would be back the next day, then NEVER SHOWED back up!! It took my 2 days just to get ahold of the owner and all he had to say was excuses and never cared to hear what had happened. Then it took him another 2 days just to come get the darn thing!! The workers left a mess, ripped a cable out of my house, left all their junk here, are dishonest and they write faulty contracts! NEVER AGAIN!

Have Contract for Cut and Remove all debris
Came in January to remove a large Silver Maple in back yard. Paid them to cut and remove the tree .. They cut the tree and removed half of the tree and left the rest of tree in front yard.. Ive called many times in past month they say they will be out and they don't show.. all I want is for them to finish the job I paid for

Desired Outcome

I want them to finish the job or refund me my money

The owner knocked on doors during the winter in the neighborhood looking for work. He gave us a good quote, did the work he bid, and cleaned up afterwards. He was looking to be paid before the job was completed but we withheld a partial payment ensuring they would return the next day to complete the job. Very satisfied.

They did not complete the work as specified on the contract.
They (John and one other person) were going door to door, trying to drum up business. I hired them to fell, cut up and stack a very large tree in my woods. They wrote up a contract, I signed it. They dropped the tree and then it got dark. I paid them (my mistake thinking they were trustworthy) and they left their trailer at my house over night. Next day they came back and cut a few pieces of the tree up, but not much. They said they needed to get a bigger saw. They haven't returned since and I still have this huge tree laying on the ground, uncut and unstacked. When I called, they kept telling me they were on their way, but then never showed up. Now they won't return my calls or texts. They're long gone.

Desired Outcome

I want them to complete what were contracted to do. I want them to come back and finish cutting all the wood, then stack everything as they agreed to do.

Customer Response • Feb 05, 2018

The owner contacted me and returned to my property to finish the job as detailed in the original contract. I'm satisfied, so the complaint can classified as resolved.
