Allegheny Woodworks Reviews (2)

Review: I have had an over 6-month long experience with Allegheny Wood Works that I wish to share. We began this journey in early March when communication regarding ordering 2 sets of closet doors was initiated. Unfortunately, we are still on this journey due to inadequacies and inefficiencies on the part of Allegheny Wood Works.

Everything from the delayed construction of the doors, difficulties with the shipping company, receiving improper-fitting trim pieces, glass inserts crafted on the wrong side of the door, and a gouge on the door have presented a very poor experience for me. What was promised be a 6-week project has now turned into over a 24-week journey.

The order was initially placed on March 30. In late May, I initiated conversation as to the status of the doors. Over the course of the next 10 weeks, I called weekly as to when the doors would be shipped. The delay was blamed on broken machinery, summer vacation schedules, and the inability to keep hickory in stock, all of which are extremely weak excuses when the doors were originally scheduled to be delivered in late May.

The shipping company intended to deliver the doors on July 24. In preparation, they called me asking what equipment I had to receive the doors. I told them this was a residence and they said this was not acceptable with this delivery. A week later and after confirmation to transport the package with a lift truck, the doors were finally delivered. As the packaging was not damaged, the delivery company stated that it was their policy to leave before I opened the contents.

After opening the contents, the trim pieces paired with the doors were too short. Not only that, but a gouge was found on one of the doors. Lastly, the opening for the glass was on the outside of the door rather than on the inside as originally requested.

I was bounced between Keri and Tanya for all of the above concerns, and the customer service discontinuity was painful. I have never felt so de-valued. Tanya happened to never recall a conversation requesting that the glass opening be on the inside of the door and she was unable to find her hand written notes in the paper file. Organization is an obvious area for improvement. Likewise, I’m not sure who would want to have the glass opening on the outside of the door in the first place for the world to see obvious imperfections surrounding the custom designed stained glass. I repeatedly requested to speak with someone as to how I should install the glass so that it wouldn't look hodge-podge and unfortunately, no one stepped up to the plate. After all of this, I get the feeling that it is hard to provide adequate customer service for a product that the company can't or doesn't know how to support when things don't turn out as planned. This is a significant disservice to the customer who has put a lot of time, effort, money and trust in the company.Desired Settlement: Although Allegheny Wood Works touts its amazing craftsmanship, the company sorely disappoints when it comes to work ethic, organization skills, customer service and support. I am greatly disappointed in this situation and how it has been handled thus far. The gouge on the door is significant enough to warrant compensation so that I may, in turn, hire someone to repair it. I am requesting 20% of the price of the door which equates to $130.60.

We have been I contact with the customer and the refund she requested was handled shortly before wereceived the original claim. I assume she filed the claim as we were getting her refund. At this point the customer has received her requested refund and we have closed this claim

Review: I purchased two solid wood mahogany doors from Allegheny. In less than a year, both doors have experienced significant cracking/separation in the panels in multiple spots. I have reached out to the company multiple times on this issue. Initially I received a response and was told to speak with my contractor to see if he could address the issues. Unfortunately, he has not, and the cracking/separation has only gotten worse. I have contacted the company twice in the past few weeks, but have received no response.Desired Settlement: I would like the doors either to be repaired, or more likely, replaced.
