All Ways Flooring Reviews (1)

I hired [redacted] of All Ways Flooring, to remove old flooring, boiler, vanity etc., and install tiles. He quoted me $1900-$2300 for the job. The day the job was to begin,Dec. 2, 2013, he called me at 6 am. He was to start at 8am. When I asked what was up, he replied, "I thought I would come over and we could cuddle." I thought he was joking, but I only met him once when he came to give me an estimate. This seemed very inappropriate and I was uncomfortable with it. I stuck to business and he said his helper would be doing the job and would be over at 8am. The helper, [redacted], came on time, was a gentleman and very professional. Right a way, he called [redacted] with the suggestion that the boiler not be removed due to the plumbing involved. Bear in mind, I have no basement, but instead have a laundry/furnace area annexed off the bathroom. As the old floor was being torn up, it was discovered some structural work was needed on the joists. [redacted] came over to assist with that. At that time, I was told that my costs would now exceed the high end of his estimate to the amount of $2800. I said that not removing the boiler should compensate to which he explained that materials were involved.
On another day, I told him what a gem he had in [redacted]. His retort was, "Well, he's kind of quiet, but give him a few drinks and he'll [redacted] your leg like a dog!" [redacted] was embarrassed and I was appalled. These were only two of the many things he said that caused me discomfort.
In the next day or two, [redacted] was asking to be paid. I inquired if he wanted a check or....He quickly said, "Nope. Greenbacks only." I told him I would need to visit the bank and juggle some accounts around and get cash. He said that was fine and to put it in an envelope and give it to [redacted]. I asked about a receipt. He told me his wife handles that stuff. I told him I didn't feel comfortable giving out cash and not have a receipt. He repeated his wife takes care of that and I could trust [redacted]. I was not worried about [redacted]. I was worried about [redacted] claiming I never paid him. So I saw him once more and told him I had his cash. When he reached for the envelope, I pulled it back and said I wanted a receipt. Again the wife. Well, I pulled out the original estimate and had him sign and date it with the amount paid in full. The next day, [redacted] returned to install the vanity and replace the molding and trim. He got so far and realized there was a problem fitting the vanity in the spot where the old one had been. He said he would have to have [redacted] take a look at it and finish up as [redacted] was better at that sort of thing. He said [redacted] would also take away all the demolition debris and unused materials.
Well, [redacted] never came. I called him every day for ten days and left messages. Then I started getting pickups and hangups. Finally, after going through some paperwork, I found his email address and sent a gentle reminder. He contacted me immediately, said he didn't mean to leave me hanging but his phone was out of order. He assured me he didn't do business that way and he would be over the next morning. He then called a little later and left the same message on my phone. He never came the next day and I never saw or heard from him again. I had to hire someone to finish the vanity and molding installation ($165) and I am still walking around the debris next to my back door. I will be paying a neighborhood guy with a truck to help me haul it to the city dumping area. A fee will be charged. I don't know how much that will be, but all this was paid for to [redacted] in the first place, so now I must pay twice for the work he was to do.
I got his flyer from Menard's. I went there to complain and the manager told me that All Ways Flooring has been off their contractor list for over a year. I said I picked up the flyer in November. Admittedly, it was the store on the other side of town. This manager was fully aware of [redacted] shoddy business tactics and had other complaints. He said he witnessed, first hand, the inappropriate demeanor he displays with woman too. He overheard [redacted] speaking out of line to the cashier at the service counter. He pulled him aside, gave him a warning and asked him to leave the store. He made copies of my papers I brought with me and told me that he would contact all Menard's stores in a 75 mile radius. He was not happy. So that is my experience with All Ways Flooring. I would never recommend him to anyone, but I feel no one should experience what I did with this guy. I don't understand how he has a business at all.
