We were asked to do a tile job for a location where the home [redacted] stated that they had already measured and got all of their tile and were ready for installWe showed up to do the install and upon the end of the job realized that the home [redacted] had measured incorrectly and due to that error there
was not enough tile to finish the jobMatt, the [redacted], went over the measurements with the home [redacted] and explained to her how, why and what went wrong and the home [redacted] had no issue with anythingWhen you measure a room you have to include the cabinets and such because when you lay tile you have to make cuts to go around those things so you need that little bit of extra tile to cover for those cuts because you can't lay only pieces of tile to complete a roomBecause we normally have a tight schedule and job are scheduled accordingly and we have deadlines to meet, if we have to go back to a job for an error that was not our fault, just like this situation, there would be a fee for that since we now have to take extra time and pay employees to go back and finish the job that we didn't originally plan forWe agreed to wave that fee for her just because we wanted to be nice as she stated she wasn't the one who did the original measurements and it was a different contractorIt wasn't until Matt left the job did she message us saying she had a problem with the payment, measurements and square footageWhen I was then talking to her, I again tried to explain to her why the measurements and square footage was incorrect and never once did I say that when it come to payment we round up, I stated that when you MEASURE you have to round up to allow for the cuts to be madeWhen she stated that she wanted to be refunded the $for what she claimed we were overcharging her, I said to her that I would be happy to do that but then we would send her a bill for the charge to return to finish the job for the error that wasn't ours which would be a minimum of $After I sent her that message I never heard from her again until this complaint through youI still have all of the messages that we've exchanged with her and if she would like us to again go over things with her to try and get her to understand why she is incorrect in thinking we have overcharged her, I would be happy to do.?
