All-Wood Flooring Reviews (1)

Review: Work not completed as stated in contract. Floor in one of the bedrooms is not completed. Tile in front entrance is not level. Entertainment center is broken. Paint in bathroom downstairs spilled all over bath and drain, cable outlets broken, front door not stained. Baseboard heater covers in living room and dining room not painted. Entry door leaks. Sections of the floor have dark spots and one corner of the floor has not been done. The way it was handled is very unprofessional and frustrating. We have been more than patient with the owner, [redacted]. The deposit was provided on 5/23/13 and the job was supposed to commence shortly thereafter. The work did not begin until September, four months delayed, and it is still unfinished. Mr. [redacted] has already been paid in full for the job, yet it remains unfinished. He has not returned our calls and hung up on me when I tried to explain the issues.Desired Settlement: We would like the work completed as soon as possible per the Contract or a refund for the monies paid as the job is not completed.

Response:

I am saddened and distressed by this complaint I received today in the mail (ID [redacted]) regarding one of our customers [redacted]. I would first like to state that in my opinion their complaint is based solely on they fact that they purchased a front door for their home themselves which was suppose to be a pre-finished door but could not decide on the color so opted to buy one unfinished. We installed the door per the contract and was later asked if we could stain and finish the door. I told them it was not part of the contracted work which states "install" but if I had time between another large job down the road I would be happy to do this for them for an additional charge. The weather was perfect for this then but the day after I stated I might be able to help with the staining my truck broke down do to a faulty Alternator and was at [redacted] , I was was without any transportation between locations ( [redacted]) When I explained this to Mr.[redacted] , he became threatening , demanding and impatient and degrading. This was witnessed by 4 people, 1 All-wood personnel and three customers because I had Mr. [redacted] on speaker phone. I tried to explain that this incident with the car was beyond my control and yet he continued to demand I show up or else. I tried explaining about the truck and after trying to get a word in and unable to, I decide then to hang up on him and never work for him again! I have never received any other calls since that day and the only communications I received after that day is this one and only Revdex.com Complaint !

The strangest thing is that near the end of the job he gave us a bonus for a job well done! I still have his gift! As for the validity of their complaint , none of what they are stating is true and this complaint is contrived as a result of simply not getting their way and getting one more thing out of us for free. All contracted work has been completed as stated per the contract which I have also attached along with many other things we did for them for free. I have also attached the project invoice for you to review as well which shows much of what we did for them beyond what the contracted stated as a matter of "Good Will" . I must also add that the entire time I worked for them they took much of our time complaining about all the doctors that had wronged them and about how they want to sue everyone of them. In my opinion this couple does not want to pay any more than they have to and will try to manipulate who ever they have to in order to get something for free.

As for each comment on the complaint here is my response:

1. Work not completed as stated in contract .

Answer: Work was completed as stated in contract and above and beyond what was stated ( see contract)

Also we have pictures of the complete project before and after if anyone is interested in seeing what was done.

2. Floor in one bedroom is not completed.

Answer: Nothing was contracted for any bedrooms regarding refinishing of floors Based on 442 sq. feet we refinished actually more than that. See signed contract.

We did offer a FREE buff and coat if they were interested and this was stated on an email to them but they stated they would like us to schedule us to come back the last week of November to contract more work ( Hang 6 more doors, Paint and either buff and re-coat or hire us to refinish the bedrooms and pull the carpeting)

3. Tile in front entrance not level. Answer. That portion of the home is not level and is out of level 3/4" to 1/2". We at "no charge" added ($100 worth "see Invoice under Hardibaker Free") additional sub flooring and did all we could do to accommodate and remedy a pre-existing problem. We have pictures of this before and after as well.

4. Entertainment center is broken. Answer. This is an OLD Entertainment Center ( dilapidated) and was rolled out of room and rolled back. I have no idea what this has to do with Revdex.com and All-Wood Flooring.

5. Paint in bathroom. Answer: No work was done in any bathrooms. But upon using the bathroom I saw a painted ceiling hanging from water damage from the kitchen above. Maybe it's from that ?

6. Cable Outlets Broken. Answer: We had no contact with Cable Wires and the customer was watching TV when we left the last day ( not sure what this has to do with us either)

7. Front Door Not Stained: Answer: Not Contracted to do this. Customer purchased the door themselves fro [redacted] and Choose a Non Stained Door. This has nothing to do with All-Wood Contracted Work

8. Baseboard heater covers not painted. Answer: Neither are the ceilings, the window trim, the doors or door trim. It was not contracted work and once again the customer is trying to get something done for free!

9. Entry Door Leaks

Answer: Not True, Door was thoroughly tested for 15 minutes with a spray hose. Mrs. [redacted] did state that when watering her plants and spraying water on the door that when she opened the door water dripped on the tile floor. I explained the obvious that when she opened the wet door into the foyer, water will drip from the exterior portion of the wet door on the floor. The only way to correct this is with an storm door. Which they did not want. The door however does not leak.

10. Sections of floor has dark spots.

Answer: the Floor had urine stains which soaked through to some carpet strip nails that stained the floor. These could not be removed by refinishing or sanding the floor. To correct this problem all the flooring boards would have to be cut out and replaced which is beyond the scope of refinishing a floor. The [redacted] had the option to do this but did not want to spend the money.

11.Delay in a tentative estimated start date: A scheduling and materials deposit along with the signing of the contract was finally implemented on 5/23/13. An estimated /tentative start date of 7/22/13 was initially planned for. Mr. [redacted] however did not receive his materials until 8/3/13 per [redacted] Records after his scheduled start date (So why is 7/22/13 important to Mr. [redacted] when his materials weren't even on site? No work could start without materials ). Also the Custom Stair parts ordered for the [redacted] Job were delayed by three weeks for reasons unknown to me and arrived also 8/3/13 In addition I had sustained a back injury that put me behind on all my jobs by two weeks. The [redacted] were notified by me by phone in late June and emailed. They then choose the first week in September as their new start date. As a result we moved three other customers to accommodate them! I do not understand why this would be a complaint since it was their scheduling choice. I offered to start the week of 7/23 but he did not have materials . I offered to start first week of August but would have to split the weeks up due to other customer scheduled dates but Mr. [redacted] wanted all the work done at once so he choose the first week of September. This was mutually agreed upon!

12. Job paid in full. Answer: The work that was contracted ( along with some extras they added on, that they were charged for and many many extras they were not charged for, that were free) has been paid for . Prior to being paid the last day of the job I sat with both Mr. and Mrs. [redacted]. We did a complete walk through of the entire project, inspecting everything as well as going over every single aspect and charge and non charge item on the Invoice ( see attached) While we were doing this Mr. [redacted] ran out and came back with packages of felt. He asked if we could put this on all there furniture for free. He also picked up new faceplates for all the electrical and asked if we could do that as well for free. Which we did install for them on our time ! They had ample opportunity to respond to any and every thing on the invoice but stated they were extremely happy about the quality of our work and gave me the balance payment. The last day we were on the job Mr. and Mrs . [redacted] asked us to reserve the last week in November for them as well and for me to write up another contract for additional work they wanted to hired us for. They have not given us any more deposits for materials they asked us to purchase nor have they given us any scheduling deposits to hold this date for them since they tried to force their hand on me to stain the door . We have brought back all items purchased to facilitate the additional contracted work as a result of Mr. [redacted] inexplicable threatening outburst and off color comments! As a result I do not want to work any further for these two people and would warn any other contractors to beware of these people. They are manipulators and use their age and health as a sympathy card which quite frankly worked well on me and my family until it simply became too much. At one point during the project after Mr. [redacted] gave us a bonus ( a bottle of [redacted] Whiskey from Ireland for doing such good work) my wife stopped by to meet them and spent several hours at their kitchen table talking to them about family and religion and health. The next day Mrs. [redacted] stated how she felt a real connection with me and my family and how very pleased she was that she hired us. How contradictory these two have become when they finally stopped getting things for free and I stopped letting them take advantage of my good will. Shame on them!

If you read the contract and the invoice you will see everything we were contracted for was done at the highest level of quality and done in a professional manner. As a result we received calls from people that the [redacted] boasted about our work to. This was before I had the problems with my truck and was not able to accommodate the additional request to stain the door . Now I'm replying to a very unwarranted Revdex.com complaint! Because of that they have contrived this complaint to simply drag me and my business name through the mud because they did not get their way. The truth is the truth. Contracts and pictures do not lie. They are simply angry and frustrated people. When I was working there Mrs. [redacted] called the Police many times to complain about how people drove by their home. They just want to control everything and everyone. They have certainly gotten much more than they have paid for and All-Wood Flooring, LLC and I do not deserve this treatment from them. I do not see a way to remedy this by any action I could or would want to take. I can not understand how Mr. and Mrs [redacted] can dispute $2,502.36 the last payment by stating that it is not complete. Pictures and depositions will be made available upon request. In my opinion their statements to the Revdex.com are fraudulent and slanderous! I would appreciate if you and the Revdex.com could handle this in a timely fashion as well. We have warranties and policies to handle true problems in a professional way but this case is completely contrived.

Sincerely,

All-Wood Flooring, LLC

Response:

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:

Mr. [redacted]'s response does not address the fact that the work has not been completed. His inflammatory and untruthful responses, as well as personal attacks, are not warranted nor are they appreciated.

1. The work has not been completed as stated in the contract.

2. In an email dated 11/7/12, Mr. [redacted] wrote he would buff and coat the guest room, which he has not completed.

3. The tile in the front entrance is not level. The contract stated "Install new tile in foyer 36 square feet, Hardibacker, Thinset and Grout work = $500." The installation is faulty.

4. Baseboard heater covers in the living room and dining room were not painted. This was not addressed in Mr.[redacted]'s response.

5. Entry Door leaks. The door is not installed correctly.

6. The components inside the entertainment Center are broken, from when All Wood Flooring employees moved the center from the living room to the other side of the house and back. The lack of taking care and protection of the entertainment center in moving it is what damaged the contents inside it. The entertainment center is not dilapidated. The electronic components inside have not worked since that time.

7. The paint in the bathroom is not from the ceiling, which is white paint, but instead is Gentle Cream color from the paint job performed by All Wood Flooring. The cream paint in the bathtub was obviously spilled inside the bathtub and drain. The bathtub is no where near the ceiling issue on the opposite side of the room. It appears that one of the employees was using the tub to mix the paint or poured it down the drain or spilled it somehow inside the tub. The bathroom is located near the garage, where a lot of the work was being done.

8. The cable outlet plate was left off with the wire exposed after painting.

9. Sections of the floor in the living room have dark spots and one corner of the floor was not buffed at all. We would not pay over $10k and then try to avoid paying to get the dark spots removed, whether by refinishing or replacing the wood in those areas. He said he would first try to sand and if that didn't work the individual pieces could be replaced. The job was not done correctly and these sections take away from the totality of the hard word floor's appearance overall. We are not happy with the result.

10. Front door is not stained. In an email dated 5/26/13, we inquired about the color that would be used on the front door. Mr. [redacted] replied in an email dated 5/30/13 that he recommended either "Golden Oak or Natural Oak" color. Mr. [redacted] accompanied us to [redacted] in mid September to pick out the color of the stain for the front door, which he was supposed to apply within the next day or two. He has not stained the door.

11. Delay in start date. The deposit was provided on 5/23/13. The work was supposed to start on 7/22/13. The materials arrived prior to 7/22/13 and were all set to go. I received a call from Mr. [redacted]'s son who informed me that Mr. [redacted] had hurt his back in [redacted] and he could not start the job until the beginning of September, after Labor Day. Mr. [redacted]'s medical issues and vehicle issues do not excuse the work from not being done timely.

Sincerely,

Business

Subject: Re: All-Wood Flooring, LLC Response to Complaint ID [redacted]

Hi [redacted]! I just received the response from [redacted] Complaint ID [redacted] and my original response stands! Mr [redacted] is claiming that NON CONTRACTED WORK IS NOT COMPLETE! Everything he is stating is for non contracted work or things that could not be done any better without incurring additional charges which he did not want to pay for so he opted to not have us do these things. But now he is trying to turn these refusals of extra work into neglect on our part which simply is not true and is nothing more than a tantrum. I will attach pictures upon request of their work which was completed in full which corresponds exactly to the signed contract that Revdex.com has on file. As for the "as stated in an email" "FREE Buff and coating of a bedroom" That room was full of furniture and could not be buffed and coated the same day as the finish was applied to the other portions of the hardwood flooring that was actually contracted. It was going to be added to the newly contracted work that [redacted] was adding to his November Timeframe Project Extras which included, hanging seven pre-hung doors, installing trim, painting baseboards and also removing carpet in two bedrooms and sanding and refinishing those areas. As a favor and as a matter of good will I was going to try to apply stain and finish to the front door we installed but at an additional charge and prior to November because the weather is warmer than when we were to return in November. I did accompany the [redacted]'s to [redacted] at 7:30 PM at night on my own time because Mrs' [redacted] wanted me to help them pic out a color that was similar to natural Oak. She wanted me to do this because as she stated" I trust your expert advice and experience" not because I was going to stain their door as a "Freebee". This work would have taken (3) days to complete and would have been completed only as a signed "Change Order" resulting in extra charges for Labor Only since they bought all the materials. Because Mr. [redacted] bought all materials he could have easily done this work himself or as I requested Hired someone else since my I no longer had working transportation. I had mechanical problems with my Truck and was without any transportation for nearly a week. Mr [redacted] simply does not or will not try to understand this was a huge impact on all my scheduled work not just the extra things he wanted for his personal schedule. This was no way intended to be a personal attack on him or a desire to not work for him anymore however his way of attacking me and my company and fabricating and twisting the truth for personal gain at my expense has taken all and any reasons to want to help or work for this person any further as well as do any more FREE things for them.

Please let me know that you have received my response!

Sincerely,

[redacted], Managing Member All-Wood Flooring.LLC
