Alliant Services Reviews (1)

Review: I met with [redacted] who owns Alliant Services in early March 20113 to do my income tax. He does have a very engaging personality. He said he had a new accounting system that needed to be straightened out, saying he was going to file an extension and there was no cause for concern. That is not something I was hoping or planning for, but I agreed. This dragged on till around early August when he finally submitted my taxes. I called him on many occasions to try and speed up the process to no avail. It was difficult catching hold of him and when I did, he said that it was me that requested the extension, not him. It turns out I owed $234 for late fees. He has never acknowledged this and has not returned any of my phone calls. I did call IRS regarding this fee, which they dropped to $70 as they said I was an excellent customer. On top of that, he has not returned any of my backup papers which I must have back. In addition, IRS at first claimed I owed additional money, which [redacted] was adamantly stating I had to pay, giving me facts and figures to back up IRS' claim... but in pressing the issue further with [redacted] and not backing down, he realized IRS did make an error and he finally sent a letter to them, straightening out the matter. IRS is still reviewing this and said they would get back to me shortly. This is outstanding as well. I am concerned that [redacted] will ignore this is well if it doesn't come back in the affirmative for me.Desired Settlement: Payment of the $70 I am being charged for the late fees, return of my 2012 backup papers he still has in his possession, handling the still unresolved issue with IRS when they do respond back to me, and an apology for his lack of consideration and negligence in handling my account.

Response:

Dear Madam/Sir,

It is with a great deal of surprise that I acknowledge the receipt of your customer complaint letter of November *, 2013 in the above stated matter.

I have been in personal contact with [redacted] since our first meeting on March **, 2013. This meeting was our first opportunity to review her tax related circumstances as she came to me to discuss having her income taxes done as a new client.

I accepted the assignment to prepare her taxes for tax year 2012. At our meeting, as I recall. she was very cordial and friendly, it was the busy time of the tax season with extra set of difficulties, because of late changes in the laws. I explained to [redacted] that the new tax laws were enacted in January 2013 which meant the Internal. Revenue Service (IRS) changes in forms, mandates and procedures were impacting our entire system of operations . Our software company had downloads of new procedures done almost on a daily basis.

It soon became apparent that our backlog of returns could not meet the April [redacted] deadline so extensions were our next option. Our clients were duly advised and so we proceeded to that phase.

As noted in [redacted]' settlement request I will agree to the payment of the $70 charge for an alleged late payment fee. I have proceeded with my letter of apology and returned her tax documents remaining in my possession. I have agreed that unresolved (IRS) issues that relate to faults by my company will be accepted but only after a full review of the cause for tax year 20lf... 1

Additionally, I have offered to [redacted] 50% reduction in our preparation fee as a good will effort for tax year 2 013.

However, this time we are faced with a government shut-down whereby 90% of (IRS) employees did not report for work. Each year, each tax season brings a new set of challenges . Sound familiar?

I trust this response will be sufficient to show our desire to resolve [redacted]' complaint and disclose our good business intention. If you will require any additional information I will prove prompt in my reply. Thank you.

Very truly yours

Consumer
