Since something undeniably happened to Mr***' vehicle after the requested repair had been completed I'm willing to refund Mr [redacted] $In returning this amount to Mr [redacted] I am not admitting any responsibility for the repairs he subsequently had done to his vehicleI only want to show that I understand his frustrationIt needs to be understood that none of the items Mr [redacted] had repaired were found to be faulty either here at All Tune & Lube when we were attempting to find the fault or at the second performance centered Honda shop where the car was sentHad there been any contact with me within a reasonable amount of time after Mr [redacted] recovered his vehicle and before he spent so much on these repairs I'm certain a lot of expense and trouble could have been avoidedWaiting seven months to make a demand that I pay the replacement cost of a vehicle Mr [redacted] is driving is unreasonable

Mr** brought his Honda Civic in for repair to his turbo charger on 11-20- The repair was complete 11-26-The vehicle stalled and would not re-start during the test drive that same dayFailure was traced to a loss of communication buss signal to the engine control module (ECM)
Considerable effort was made at this shop to locate the cause of the commbuss failure
This vehicle had been modified in a number of waysThe modifications done to the induction system on this car required the installation of an aftermarket piggyback type ECMDiagnostics were complicated by the fact that there were pre-existing issues with the aftermarket ECM that would cause an intermittent loss of communication with the DLC (Data Link Connector) and instrument clusterWe came to believe that the commbuss failure was linked to a failure in the aftermarket ECMOur shop does not have enough experience with Asian “Tuner” performance mods so at our expense we had the car taken to a shop that specializes in these vehicles, Hondas in particularThey were also unable to locate the source of the malfunctionAt this point Mr** paid for the turbo charger repair and took control of the vehicle
The first week of August, Mr** came in the All Tune and asked me to reimburse him $for repairs and I felt I was being scammedThe demand seemed and still seems excessive because $is very close to the value of the car, the repairs Mr** described to me should not have cost as much as he stated and it had been 7-months since I last spoke to him, during that time I have no way of knowing what was happening with the carWhen MrHo retrieved his car last December it was not a confrontational or adversarial situationI sincerely wanted to take care of the problem if it was our fault or find out what had caused the problem if it wasn’t so we’d have the information for future reference

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
The PCM, engine electrical wiring harness, fuse box, gauge cluster, and wiring shield was replaced. This is an equivalent to replacing a majority of the wiring in a car. After many weeks of fustration with [redacted] trying to figure out the cause. He stated that he was unable to determine the cause of the car not being able to start. After paying the invoice to get my car released, I had my car towed by [redacted] to Honda dealership. I have invoices that shows the mechanics professional opinion. Please note this was RIGHT AFTER [redacted] shop, the car was towed DIRECTLY from [redacted] to Honda. Due to the high costs, the car was not initially repaired as I did not have 3-7k to repair the car. The car's engine wire harness was placed near the exhaust manifold which caused the equivalent of an electrical fire surge destroying the fuse box and guage cluster in the process.  Also, honda does not do odometer reprogramming and the guage cluster had to be mailed to [redacted]. Also after honda had replaced the engine wire harness, fuse box, guage cluster etc the car's STOCK computer had to be repgraommed to the turbo's setting. Please note that I DROVE a working car into his shop to replace a turbo cartridge and weld an intercooler. Also [redacted] explanation regarding the car computer is INCORRECT,  I did NOT pay [redacted] to do ELECTRICAL work, only a mechanical part (turbo cartrridge) was refurbished (not replaced) and an intercooler welded on. [redacted] claim that somehow refurbishing a part makes it incompatible with the STOCK car computer is FALSE.  I had provided [redacted] with the BURNED engine wire harness and stacks of invoices totaling well over 7k of damages. The conversation in august ended with  a demand that my NOV 28th purchase be refunded as I think it immorally wrong to pay for a COMPLETELY DESTROYED CAR when I have evidence that I drove the car in to his shop Fully functional.  Having a a jammed turbo cartridge simply reduces performance, but by no means would it cause electrical fire/failure throughout the car.

Since something undeniably happened to Mr. [redacted]' vehicle after the requested repair had been completed I'm willing to refund Mr. ** $500. In returning this amount to Mr. ** I am not admitting any responsibility for the repairs he subsequently had done to his vehicle. I only want to show that I understand his frustration. It needs to be understood that none of the items Mr. ** had repaired were found to be faulty either here at All Tune & Lube when we were attempting to find the fault or at the second performance centered Honda shop where the car was sent. Highs: Works quickly on small jobs. Nice guys.

Lows: High parts markups, $105 per hour labor cost, puts big jobs on the back burner, has less-than-ideal memory about previous conversations. Does not understand the intricacies of modified vehicles.

Dave is a good guy. He does good work on people's cars. He charges on the high end for work, and his parts markup is also high, but he gets good ratings here because for most people, that's not an issue. Most people just have typical cars that have typical maintenance issues, and he gets them back on the road quickly.

My car did not have a typical maintenance issue. My car had an issue with an aftermarket clutch kit and other aftermarket parts (all extremely high quality) that were working together fine until they weren't. My clutch wouldn't disengage. I took my car to this shop because I have worked with Eddie before. I figured his legacy of honesty and prompt service would carry through even more strongly working with Dave, the owner.

My car was in Dave's shop from September 14th to September 24th. At no point was Dave able to guess as to what happened to cause the issue. He made a suggestion as to a solution, and I had him try it. $1,100 later, the issue was still not fixed. Dave made another suggestion, even saying "If this were my car, this is what I would do". Another $750 later, the issue was still not fixed.

He then suggested that if I had just replaced the flywheel, clutch plate and pressure plate, I could have avoided all of this expenditure. What he neglected to consider is that those new parts would cost almost $1,000 and we still would have incurred the original $1,100 in other costs. Also, Dave had told me those parts looked fine and did not need to be replaced. I felt insulted.

I contacted the company that made the parts. They agreed to have me send the parts in for inspection, and they would honor their warranty and replace the parts if necessary.

So at 1:30 pm on a Friday I asked Dave to remove the transmission again so I could send the parts to the manufacturer. He said he would have to wait until Monday to even start working on it, despite the fact that his shop is open all day Saturday and until 6:00 pm on Friday. He said he always has a lot of walk-in business and that he needed to get those people back to work on Monday. I thought, given the fact that my car had already been at his shop for 9 days, and considering my expenditures, that my car might be given priority over a walk-in.

In the meantime, I had him replace my fuel level sender. the sender is part of a two-piece unit, with an outside component and a fuel pump inside component. The fuel pump on my car is upgraded because the car has been modified and it requires more fuel. I explained this to Dave, who then proceeded to replace the whole inside-and-outside unit with OEM parts - after telling me he would keep the upgraded pump. While the parts he used are high quality, the fact that he did not use the upgraded pump that was in the car meant that I could not safely drive the car without destroying the engine.

I told Dave that this was unsatisfactory, and that he would have to re-do the job and put the high capacity fuel pump back into the car. He then proceeded to argue with me about whether or not my car actually needed the high capacity pump.

I called him Saturday morning to check on the status of the work. He said that he had not begun re-installing my fuel pump and had also not started on removing the clutch parts. I decided I would need to move my car to a different shop.

When I arrived to move my car, Dave wanted full payment for everything that had been done. I was able to get him to remove $450 of the charges, but only after a lot of effort on my part.

TL; DR: If you have something easy to do, All Tune can do it. If it's not a simple repair, just take it to a specialist.

Mr. ** brought his 2006 Honda Civic in for repair to his turbo charger on 11-20-13.  The repair was complete 11-26-13. The vehicle stalled and would not re-start during the test drive that same day. Failure was traced to a loss of communication buss signal to the engine control module (ECM)....

Considerable effort was made at this shop to locate the cause of the comm. buss failure.

This vehicle had been modified in a number of ways. The modifications done to the induction system on this car required the installation of an aftermarket piggyback type ECM. Diagnostics were complicated by the fact that there were pre-existing issues with the aftermarket ECM that would cause an intermittent loss of communication with the DLC (Data Link Connector) and instrument cluster. We came to believe that the comm. buss failure was linked to a failure in the aftermarket ECM. Our shop does not have enough experience with Asian “Tuner” performance mods so at our expense we had the car taken to a shop that specializes in these vehicles, Hondas in particular. They were also unable to locate the source of the malfunction. At this point Mr. ** paid for the turbo charger repair and took control of the vehicle.

The first week of August, 2014 Mr. ** came in the All Tune and asked me to reimburse him $7000 for repairs and I felt I was being scammed. The demand seemed and still seems excessive because $7000 is very close to the value of the car, the repairs Mr. ** described to me should not have cost as much as he stated and it had been 7-months since I last spoke to him, during that time I have no way of knowing what was happening with the car. When Mr. Ho retrieved his car last December it was not a confrontational or adversarial situation. I sincerely wanted to take care of the problem if it was our fault or find out what had caused the problem if it wasn’t so we’d have the information for future reference.
