We believe this matter has been satisfactorily resolved In this particular situation, the parties to a car accident provided different versions of what happened, and a witness’s statements concerning the accident were not determinative We have an obligation to our insured to defend him, particularly given the factual dispute concerning the cause of the collision, and our insured’s belief that he was not at fault The complainant had his insurance with another carrier, and normally, we work directly with the other carrier to resolve these matters However, in this instance, because the complainant did not have collision coverage, he pursued this matter personally Whenever there is a dispute, there are delays in obtaining information and in formulating a resolution This case was no different Additionally, in disputed matters the parties are much more aware that their statements may be used against them, and this slows an investigation and communications As indicated at the outset, we believe we were able to craft a satisfactory resolution of this matter We appreciate the opportunity to respond
