Review: We called this company to fix a leak in our house originating at the chimney. The first estimate was okay, but over the next 2 weeks, the owner came back 3x to collect more money, claiming that the problem/damage was "more extensive" than he realized. In total, he charged more than 4x the original estimate. He claimed the chimney needed new parts; when the parts arrived, he called to tell us, but never installed them. He constantly misses appointments and has not even given us the finalized paperwork, despite numerous requests. The first estimate for the length of the project (1 week) was also off by miles--that was in early May, and it is June now. Finally, a few days ago, the tarp-covered frame he left in place on the roof before disappearing failed during a rainstorm. The leak is now far worse than the original. We have called him three times since then, and he has not even come by to fix the tarp, let alone complete the job. When we do hear back, we get a "dog ate my homework" excuse--one day he didn't even bother with an excuse and said that he'd forgotten our appointment that he made the day before. In the meantime, we have only a leaking tarp around a chimney frame on our roof. We've had ladders, construction trash, and plywood piled on our patio for weeks. We cannot get him on the phone without hearing another excuse, and we cannot force him to come out and finish the job.Desired Settlement: We want 1) the project completed as soon as possible, within the next two weeks at the absolute latest; 2) a partial refund (negotiable amount) to cover the cost of the repairs that are now necessary for the inside of the house; 3) this contractor to give us the correct paperwork for the job and to sign a written statement that he will agree to these terms.
