Review: I contacted Alliance Heating and Cooling 3/18/14 regarding an elderly neighbor who lives at [redacted] Wash. D.C because he had no heat for several days. [redacted] tagged the boiler because gas was escaping 3/14/14. I was told it needed to be serviced by HVAC because it needed a valve replacement. Upon contacting this company, I explained my need for contacting them on their voice mail. [redacted] called me back 3/19/14 at 8:54am, I explained my reason for calling and she told me she would send out someone. I received a call at 1043am from the technician of his arrival. The technician proceeded to check out the boiler, identified the valve he claimed that was leaking gas. He then quoted the cost of $446.00 plus $125.00 for the service fee. [redacted] then agreed that he would have the work done. [redacted] the technician proceed to do the repairs, while [redacted] left to withdraw the money from the bank. I stood there watching [redacted] as he was proceeded to replace the valve he claims that was leaking. [redacted] came back, and [redacted] continued to work. When [redacted] was finished he lighted the pilot light which he had a hard time lighting, but then said it would be fine now. He came upstairs and was payed. He then decided to turn up the thermostat, and proceeded back to the basement to check on the boiler again and discovered the pilot light had gone out. He then relighted it and said it he was finished and it would be fine now. After [redacted] left [redacted] and I went downstairs to observe the boiler, at which point we discovered it was not working. I tried contacting the office because I knew he was not out of the vicinity, to no avail the calls went unanswered. [redacted] finally returned 12:39pm, stating she was at lunch and [redacted] was on his next job and could not return until tomorrow morning. She then told me she would call [redacted] and call me back. At 12:48 she called be and told me that [redacted] said he informed that there was an additional line that needed to be changed for $268.00 and I declined. FalseDesired Settlement: I am requesting on the behalf of [redacted] that all of his money be totally refunded due to the fraudulent activity of this company and their willingness to scam an elderly man out of his hard earned money. I would also like them to pay for having to call [redacted] company to diagnose what was wrong. [redacted] then incurred a $178.00 charge. The company then detected that the boiler was still leaking gas, emitting carbon monoxide, and the pilot assembly incorrectly attached. It's condemned.
