Hello, Ms*** visited our office in June in regards to her idiopathic urticaria and angioedemaOur physician recommended her to try the injection Xolair to manage her symptomsMs*** signed a patient acknowledgement to receive benefits investigation of the product with her
insuranceMs***'s insurance required a prior authorization and it was deemed coveredMs*** also qualified for a copay assistance program through the pharmaceutical manufacturer in which they require the patient $copay and they pay the mediation claim*** gave a blanket authorization to the specialty pharmacy for authorization to ship the medicationBlanket authorization means the current and all future shipments are authorized by the patient until rescinded by the patientThere is no documentation on the specialty pharmacy side that the patient ever rescinded her authorizationWe ordered the prescription for the patient under her own authorization to the specialty companyThe specialty pharmacy does not accept returns of medications that are refrigerated itemsThis is their company policyAccording to the specialty pharmacy all items have processed through claims and the patient owes the specialty pharmacy $for the two shipments we received ($per shipment)There is no legal responsibility on our end to act on behalf of the patient and cancel her own authorizationWe cannot do this and it was explained to the patient already by the nurse supervisorThe physician nor any medical professional in this office acted out of complianceThe patient's dispute needs to be with the specialty pharmacy and/or the xolair copay assistance program, not the Allergy and Asthma Centres of the Metroplex or our physician or allied health professionalsI tried to contact this patient twice and she has not returned my calls or I would have given her this information myself *** ***
