Revdex.com: I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint # [redacted] Please add your rejection comments belowThe problem is that there was an estimate for about 4,700$ and the end cost were about 7,500$ That is a 3,000$ difference Had we known that it was going to be 7,500$ we would have gone with a different company We paid an extra 3,00$ on top of an estimate, and our end product was an unfinished job It is not our fault you inappropriately estimated, and we should not have to accommodate your inaccuracy You have changed your story and tune through out this complaint By giving an inaccurate estimate you falsely contracted us into your moving company, we would have shopped around or chosen a different company had we known up front that the cost was going to be 7500$ vs 4700$ 1.- First time around, you stated the snowbanks were to high to give an accurate estimate Then you stated that the door was locked and you were unable to get into the garage to see our possessions You were informed of the boats You quoted the BBQ grill, well the canoe was sitting right next to that You saw the grill, but didn't see the canoe? Nothing was blocking the view in-between If the garage was locked you were unable to get into it, how were we able to move our stuff out of it? Plus if you looked through the window the first thing you see is a kayak sitting front and center in the stall You chose not not to go through the garage more accurately, that was a decision you made not us2- You were informed of a steep driveway, you should have added extra to the estimate to accommodate extra work (so that way you wouldn't have to try and charge extra for; extra hauling truck, for extra "charge" to cover your workers, and etc...)3- No one opened prior boxes and went through them prior to packing, they put a sticker on the closed box and loaded it in the truck 4- You don' t charge extra for you employ to help pull out a dog fence, (a 4x6' panel, times 2) which he did on his ownhe wasn't asked to do that 5- if people can't take their boots off lay down more covering/protection (that isn't a hard idea to come up with) I already cleaned carpets and floor, so I don't have any picture to hand over to you for "reimbursement of flooring"6- "Doing us a favor" by not charging to bring the car down, What is that really? You knew ahead of time during the estimate that the car was going to be driven down How often, do you not charge to drive a car down? Trust me you didn't do us any favors for this move We have an estimate that has a difference of 3,000$ and a move that was incomplete(boxes weren't to the house, they weren't opened, stuff wasn't put together) Due to the estimate and incomplete job we have had to pay extra to you and extra just to cover things needed for every day living Why should we we pay you an extra 3,000$, when the estimate for 4,700$ was incomplete? You have altered the story on many accounts to accommodate/cover your own actionsWe were going to have the job cover the move and we did try to change our mind and pay for it ourself, you then said that was inappropriate (but still refused to give us a copy of our bill, we had to go through the hospital to get a copy of the bill) Why did you guys refuse to give us a copy of our bill, with the total costs and break down? It was a estimate period, not matter how you put the spin on it Why are we paying an extra 3000$ for your estimate? Regards, [redacted]

To: Revdex.comComplaint Number: *** There was never an estimate scheduled with our office except for February 27, 2015. I have no idea about any missed appointment. It was not with our office. I met and corresponded with *** *** on the initial estimate and all future calls and emails regarding the relocation. I only spoke to *** *** one time via the telephone on March 23, to inform her of the time or arrival on pack day. Mr*** did inform me at the initial estimate that he did not have the keys to the garage. We never went into the back yard or the shed. He named off items from the garage that were to go, indicating that a lot of what was in the garage was not being moved. No moving companies travel to destination to check access. This is not cost effective and it is the home owners responsibility to make sure the driveway and/or road is passable. I am sure that no one from Alaska flew to Maine to check the access at their Maine home prior to them moving in there. That home was not accessible for a tractor trailer and a ft box truck was used to deliver the items to that home. It is extremely rare for a driveway to not be accessible with a box truck. Neither Ms***, nor Mr*** ever mentioned that the road was extremely muddy, soft and impassable with vehicles other than a four wheel drive pick up truck. It is completely unreasonable to expect the crew to carry boxes 1/of a mile up a driveway. The industry standard is up to feet. Allen's Transfer & Storage offered and will pay to clean the carpets that were soiled. We have mailed them a property damage claim form and asked for pictures to be texted or emailed to us. We have not received the claim form or the pictures yet. The extra labor that was included was for digging items out of the snow, inspecting and re-sealing the boxes that were already packed in the basement, and for the extra time to make sure their auto was safely stored in our warehouse overnight and for scheduling and providing a driver to transport their auto to New Hampshire. The time was inclusive of all of these items. A transport of an auto from Maine to New Hampshire would have been $which was communicated to Mr*** when he asked us for the favor. No extra labor was charged for the extra time to load and unload their piat destination. This is definitely an allowable charge under the Interstate Transportation tariffs. We went above and beyond to accommodate this customer. *** ***Allen's Transfer & Storage/Mayflower** *** **

To: Revdex.comRe: Complaint Number ***We provided moving services for *** *** from March 27-29, I met with Mr*** on February 27, The original estimate that was provided to him was for $which included a canoe and a kayak over feet eachThe
estimates included partial packing services.Mr*** indicated that the canoe and kayak were both under feet, so another estimate was provided to him for $There was a 3rd estimate provided to him with no packing services included for $The estimated was 10,lbs.He decided that they would do what they could for packing and we would finish up what they could not get doneThe cost for packing is charged per box and was explained to him at the time of the estimateMr*** also mentioned that the driveway at destination was at an incline and that a tractor trailer would not be accessibleI explained to him that we would be using a ft box truck for the move because a tractor trailer would not be accessible at origin either and given the short distance, we would just make the move with a box truckWe would not shuttle the shipment from a box truck to a tractor trailer which would incur additional costs.Mr*** also indicated to me at the time of the survey that they would be renting a small *-*** truck to transport some items on their ownAt the time of the move, his household goods would not all fit on one ftbox truck due to the addition of household goods, a foot boat and numerous kennel/fencing sections, so another box truck was dispatched to load the remaining itemsMr*** only rented a small pull behind open trailer in which to transport some of his own itemsHe also added a foot long boat to the shipment, along with numerous sections of fencing, which was never brought up during my initial estimateHe also indicated that very little was going from the garage and mentioned items through the windows as he did not have the key to the garageAs it turned out, approximately boxes were packed from the garage. The final weight of the shipment was 15,lbswith a lbweight additive for the canoe and a lbweight additive for the boatThe final weight was over the estimated weight due to additional items being moved, one canoe over feet that incorporates a weight additive of lbsand the addition of a ftboat, again that incorporates a weight additiveI explained to Mr*** in detail that final charges are based on the actual weight of the shipment, along with the actual number of boxes we packThe final total of the move was $Our crew arrived at destination at 9:a.mand was to meet Mr*** between 10:and 10:a.mto unloadMr*** did not arrive at the house until 11:a.mWe are not allowed per federal regulations to unload our trucks without the homeowner being presentWhen our crew arrived at destination, they attempted to drive the truck up their driveway at least three times, getting stuck and sinking the truck tires deep into the mudMr*** did see the attempts made to get the trucks up his drivewayThe driveway was extremely muddy and impassable with any vehicle other than a four wheel drive pick up truckMr*** was only able to drive his pick up truck up the driveway in four wheel driveOur crew was told by the neighbor that the people that moved out of the house that Mr*** purchased had to have their moving van pushed/pulled up the driveway with a bulldozerThis was never communicated to us.When I called Mr*** on the day of the move and explained to him that our crew wasn't able to drive up his driveway, I told him that we could return the next day with a four wheel drive pick up truck, but that would be an additional expenseI also asked him if he wanted to obtain a storage unit to place all of his household goods into until the muddy season was overWe could return and move the items in, again at an additional costHe said he would go and consult with the crew and call me back within minutesHe never returned my callI then called our crew and they indicated that he declined to have us return the next day with a four wheel drive pick up truck and declined obtaining a self storage unitMr*** made the decision and instructed our crew to place the items into his garage at the bottom of the drivewayBecause he wanted his canoe, kayak and boat placed in the garage, our crew had to stack the boxes in order the fit them all in the garageOur crew offered to move some of the items into his pitruck and he could drive them up the drivewayWe then unloaded his pick up truck and moved all of the beds, dressers, sofa, loveseat, table, chairs, desk and televisionsWe did re-assemble all of his beds, along with the dining tableOur crew moved as much as they could working until dark to accommodate Mr***At the end of the day, the driveway was becoming even more difficult for Mr*** to even get his pick up truck up the drivewayHe had to unhook his pull behind trailer from his pitruck because it was dragging so much mudIt is the homeowners responsibility to make sure their driveways are accessible for tractor trailers or small box trucks at both origin and destinationHousehold goods are moved in box trucks and trailer trucksThese vehicles are not four wheel drive vehiclesTheir driveway at destination is definitely not passable during the spring thawing seasonThis was an impractical access situation and after consulting with the homeowner on the delivery day, we accommodated them extremely well given the circumstances. Our crews are not allowed to remove their shoes to move furniture into homes, per *** regulationsWhen a driveway and access to the home is extremely muddy and messy, our crews place cardboard on the floorsThis was done on delivery day throughout the ground floor of the homeTwo of the crew stayed in the house while the other two crew members brought pieces of furniture to them to keep the mud down as much as possibleWe did offer to clean any soiled spots on the carpet that was caused by our crewWe mailed Mr*** a property damage claim form to complete and asked him to text or email pictures of the soiled areasHe declined and said his wife cleaned the spotsMr*** asked us to bill his employer directly for the moveOnce we had authorization from his employer, we set up the billing to go directly to the employerAfter the move, he decided he wanted to be billed and not his employerWe are not allowed to bill individuals for their movesIt was explained to Mr*** at the time he scheduled the move that payment is required at the time of delivery or with prior approval on a credit cardWe do offer as a courtesy to direct bill an employer with a credit check completed by our accounting departmentWe received an email from his employer agreeing to cover the costs of the moveWe then proceeded to set this upOnce this has been approved, we cannot change the process, especially after the move has been completed.*** ***Allen's Transfer & Storage/Mayflower** ***

I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint # ***Please add your rejection comments below. The initial appointment for the estimate walk through was completely missed, we had to call and set up another day for the estimate The garage wasn't locked, my husband offered for *** to go around to go through the side door of the garage and ***'s response was, "I can just look through the window and get an idea." No one did any sort of assessment of the point B part of the move Had some one done an evaluation of Point B, we all could have planned appropriately for the steep hillYou charged us a full charge for a move that wasn't complete, and offered to charge us more to complete it with out given us notice ahead of time We would have chosen a moving company that was prepared and competent. If the movers can't remove their shoes than they should lay down more boxes or plastic on the floor, to protect it We have moved at least four different times using moving companies and all of the prior movers laid down protection on all the flooring Even with a steep hill, movers can still start walking boxes up a hill to the house I have had to carry the boxes up the hill by foot We really should not be charged extra costs because one of the guys offered help on his own, and his help was pushing/pulling 2-pieces of a fenceHad I known you were going to charge for that also, I would have declined his help I'm sorry it was a complicated move but you could have been more prepared for it, or declined it, or informed us of all the details up front (again you were given notice prior to the start of the moved of a steep incline, and no one did anything about it) so that we could have had the option to make an informed decision from the beginning Your company didn't plan appropriate for a move, and ultimately the customer paid the price (having to pay extra and still not having a finished product, having household goods piled upon each other, having to go out a buy stuff to accommodate the situation, that doesn't even include if anything was broken)
